Watch in HD to read the panel!
I am happy to finally have access to a plane with a G1000 Glass panel.
Ride along as my instructor Brandon walks me through the G1000 engine start and run-up procedure; He also shares some great general G1000 tips.
This is a 172 SP with a G1000 and I am comparing the procedures to the standard "Steam gauge" version of the 172 SP.
(editing is minimal in terms of cutting down the time the procedures actually took - I wanted to really share how long it takes, which actually felt roughly the same as a standard "steam gauge" plane.
NOTE: This was essentially a camera test before getting into more detailed sooting for training on this system. I wanted to figure out how to cover the massive LCDs which do present exposure and glare issues for shooting. Sorry about the shaky coverage with the DSLR which I was shooting handheld. I'm likely going to need to use 2 GoPros (one suctioned to each side window) just to get the full panel covered, due to glare on the further screen from each camera.
DISCLAIMER: I am a "weekend warrior" private pilot, I fly for fun with no intentions of going commercial.I have had my PPL for over 15 years, but still consider each flight a learning experience - I generally take detailed notes after each flight to remind myself what went well or what I could do to improve.... Having the GoPro cameras to record flights like this is invaluable. I find these self analysis videos very helpful in my constant quest to improve, and am happy to share.Feed back is invited; however, please keep it positive
