There is a tool made for holding the shock shaft still while removing the nut. Makes life so much simpler if you have other vehicles that you might be changing shocks on. Mine is KD, but Lisle and other similar companies sell them for around $10. Great video - helped me on my G37X - I thought the strut top access was either through the trunk or rear seat - glad I searched for the video!

Peace Dan, hope all is well this tutorial was great you explained things simple and plain you made it look easy and non threatening going to do this on my G37 coupe adding lowering springs and wanted to replace the original shocks and struts. You gave me confidence

Awesome instructional video.. my 2011 G37 has 150K+ miles and is due for shocks. I made a video on replacing the rear brake pads but it was more for practicing editing video with short clips.. not so much for instruction.

Keep it up! Automotive how-to videos can be tricky at times. Lighting can be a pain, and just getting a camera angle that allows you to still work effectively can be a challenge. What program are you editing I ?

@@DansWay Yes what I made was not an instructional video as there is no talking, steps are missing, and the lighting is bad. I used a GoPro with a head strap. I don't remember what I used to edit it. It was not shot in 4K so I probably just used Movie Maker. If it's 4K with the GoPro I use my MacBook Pro with either the GoPro software or the Mac software.

I guess on a 2013 the caliper doesn't rotate to give access to change the pads when you only remove the top 14mm pin. I have to remove the whole caliper via the 19mm pins.

Great video, makes it look really easy to do your self. I was wondering what size socket was the nuts on top of the shock? Are they size 14 mm? ( The ones to take the shock off the car on the top end)

Sorry to say I didn't do the struts on the G37, so I'm not sure. A standard metric socket set should be all you need.

Nice video but the pad having a wear indicator should go inside bottom. Both pads in the video didn't have the indicator. It means you might have installed the two pads having the indicators at the other side together.

How does the KYB rear shocks ride? Does it feel like OEM? I have sedan as well, and I've been shopping around for rear shocks.

This is really late to the party but I just had my front struts replaced with KYB ones on my '08 G35x and they're excellent. Probably better than OEM.

So I hit a curb and my back right tire seems to be out of Spect I took it to get a line and they said they can’t get it back to where it supposed to be and by the naked are you can see that it’s not word supposed to be but you can’t tell them anything is bent on the inside what should be the first thing I replace

That rear end is really complicated with multi-link suspension. You might need to go to a body shop that can take the critical measurements to determine if the frame mounts are pushed out of alignment. Without those the suspension will not have enough adjustment to get back to running true. Also check that the rim itself is t damaged.

Infiniti dealer has master key for those lug locks. Any mechanic will let you borrow or help you.

Ajay Jain they wanted to charge me an hour of labor. I took a picture and emailed the company that makes the nuts. I purchased two from them. It was about $30 bucks or so.
