This album proves Gaahl is the best black metal vocalist. Hes uses so many different styles and it all works and fits into one. Best black metal I've heard in a long time.
@@thewhitewolfff6356 he was great, not lately but trust me his performances were legendary. I watched them back after they got back together and oh boy, all of em needed more practice . Also it didn't help how drunk they were.
Yeah, it has. I thought he was finished after he was moved on from Gorgoroth....actually I was quite happy he was shown the door. But this new one....hell, I just actually PURCHASED it. And thats big for me...lol.
Saw them live yesterday, I was a bit apprehensive at first because I saw Gaahl as a bit of a meme but they put on a hell of a show. Gaahl also shook pretty much everyone's hand in the front row and stuck around talking to people for a long time after the show, pretty cool guy.
Few things have ever resonated with me the way this album does. Thank you for this beauty. You've helped me process my ptsd from being put in prison unjustly and I've slowly began to move forward.
What a wild trip this album is. So much to discover, it definetely needs some turns to get into it but its worth the time. Very, very interesting album.
Really didn't know what to expect from this album, but this turned out to be one of the more original, dynamic contributions to 'Black' Metal that I have heard in a while. The melodies are strung together really nicely, and stick out beautifully, almost to where they sound a bit cacophonous, but in a tasteful manner. Will definitely be coming back to this.
@@underground.church Incipit Satan, Twilight of the Idols and Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam are Gorgoroth's top rated albums in many online shops and metal communities; now look up whose vocals are on 90% of the albums I mentioned.
@@yashagoro5438 Thats a really poor argument. Im saying that his efforts in Gorgoroth are overrated, not that nobody likes them. And surely a black metal fan isnt dumb enough to argue popularity equals quality
I can already see this being in so many top-of-the-year lists. I know for sure it will be in mine, as this is an outstanding release. The composition and emotion of this album is really something unique. At times it reminds me of early Emperor while still sounding fresh and modern. Gaahl wrote a masterpiece here.

Me siento tan bien cuando oigo estás buenas rolas está banda es lo mejor true black metal norway Por siempre.🤟🤟gaahl mis respetos gracias por este arte."masterpiece".
Thanks SOM for Gaahls Wyrd -- somewhat of an extension of Trelldom, to my ears. I've heard all I need to hear, buying the compact disc today...because Gaahl rules, and so do compact discs.
Fuck yes they do! Vinyl is killer with the large cover art and colored vinyl. But too goddamn expensive. Downloading and streaming is as gay as it gets. How anyone can live without a physical metal collection is beyond me.
@@mikevis6934 Lol what kind of arbitrary shit is that? Downloading music is gay? Why? I just want to listen to the music, are you more of a metal fan because you also like to collect discs? Seems pretty nonsensical to me.
Really, this is up there with Pink Floyd or summat on on the grandiosity scale, no matter how many times I listen to it theres always so much more I"m missing.

i would love to hear some recommendations in that particular genre. I've found that as of late I'm more into ambient black and funeral doom as I've grown bored of death doom to be frank.
No me cup of tea, but refreshing in constrast of all Black/blackfolk metal in these days. It has its own spine. might be crooked (from my perspective) but its own unique and solid.
Voluspa: 144. Veistu, hvé rísta skal? Veistu, hvé ráða skal? Veistu, hvé fáa skal? Veistu, hvé freista skal? Veistu, hvé biðja skal? Veistu, hvé blóta skal? Veistu, hvé senda skal? Veistu, hvé sóa skal? At least we got the refrain. Seems some of the lyrics in the record are from the poetic Edda.
Hm, so after ignoring the band for so long, thinking it may as well just be a repeat of Gaahl's Gorgoroth days (I liked Pest and Hat more, personally), I must admit, this was completely unexpected, and so different from what he's done before. More melodic, atmospheric, it's almost got a trance-like atmosphere that, of all things, reminds me of Aptorian Demon, Borgne, and some Blut aus Nord for some reason, and the vocals? Well, again, after Gaahl was so one-note back in Gorgoroth compared to this, I would have never expected such a performance. He's a beast here, just amazing. Will be definitely watching their progress more carefully from now on, this sets a high bar as far as I'm concerned, and it's incredibly refreshing due to its uniqueness, despite getting reminded of other (great) bands. Black metal truly works wonders when it's slower as opposed to aggressive. Unsurprisingly, that also tends to work better for death metal, too.
