Vzpomínky na mou matku. Když mi byla malá, zpívala mi to. Kéž bych ji znovu slyšel. Jsou ještě chvíle, kdy to slyším v mém srdci. Spal jsem na rameni své matky.

Já jsem zase mamince, velké operní příznivkyni, pouštěl z RU-vid všechny možné provedení této slavné árie. Byla překvapená, že i cizinky se snaží zpívat česky. Bohužel i moje maminka mě sleduje už jen tam zhora a při Rusalce brečím...

I saw Driving Miss Daisy in the 1990s. I usually watch all the credits, especially if there is music in the movie. The cinema was almost empty as I wrote down the specifics of this Rusalka aria. It was a little hard to see what I was writing, and not because there was no light. Thank you for posting this, Tadeas - courageous.

Sometimes a song can break your heart. When she sings "ne znahsni" at the end I felt the same way about her, I didn't want the video to end. This is my favorite version by far. I thought Frederica von Stade did a really good job but this is superlative. The whole thing is a voice lesson too. Learned so much just from listening. Don't even have to see the performance. Thank you so much for uploading.

Dvořák was a Czech composer and Gabriela Beňačková is Slovak. We lived together as two nations in one state for 70 years. Therefore, her amazing voice and completely accurate pronunciation and knowledge of Czech language make her Rusalka magical and inimitable with other sopranos that do not have Slavic roots and knowledge of the Czech language.
