The GD 350 is one of the legends of my watch collection. I've had the negative display version since 2013 which has been on my wrist at 6000m above sea level, and over 40 m below. Exposed to sea water several times and once the buttons got jammed with sand on the beach. I once froze this watch in a block of ice for the heck of it. Wore it to work for several years, mountain biked with it, worked out with it, slammed it on the floor and also wore it in snow, rain forest and even while bathing in a hot water spring. Works just as well as the day I bought it, no repairs/service and no battery change in 7 years. Even among my other watches that are 10 times as expensive, the GD 350 is the one I probably respect the most. Incredible value for $100.
I have been wearing this watch for 5+ years. The vibration alert is AWESOME for use during my work as a pilot. It allows me to time my trips and lets me know where/when I’ve reached certain points while airborne. The light is awesome for use to see in pitch black darkness, say.... finding the bathroom in an unfamiliar location! With regular use of all features, I only recently replaced the battery for the first time in a little over 5 years! Awesome watch!
I have this very model G Shock and love it! The vibration alarm is just what my older ears needed as I find it hard to hear the audible piezo alarms on modern watches, ( you feel the watch buzzing or vibrating on your wrist) especially useful in a noisy environments. If you have the watch off your wrist and it is placed on a hard surface face down, such as a night table, it will make quite a racket to wake you up. The hourly alert is also a feature I like. The watch has 200 meters of water resistance. The supplied strap is good but I opted for a set of Jays and Kay’s adapters so that I could place a NATO strap or any other normal strap on the watch. Thanks for the positive review. Makes me even happier that I opted for this model. Cheers Mike.
@dirt232323 on the home screen it will scroll low battery where it displays the day of the week. This is the same place where it scrolls the cities in the world time screen.
Great watch, it's my daily gym watch, press the countdown timer after a set, and then the vibration alarm let's you know, so you can listen to your music.
Thank You for this great review! This is my favorite G-Shock. The vibe feature is super useful, to me. The display digits are larger and more readable than any of the square G's I've seen.
That instant timer start button is awesome and would be great for folks like me who time things regularly, e.g. tea, coffee, fuel tank switching, etc. It would be great to have this in a square like my 5610...
Hello, great review. The one thing that stood out to me was when you mentioned that this chunky watch is comfortable and fits smaller wrists just fine. You are right, I bought one and I was thinking that it's not going to look very good on my smaller wrist. It looks just fine. I would recommend it to people with small wrists. Thanks for sharing.
Just bought this watch from Amazon for 77 USD . I chose this one over the King because of the eligibility of the screen and the size is no too big for my wrist not to mention it's 50% cheaper . Great deal.
This G-Shock will be an icon legend one day. It has the biggest cell battery ever to be put in a G-Shock. Think about this. The discontinued G-Shock DW6600 was one of the most popular G-Shocks in the 90's had a battery that only lasted 2 years on average because the EL illuminator was so bright. The GD350 has newer electronics and brighter LED technology. This watch might last 15 years on the same battery, but the rubber gaskets need lube though. I always enjoy a watch for what it is anyway.
I’ve got the negative version, battery lasted 7 years with the vibe alarm set for once a day and hourly signal.I love this watch can’t find anything I don’t like about it.
I have a new one of these that's been stuck in it's box for the last couple of months. I dug it out yesterday and thought about selling it on but now having second thoughts as this video highlights the excellent functionality of this model. I have the negative version which is widely regarded as the best of it's type and is legible even in low light. It's also cheap to buy as the price fluctuates on Amazon, I got mine for £50 which is a total bargain.
I love Casio Vibrator watches. For us older guys, it helps since I can't hear the sonic alarms very well anymore ... I have two GD-350s and own all the current vibrator models. I would buy more Casios if they had more with vibration alarms. Nice watch and review!
I might pick up this model. I have a dw5600 which i absolutely love, but my only complaint is the recessed adjust button is hard to use and i like to adjust my alarm and timers frequently (working out, cooking etc). Plus it would be fun to have something different in my collection.
I said that I was going to only buy 1 gshock. I invest in one, this was on my list of selections, yet I picked another & I enjoy it . Now I'm feeling tempted to buy it even though I have already one thank you-_-
I’m a very recent convert to Casio watches with this model’s cheaper non-GShock cousin, the W735 (which I love and highly recommend) but DAMN I don’t think I’ve ever wanted something so similar to what I already own so badly. I love the W735 so much that this G-Shock would be perfect for me if I ever wanted to shell out a little more.
Cool! Was watching the vid about gw7900, and another one pops up! :) Am now looking for the perfect gshock (for me, sure). Have had a white ga300 for over 6 years now, and am ordering a gw5000. What one should I go for if both abovementioned are also in the set? The Frogman is a no brainer, but is too big for my 6.75 inch wrist. The new Rangeman is ugly and, again, huge. The old Rangeman seems to be a cool piece, but Ive heard the inner lugs are relatively easy to break, and those decorative srews, while look serious, bear no function, which is a bummer. Do you have any idea on what to look at? I want to have a packed digital Gshock, not an ana-digi nor an anolog one.
