This man will always be Mega Man X in my heart. Thank you Dr. Gatha for your great performance. You were missed when Marvel vs Capcom Infinite released.
This whole retrospective was a fun ride but the real cherry on top was seeing Dr. Gatha. Im happy to see that hes still going strong and that he looks fondly at voicing both Domon and X
I'm glad we finally after all this time have seen that Mark Gatha knows how much people LOVE his performance as Mega Man X. Him and Lucas Gilbertson as Zero only got to do three games and despite them probably only being single session recordings each, they both knocked it out of the park in a time where outside of Legends and the NT Warrior anime, Mega Man English voice acting was treated as a laughing stock. Lucas paved the way for Johnny Yong Bosch to be Zero's permanent cameo voice and that's awesome.
Mark was such a massive part of my years as a kid, because I will always remember him as the voice of my all time favorite fictional hero, Megaman X. He's worlds apart from the two voice actors that preceded him and helped me perceive X as the tragic paragon hero that he is. And I sorely miss hearing Mark voice X ever since CAPCOM stopped making Megaman X games... And eventually, I saw G Gundam too and was left stunned! To think he'd be as excellent an actor for Domon as he was for X!
I'm genuinely surprised Mark is interested in returning to voice acting, good thing he's based in Vancouver, he should try to hit up Karl Willems at Ocean for some gigs.
Mark Gatha gave us an amazing performance. Thank you for bringing a hot-blooded character like Domon to life, Dr. Gatha! Hopefully one day you do return to the voice acting scene. Your talents are missed!
I'm a proud G Gundam cosplayer. Thank you for bringing back the ENG V.A of Domon Kasshu. I cosplay God Gundam/Burning Gundam here in PH. Much love for the series and I still have been cosplaying it for 7 years.
Seeing Dr. Gatha was certai ly a surprise! I'd love to be able to talk to him about his tome being X, even if it was just a few minutes. Thanks for sharing this!
Dr. Gatha was incredibly kind to give me the time for an interview, and I'm especially grateful that I could integrate it into one of my videos for his fans to enjoy. Thank you!!
What I like about the panel and the discussions that follow is Jess bringing up talking points that only we as fans care about. Like, who doesn't want a Tequila Gundam plastic model?
I think Gatha is one of the voice actors who REALLY captured the wild screaming and shouting of Japanese voice acting. I don't think it's really been surpassed
Landing an interview with Mark Gatha, and thus an opportunity to him to how much his dub work is appreciated, automatically makes this a top-tier G Gundam retrospective.
THIS HAND OF MINE IS BURNING RED!!! IT’S LOUD ROAR TELLS ME TO GRASP VICTORY!!! BURNING FINGER!!!…HEAT END! It’s still my favorite gundam series to this day. Great panel and interview Mark Gatha still got it. Gundam Builders fighters Try is another one of my favorites because it’s just a love letter or possible sequel to G-Gundam. I just subscribed.
Mark Gatha was always MY X since my exposure to the Mega Man franchise and ever since I played Maverick Hunter X, it became harder for me to want anyone who isn't named him as that character at all unless there's no other ways for him to comeback anymore. my endless (and I really do mean ENDLESS) love for his X aside completely, even if that's the character I associated with him in all my life before my exposure to this anime, there's still what I have to say about his outing as Domon Kasshu the lead character from the latter. he always brought the needed intensity to the character in any fight he fought in, not letting the hype lose itself to the fans and always gave the bone-chilling, hot-blooded warrior archetype the justice it deserves. even with the rougher start of his during the begining of the show, he never failed to get it down with his energy. it was hard for me to assume he'd live up to Tomokazu Seki in the role but when the anime continued, he became more and more excellent where he became perfectly capable of getting to be Domon to the same extant as Seki did. it Will always be hard for me to prefer who did the character justice more between them, they were MADE to play him. that aside: I sincerly wish him the best of luck in his life and his succeding in his work as a doctor, he'll be missed.
Have to thank Ms. Sheffield for getting this interview! As a fan of both G-Gundam and Mega Man, this is awesome to see! Lucas Gilbertson and Dr. Gatha when?!!
Wish I was there, such an underrated show. Hopes there will be more contents for it until the end of the year. Got overshadowed so hard by Gundam Seed this year sadly
@@KaleiWorks With other "hotblood" anime characters the english voices have always felt like they were holding something back. Dr. Gatha as Domon and Dave Pettit as Master Asia were the only two I felt were really giving their all without a tinge of irony about the absurdity.
So happy to actually see an interview with Mark after so many years. Glad you were able to get ahold of him too. I tried to reach out to him once via his office like 10+ years ago, but got cold feed quickly after getting on the phone. I felt bad for ages cause I thought I was some kind of weirdo for calling and never tried again cause I felt guilty about the whole thing. I'm glad you were able to do the same thing and get a really good interview out of it. Really puts a nice neat little bow on the whole thing to me. Dude is a fantastic actor and I'm glad to see him get the props he deserves. Thank you to both of you.
34:29 I watched it all on the GundamInfo channel! I love the soundtrack, and honestly, I think I will love G Gundam when thinking of Gundam as a whole. Both Gundam X and G Gundam are super awesome to me :)
This was an enjoyable panel and discussion, thank you for posting. One thing I find interesting about G, is that unlike the other alternate universe series, G only has one notable call back character to the UC. Allenby is very close to a one to one adaptation of Four Murasume, and yet they adapt her perfectly for the story she's in.
