Fantastic video, I enjoyed that thoroughly! I have met someone in you who enjoys visiting yards as much of not more than I do. After watching a few of your videos, I am strongly considering searching for a G6 during my next salvage yard outing. I'm planning on going this Friday in fact. I have already installed what I would refer to as a more conventional moon roof in my build. This particular car will be for my wife and I think she would like the panoramic variant more than the traditional one. Inspired by your work I will likely take a punt on one of these units. However in the local yards you cannot bring a jump box of any kind. Therefore I will have to wait to test the moon roof until I return home. Depending on how that turns out I may progress in a different direction than originally planned by removing the unit that I have already installed, cutting an even larger hole than I did a few weeks ago for the more conventional moon roof and then installing a panoramic from.a G6. There would be retrofit issues to contend with but I like the uniqueness aspect of this build choice. Anyway thank you for the idea and how-to, I appreciate it!
864doorcutty - Well I have my first panoramic sunroof from a G6. I had to drive hours to pick it up, much as you did in this video. Brought it home, powered it and nothing. No movement, nada. I found the schematic and will troubleshoot it later tonight. Need to remove the motors first.
Hey bro if you take a cordless (drill/sawsall whatever) with you when you head out to the yard, you can use the battery from that to get power to the sunroof switch. Take some xtra wire with ya too. Works good if you attach alligator clips to the ends of each wire. So get like oh say 2 pieces of wire maybe 5’-6’ long or so and get 4 alligator clips and attach em (crimp or soldier) to each end and now you have a power source and a quick easy way to attach them temporarily to check if the roofs work properly!
Damn B. 3 in one yard. Hope u snagging the roof bracket too. Everytime I just snag a roof, then they crush the car and I lose the bracket. Yard Workers be looking at me crazy when I grab em. Like what that for? :)
@@864doorcutty They get so many of em they crush em quick for new inventory. I havent checked in awhile. ur vid got me fired up again. i can't bring a cutoff wheel at most yards, so my cuts arent always perfect
I use the sawzall for my cuts i use the cut off wheel to start the cuts 4 lines in each corner all the pick pulls wont let you in with the cut off but lkq will the way that roof is made u dont need to drill pivot lines you can jump right on it with the sawzall
I saw the video they do bend easily but will get thro the roof im bought some of these i haven't used them yet but the are a better quality than the white blades12 Pc Demo and Thin Kerf Reciprocating Saw Blade Set m.harborfreight.com/12-pc-demo-and-thin-kerf-reciprocating-saw-blade-set-63768.html
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dNwKqy1blKo.html yeah I never seen one in a goody with the headliner but delux has one done in this video
Man..you're lucky..i put one in my 2000 silverado ex cab 3 years ago and had some broken peaces in my first assembly that caused problems..I've been looking for another ever since and just finally found another and bought it without testing cause it was worth it for the parts at $40 but it has the notorious stuck vent panel..hopefully i can get it working
@@864doorcutty i ended up finding 2 more at the junkyard and finally got a perfect working one in my truck..i have 2 that have no tilt on the front panel but work..I'm gonna keep 1 for parts and sell one that halfway tilts/vents..levijohnstone6666@gmail if interested
Bro need some help I’m good with tips but mine won’t open up, first glass props sideways one side open and it stops there. How did you get the glass out. Even manually turn the motor and they still stuck I don’t wanna break anything.
864doorcutlass@gmail.com what city r u from and i tell people all the time you probably better off findin a roof because its definitely not cheap getting a g6
Hey how do you take out the pins I’m this kind of sunroof I have ask Pontiac G6 2006 mine is missing pins and I have a part car just don’t know how to take the pins out and put new ones in... please help me
Going underneath the roof is easier 4 me Take a flat head screw drive u will see two black clips 1 on each side of the glass pop that clip out it will be hard almost feel like u about to brake them but u won’t after u pop the clip out u will see two screws on each side of the glass around T20 screws remove those u will see the pins or area for the missing pin I use a pair of grips or pliers to Squeeze the pen back into the bracket it’s really simple sometimes you don’t have to remove the glass to put the pin in just lined the glass up and stick the pen and squeeze it with the grips
@@864doorcutty man I bought one it don't tilt but it opens up and I seen on ur vid one of the panels kept retracting when trying to close and mines does the same thing
@@864doorcutty so u think it's still a good roof....shid I was giving up on it and just start looking fa another one I'm Louisiana it's hard to find these....
@86cutty Instagram holler at me there but it can be a few reasons why the motors might not be working the roof need to be greased up i would start by hitting the switch on 1 then push up on the 1st glass then hit 2 pop the til open the roof will open at the same time it will open the roof up to check the tracks
Yo on some real shit 25+ i lost count i haven't 4got about that part but i look at a video and i didn't c a back window on that joint that yard not close by me
@@864doorcutty aye if you come across a bubble caprice driver door arm rest let me know as well if you dont mind, 25 plus that's dedication. I see you be traveling for them roofs
Go underneath the roof take a flat head screwdriver pop the black clips out its definitely a struggle getting the clips out put it towards the middle they will come out take a T25 remove the 2 screws on each side glass will lift right off
864doorcutty I will. Greatly appreciate the response and also seeing you snatch these roofs is what made me get one. They are rare down where I'm at. I looked at 20 cars before I found 1
Never knew about those G6s man, thinking of trying one of them panoramics on my 05 crew cab silverado. I wanted to do double sunroofs but this changed my mind. 🤔
