Not too long ago I heard that we have lost the language of Christian discourse which Balthasar and Delubac and others were grounded in (i.e. scholasticism). They reacted to the "stagnancy" of the schoolmen, but they understood and used their terms. Can the muddled discourse in contemporary theology (and philosophy for that matter) be attributable to this "lost" legacy?

It is definitely important to recognize the enduring relevance of the disciplined and reasonable reflection upon faith which was synthesized by such eminent figures as St. Augustine, St. Thomas, St. Bonaventure, etc.. They recognized in the truth and intelligibility of creation a pathway into understanding God's action in the world.