Hey just popping in to say Im a huge fan of G Gundam and this was a great watch. I've never really forgotten about it over the years and it does still set a high bar for what I enjoy out of anime overall. (Hell G was actually my gateway into Gundam of all series). Its really cool that you put on a panel that looked like such fun, with such good attendance and even landed the interview at the end of your video with Dr. Gatha. This was the G Gundam retrospective I didn't know I needed. :p Thanks for the hard work you put in for this, and to anyone who helped along the way. Gundam Fight! Ready? Go!
Thank you for the awesome video. This was a nice surprise. G Gundam will always be a fun series to look back at. Glad Dr. Gatha hit us with the OG SHINING FINGER.
@@odinatraUh... No? There's no information or proof whatsoever that MHX started life as X9, all that's confirmed is that Inafune contemplating between making X9 and a reboot and choses the latter. Stop talking about nonsense.
Absolutely amazing! So glad to have been able to see this, and I know I’ve already said it but I cannot stress it enough, there was never a better time you could’ve done this panel! 30 years? It’s unbelievable! Oh and 27:09 yes! He’s definitely got my cheers! Master Asia is a phenomenal character! By the way, that “King of Anime” segment as well as the recap of your guy’s season 1 reactions had me rolling 😂😂😂 well played on both lol. Definitely looking forward to seeing more of these panels in the future, be it at Anime Matsuri or MegaCon, or if you can expand your horizons beyond those two, by all means do so!!! LONG LIVE G. GUNDAM!!!
Dr Gatha dubbing over the wonderful Dynasty Warriors 1 game would be beloved, his team in that with Zechs from Wing and Puru from ZZ (DW Gundam being one of the few places to find professional voiceacting for any ZZ Character) was awesome but it felt wrong without Mark.
It's so great seeing such strong love for G Gundam after so many years. Watching it after school in the 2000s really cemented my love for the Gundam series. I'm amazed you got Dr. Gatha on the interview! It's heartwarming to see him treat the subjects with fondness and respect. But on the note of Gundam, it's so cool seeing G Gundam content on your channel! You earned a subscriber and I'll be sifting through your stuff and seeing what's in store for the future~
Thank you for this video, haven't watched all of it but I'll have to check out the full thing. Found it on the Mega Man subreddit, and I love Mark Gatha. His roles as Domon in G Gundam and Mega Man X in the X series were fantastic. Absolutely cool that he became a doctor too. Much love!
Dr. Gatha was a real class act, I was grateful to get the time to interview him and share it for all the people out there wondering how he's doing. Thank you!
It was very nice to hear from him after all this time and glad to hear he's doing well in his new profession. Thank you Jessica and everyone involved for making this happen!
g gundam fans are something else. At pax last month, someone saw me in a god gundam shirt while i was waiting for my table for dinner. it turned into an almost 30+ min about our love for g gundam and i had to show my king of hearts crest tattoo. g gundam fans are bound by something special.
Dr. Gatha will always be THE voice of X to me. Morikubo has his place in my heart as well, but Gatha managed to tread the line between X's idealism, self-doubts and strong will when he's finally forced to act so masterfully.
G Gundam should be given a remake. Make it more gritty and realistic. They could do it as a prequel. Show Chapman becoming the champ and then have master Asia arch to win it while introducing a young Domon
Too bad you didn't mention the influence from G Gundam on other products such as videogames either in the 90s or later down because FF7 had a scene in it which also featured giant robots blasting the head of the world dominating corp. ShinRa which was similiar to the scene later in G Gundam with the fight in Neo China blasting the head of that tower where Wong Yunfat resided as a symbolic dethroning act in episode 45. Or how Xenogears basically has the Master Gundam as True Weltall (yes that's the actual name of that Gear) in it, colour scheme, pose and whatnot with basically the same father mentor figure controlling it. And how the Devil Gundam after it's defeat, basically it's exoskelton, is VERY similiar looking to how the legendary pokemon Eternatus comes off in it's pose and colour scheme.
I grew up with the G Gundam dub and i know it's not the best but it's so embedded in my mind that it makes it impossible to watch the original Japanese version with subtitles. I wish this series got more love then it does (looking at you 30th anniversary) but it'll always remain as my first and favorite gundam series of all time.
@KaleiWorks Thank you! It was such a good OVA series plagued by funding issues, but made and finished as a labor of love! The story, the action, the universe, all of it comes together to create a universe that feels interesting and real and *alive* in its own right, and to have found out that it was both a celebration and amalgamation of Mitsuteru Yokoyama's work made it just feel even cooler. I have the NYAV Post dub with Dan Green as Genya, and you could tell that everyone was having a blast. Alas, the 2007 anime didn't do too well, and, allegedly, the Mitsuteru Yokoyama Estate** is not keen on licensing GR for others to use, so not only did we not get the resolution for the rest of the six "chapters" of the story, we also don't get GR in any of the Super Robot Wars games anymore...
"Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep." -William Shakespeare From The Tempest, Act 4 Scene 1