Thank you for this great review and information regarding the name (vibrator/vibe alarm). A great tool watch and as mentioned before I do own the negative display model that is also the VIBRATOR version.
Great watch..I had to cut the wings in the back because they would dig into my larger wrist and was a little uncomfortable after wearing it for not that long..
Without a doubt one of the best G-Shocks ever created...No need for Solar charging with the Nuclear Power Station Battery installed.....And it,s so accurate that Multiband 6 Atomic Time keeping is superfluous !.......Widely regarded as probably the best Military / Tactical Watch you can buy.....And I agree with that sentiment completely !!!......I bought two......The Negative Display and the 350-8 in this Vid.....Swapped the Modules and Bingo.....They look even better !!!......Sadly discontinued in 2021......But still available if you look hard enough......An absolute Gem from Casio ;)
When I saw this watch in 2013. I ordered the Casio Pathfinder fish timer for $30. Then, I got this in 2019. I had to customize it because I like nylon straps. I put fixed spring bars. I love it so far. My only G-Shock i wear that isn't my Frogman.
Does the G-shock GD-350 watch have an internal switch that allows you to fine-tune its precision? I had already seen on some forum (I don't remember which one) that there is a key for this purpose. Could you tell me how to access this key? Hugs,
I’ve got the negative version. Screen contrast and view angles are amazing, surprisingly they are way better than on gold full metal G-Shock. Vibe timer makes it a perfect gym watch.
For some reason I can't size mine perfectly and I suspect the wings or overall bulk are part of the issue. If/when Jays&Kays has their gray metal adapters back in stock I may go that route and skip the Casio strap. Otherwise it'll happy sit in the drawer until summertime and I'm not wearing long sleeves. As a lover of squares I also had to get the *only one with a vibrator* ... the GB-5600AA. That or the GW-5600AB is the way to go if you want a DW-5000 homage, or the GW-5600B if you want a GW-5000 lookalike (but then you'd give up the "Vibrator" text on that v.2 model.) The early Bluetooth is somewhat janky and quite limited in capability but I don't care. Ask me if I care it also lacks solar/atomic for a similar response. :)
@ I can't feel it if I'm doing something active, but if I'm sitting in an office or driving I can feel it. In fact, it will wake me from sleep (without bothering the wife like an audible alarm would). Maybe I'm just a sensitive guy :)
Did the orginal 2013 version come with a illuminator light or does this watch ONLY come with the L.E.D backlight? Please answer this question. I'd like to add this watch to my vintage collection(even tho it's technically considered a "classic")but have never been a fan of the new L.E.D backlight
Seems like the almost perfect military watch! I'm surprised at how few vibro alarms there are in the G-shock line-up. Rumour has it that this will be soon discontinued, madness.
This one is not available india, there are many of Gshock models are not available in India. Its very disappointing. I loved this colour but won't be able to get it. Thanks a lot for ur review.
I like mine. Just as you mention, having current time on other screens is a little thing, but definitely preferable. I have mine on a bund strap, which makes it even more ridiculously chunky, but it is fun and easy to use.
Hey got an issue with my G-9000 mudman and Casio AE-1000. I have experienced both to randomly reset by itself. Tried doing AC reset seems to fo the trick, but it still keeps on happening from time to time. Any fix to that?
The GB-5600AA / GB-5600AB and GB-5600B squares from ~2006 are delightful. The former looks like a DW-5000 and the latter looks like a GW-5000 unless you get it in another colorway iteration. And it's Bluetooth, which can be wonky, but so what? You get the "angry, dancing man" in the display the current GW-B5600's lack. And you get an STN display that's no joke. ;)
@@traviswalker8933 Thanks for the correction about the year. The BT experience is mostly due to Casio having gone with an earlier phone app developer, a one-man company who no longer seems to exist. The app was last updated 3 years ago. Of course, that doesn't contradict any you said. :) Lack of features aside, from what I see the app blissfully ignores reconnecting when in background (when phone and watch have been distanced from each other or the watch has gone into power saving mode). And so the watch times out and turns off BT. Where Casio can more truly be faulted is in not rolling these older models into the modern phone app.
I actually wish it were solar and automatically synced up the time. Every now and then, it'll jump a few minutes ahead. I ended up taking off the flaps on the band, too. Too many pulled hairs and pinched skin.
The only design flaw of this watch is you have to button-press through ten other setup options in order to toggle the alert method (between vibrate and flash). I think most people would want to change that a lot and it should be much easier to do.
I just bought the watch with your amazon link. Thanks for the fantastic review. Too bad they removed the vibrator from the newer models... sometimes you experience features you didn't know you needed :)
@Watch Geek I go the opposite way. I always look for the negative display in every Casio model I buy. So far: SGW 100 SGW 450h PRG 600 GAS 100 (Tokyo Neon edition) Pro Trek PRW 3100 I really need to stop watching videos like yours, they are hurting my bank account in a serious way. 😅
Here's the full tutorial where the switch between vibration and sound is also explained. You have time codes in the description for easier navigation: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VtEARZFFgwo.html
I had easier time in physics and chemistry than trying to set up a sound alarm on this thing..btw its under the FLASH mode....so confusing and hidden for the basic alarm to wake my ass up...
