G.L.O.S.S. - Demo 

The people commenting here are presumably almost all punk/hardcore fans. This tells me that you potentially enjoy it when Ian Mackaye is shouting about his problems. You were probably into it when Ron Reyes shouted about his problems. You likely thought it was cool to hear what Jello Biafra had to shout about. Then a trans woman shouts about her problems and it's "SJW bullshit," or "a trans gimmick," or whatever way you want to discredit this band for. Being a trans person can really suck. There's a story to be told there. Who are you to shame anybody for telling their story in a scene that is SPECIFICALLY about giving average people a platform to express themselves?

The drums are like a cement mixer, wham, guitars: a revving engine. Vocals, a hero standing on the edge. This music is awesome.

The point I was making about hardcore bands not being innovative is that there have been about a thousand hetero/cis hardcore bands that somehow represent the *opposite* of innovation that everyone jocks their shit and praises them for "Keepin' it real." People still wear those dumb Bane hoodies. As soon as a queer band shows up and does a similar thing, they're "Not innovative OMG." All of a sudden this weird prejudice applies to only them. Hardcore isn't inherently about innovation. It's about voicing anger towards oppressive systems. This is why GLOSS are great and whether or not they're innovative is irrelevant.

LOL at people saying this isn't innovative. Suddenly hardcore, one of the music genres most guilty of stagnation and a lack of experimenting, and "keeping it old school" and "taking it back to '88!" (again?!), is concerned with breaking new musical frontiers? Listen to Phill Niblock or something. G.L.O.S.S. are a great hardcore band. What the hell more do you need?

The very best HC I've heard for a very, very long time, and believe me, it ain't like I haven't been looking. Love this lot. Each track is tremendous. Is their orientation really a thing? No, thought not. The music says it all. Would have loved to see them live - along with OFF! I'm 54, you know, so know a bit about proper HC. And this is it. This lot are better than the vast majority of HC bands from the 80s. Great drummer. If you are are honestly putting this lot down because of your preconceived opinions, then you are my dear, a knob. Simple as. Out.
