This episode brought tears to my eyes. Dealing with any death in the family is horrendous, but sudden deaths of young people seem to be that little bit worse in my opinion. Gabby is the type of woman you would want your daughter to grow up to be like.

She didn't give herself the credit she's due. She's such a strong, clever, intelligent person and I'm sure Kenny feels as lucky to have her in his life and she feels about him. I really enjoyed listening to this

I was captured from start to end. Gabby is wonderful and I can't wait for her own talk show..

My advice on grieving .... I lost my father, ok, not unexpectedly and not tragically... but a massive loss nonetheless. I unconditionally threw myself into grief. I grieved the absolute f**k out of it! I didn't hold back. For a whole year. I didn't bottle it up, I didn't 'keep calm and carry on' or bury myself into my work or do any of those stoic things that many people do. I just allowed myself to wallow fully in his passing and the magnitude of that. And miraculously, almost immediately after the first anniversary of it, a veil was lifted and the world became a normal place again. Of course, I think of him still, and the feeling is intense again for a short while ... but it's not debilitating in any way. So yes, my advice is ... go there, cry your damned eyes out, be a miserable sod, immerse yourself in grief and don't stop when someone might tell you it's time to get on with life again. In my experience, it's better in the long run to do it that way.

As a 57 yr old Leeds woman I have always felt a closeness to her family. I watched her dad play on TV with my family in my childhood. I remember Daniel’s death so well the city was grief struck. I was already a nurse by then. Gabby is an absolutely remarkable woman I have so enjoyed this interview. I have followed her career with pride ❤️

I'm old enough to have been able to see Terry Yorath and Kenny Logan play, and Gabby begin her journey as a commentator - rugby and football being my passions, so I really enjoyed this episode. I was aware of the sad events of her brother passing away, and watched the horrific Bradford City fire unfold on the tv..😓😢

Having endured the loss of my sister when she was 15 and two cousins in tragic accidents, listening to Gabby recount her grief and its impact was a stark reminder of my own grief and how I got through it. Only a short way into the interview, but it’s already wonderful. Gabby’s comment about leaving school having found the “star inside”, whatever that may be. Also the terrible and tragic experience of the horrific fire at the football stadium. What an honest and open interview. Then your brother Gabby. I lost my younger brother suddenly when I was twenty-one and he was just eighteen, so this episode and Gabby's reflections are of particular interest to me. So much of what she felt and observed through the experience were similar to mine. Considering the host hasn't experienced personal tragedy I think he asked wonderfully observed questions in a superlative manner.

The time stamps are so useful, thank you. Gabby is fascinating and super smart, could listen to hear for hours. I can see how the profound sudden loss of her brother would have changed her and turned her entire family’s lives upside down.

A few years ago I saw Gabby and her family at The Great Oenone Street charity 6k run. She and hubby are just nice, genuine and decent people. Many other celebrity couples should take care leaf from their book. Admire them both and took so much from her story of grief. Yet another amazing interview Stephen. THESE are the people that should be organising our country.

I found this episode really helpful hearing about gabby losing her brother. I lost my brother suddenly 8 weeks ago. Over the last week or so I’ve come to the realisation that I just don’t think I’ll ever be the same and that a piece of me went with him that day. It was insightful hearing her say how she thinks of her life before and after that moment as that is exactly how I’ve come to think too

What an absolutely amazing, positive interview! This lady's emotional honesty is so beautiful to hear ... As an Aussie, I've never heard of Gabby, but it's been so lovely to hear a Brit who isn't falling into the 'stiff upper lip' that is so often the case with the British. I saw this while living in Wales for 5 years in my early 20's. I guess the times I saw people being the most honest and authentic selves was at the Arms Park at Rugby Internationals. What a heartbreaking chapter for Gabbys family, it’s a strange one because even though I’ve lost both my parents I feel closer to Stevens train of thought as I had never lost anyone reasonably close to me during my lifetime and the first big person to go was my mum, I was the only one that would step up and care for my dad and that kept me busy mentally and emotionally. I lost my Dad 4 years later and seemed to be coping pretty well but that was because, as Gabby mentions, my eldest brother stayed with me for 3 weeks and it was when he went home that’s when it hit me. I don’t think you can ever prepare anyone for grief Steven as it’s so different and personal for everyone. Another fantastic episode bud, much love.

Great interview! Gabby is so likeable abd articulate and wise. I also think it's great people are being more open about menopause; I'm 57 and out the other side, having suffered nothing but a few hot flushes. I had no idea it can lower the immune system and cause anxiety etc. But the sharing of experience is vital as so many need support and don't get it.

Wow so well put - she was losing empathy - that’s so dead on. I became ‘so strong’ after my brother past suddenly stronger and stronger and stronger till I started to question if I was a psycho path - everything felt so trivial and this is so what happened I lost my empathy - thank you for this interview

I’m sorry to hear about your brother Daniel Gabby. I suffer from the same disease that he had. I haven’t had any symptoms either and I’ve played football my whole life. I only found out through a check up at the hospital for an unrelated issue. I now have an implantable cardioverter defibrillator fitted, so I am one of the lucky ones. It’s really important to raise awareness of genetic heart disease.

Back in 2006, my sister lost her husband to prostate cancer. He was 46. Prostate checks are not routine until men are 50. I really think that should change. By the time my brother-in-law was diagnosed, he was in stage 4. Two and a half months later he was gone.
