I just got Mine. My son is a huge fan (10). We tore Into the box (carefully) and enjoyed opening all the figures and setting it up. The oring has a future if they stop producing the same figures, ie CC, Dukes, roadblock etc. copy the 50th anniversary but in oring from. Bam success!!!! This thing rocks!
OMG! I agree sooo much about the figures, they need to either stop using the originals and use coverted 50th.. or at least update the necks to the 1985 necks that not only moved side-to-side but also up and down.. imagine the original snake eyes with the '85 neck style? I'd buy it again just for that, but I won't pay $20 per figure for the same old style neck on the snake eyes figure. I probably would even have liked the 4" line more if they were more accurately proportioned, Cobra Commander and some of them had very long legs and short torsos.. but they did have a few that were better proportioned.
15:00 What you thought was a bomb is actually the real life fuel tank that the real life F-14 Tomcat carries. Those are mounted in real life under the engines where you've put the big missiles (aim-54 phoenix). The big fuel tank that's traditionally mounted on the center of the Skystriker is entirely fictional and does not exist in real life. Real life missile placement on the F-14 Tomcat would put the big missiles (aim-54 phoenix) on the front center pegs where you've put the small missiles (aim-9 sidewinder). The medium missiles (aim-7 sparrow) would go on the bottom of the wing peg using the double wing peg. The small missiles (aim-9 sidewinder) would fit on the side of the double wing peg. An alternate real life missile placement would put the medium missiles (aim-7 sparrow) on the front center pegs and a double set of the small missiles (aim-9 sidewinder) on both the bottom and side pegs of the double wing peg. I do wish there was a way to put another two of the big missiles (aim-54 phoenix) on the underside in between the engines directly behind any missiles placed on the front center pegs because that's where they would have gone in real life. Google some reference photos of the Tomcat for a better idea of where the missiles should actually go.
night force was a sub set of gi joe that was only available at toys r us, they re issued figures in night force colors and reissued vehicles like the skystriker and renamed it the nightboomer and also reissued the whale.
Why didn't they make this set compatible with the 25th anniversary action figures? I would think that most people buying this set would have many of the 25th anniversary action figures.
Great review and video Jay C!!! Thanx!! I didn’t back it but it is definitely cool….in the real world, the smallest missile is a Sidewinder, the medium missile is a Sparrow and the large missile is a Phoenix….and I don’t think those rounder items are bombs but external fuel tanks….
I'm using two 2004 dollar store Ace figures in my skystriker. The helmets look like top gun helmets, I just didn't want to open the figures. Thank you for the review and I hope the winner from your contest is enjoying their skystriker! I would love for the o rings to continue. Would love a USS Flagg Haslab, hope that happens. Love your channel.
Can you imagine the cost of a Haslab USS Flagg though, if ONE skystriker was $250? I'd say judging by Hasbro's greed/overpricing, they'd want at least $1,000 to $1,500 for it.
While I agree 100% that this Skystriker cost way too much (I still had to get it though), this one beats the air brakes off the similar 30th anniversary one. They actually changed the mold, it's not the same as it in many ways, and there's 3 removable panels (I only saw him show 2 in this video) on the side where the ladder hooks in, and 1 on the other side for refueling.. the option for more missiles was a terrific idea, the 30th doesn't have that either. Plus all the other extras; blast effects look pretty cool, the ammo cart and fuel tanker are ok, the 7x figures! I mean.. I liked the non-working ejection things on the 30th's single chair, and some of the details inside the cockpit, but I like this Haslab one's cockpit too.. and it can hold two, and the ejection seats can come out.. I think $99.99 would have been a fair price though.. if it were that much, I bet the last tier would have been unlocked, by the shear amount of orders for it at that price. It was hard to justify at $230, but would have been much easier choice at that lower, more reasonable, price.
@@blissfairchild7194 There are a lot of details. A lower price would have brought in many more people. Selling it in retail stores would have brought in even more people. The mold could be reused with different sub teams in GI Joe. Was the original Skystriker used in Tiger Force? Or was it Sky Force? I don't remember right now. The high price, exclusivity, and Hasbro's ongoing quality control problems are all adding up to Hasbro's failure and collapse.
@@hammertronactionfigures2426 I love your reply! I 100% agree! It makes me sad/mad that Hasbro is failing so badly, but with idiots seemingly in charge, it won't get any better. I have mixed feelings about their situation.. on one hand, I wish they would go back to the old ARAH days, but on the other hand, because they are so greedy/lazy now, i hope they do go under. Lower prices, and in a retail store, would have been perfect for this Skystriker. The Flagg should have been the Haslab for that price, but i know they want to justify selling it for 1k to 1.5k so they wanted to sell the skystriker for roughly $250.. However if they were smart, they could sell just the skystriker and maybe 1, 2 figures with it in retail stores.. maybe for a sub team.. However, I don't think the sky striker was used for any of those sub teams... oh wait! Night Force, I think made a skystriker.
Two questions, You mention dissemble the wings might break the tabs? What about if we don't remove the two big wings, can the entire Skystriker be placed back into the original packaging box? Second question, I believe some of the Pursuit of Cobra and Rise of Cobra figure has a hole in the back of them. Can those figures fit into this new Skystriker using duo pilot method? If not, which tells us that Hasbro is not willing to recreate an entire Skystriker for this so call Haslab project and decided to save money to just retool the existing mold.
Americas biggest mistake is to give F-14s to Iran instead of taiwan and Ukraine which also means it’s going to be hard to make new gi joe tv shows and movies and harder to make new top gun movies.
I don't know what Hasbro's thinking making the 1/18 figures in different heights. The vintage collection figures and Indiana Jones figs are noticeably smaller than marvel universe and 25th anniversary Joes. Why did they do that Jay? I'm glad you're happy with it. I almost backed it but I have 2 vintage one's on my Flagg.
@@moloko912 I don't think any fans or customers here have any numbers. That includes you. I don't think Hasbro is willing to share the numbers they are working with. Therefore, we can only draw on our knowledge and experiences to reach reasonable conclusions. Those reasonable conclusions are that this HasLab project was most likely grossly over priced.
@@hammertronactionfigures2426 okay then, what are the knowledge that has drawn you to this reasonable conclusion. Do you have a fair comparison (paint, plastic quality, product recency etc)product with a much lower price tag?
