It's weird for me that the lyrics seemed to have deeper meaning like this, Or maybe it's just more obvious this way. Either way, like the original (especially its music video) but this cover is gorgeous as well.
idk whats so hard about liking two different versions of the same song tbh why do people have to trash talk one version in order to prove they like the other one more?
It's always really cool to listen to different versions of a song and depending on who interprets it it changes its meaning. The One Direction version is fun and careless, Gabrielle Aplin makes it melancholic and dreamy... The different atmospheres also change the meaning of the lyrics and I love that this cover shows this contrast :)
Her voice is so soulful and beautiful, and the lyrics are stupid as fuck, and that's what makes me kind of mad! In general though, her voice makes me feel like asdfghjkl
PaytonLeblanc One Direction didn't even write this song. I'm not sure if they write any of their songs. The record companies probably buy the catchiest songs they can find because that is what makes money these days.
gabrielle is one of the best singers out there today. her voice is so pure and beautiful. she definitely did this song justice. i love this version because she adds so much emotion to it. its truly amazing how she transformed it. both versions are great.
This is so beautiful. I'm not a fan of One Direction, and I wasn't this song either, but listening to this has allowed me to see a whole different side to the track - so beautiful and expressive. I enjoyed it thoroughly despite my apathy toward the original. Very, very impressed Gabrielle. Absolutely stunning - well done. True musician! That's quite a skill.
do one direction exist? I hear covers of them (great cover I must admit) but the originals? I tried a couple of youtube link but they lead me to strange things that surely were not this suddenly-so-famous-band-came-out-of-nowhere... or do I have to have faith like in Santa?!
totally agree with you. there are so many good covers out there by true artists. when i hear one direction i see nothing special about them. however, we should take into consideration that the cover(artist)s wouldn't be so popular without the big artist behind them. no one would listen to the covers because it's not the variety people like to hear compared to the original. i hope you get what i mean, my english isn't the best ^^
Reckon this has got to be the best cover ever, nobody,s going to top this because Gabrielle always makes a song original and her own, absolutely beautiful.
Notice how artists have respect for other artists? Why can't fans have respect for other fans? Whether you love or hate One Direction, we can all agree that this cover is beautiful.
I've listened to this for years and only watching the video just now and I noticed that Harry and Alfie Hudson Taylor backed her, waiting for the day Alfie and Gabrielle get married at last 😍
Do you have to be so sterotypical? Their fanbase is definitely not just 12 years old girls. You would know that if you'd open your eyes. Saying all of their fans are just little girls is insulting the band and the fans, especially when their fanbase is stronger than most of the others. Are you jealous of that or what? Their fans made some amazing things, be as good as them, organize projects, help your band become the world's biggest boyband and then judge. People have no respect these days.
promote what you love without bashing what you don't. this world could use a whole lot less hate, starting with the simplest things such as hate comments on social networks.
I do agree that the world could use a lot more love but that goes hand in hand with the world needing less hate. And I never criticized what he said based on my personal view of the song, and I never made any judgments or came to any conclusions about him. But I have to say you're kind of contradicting yourself because you flat out criticized me for expressing my outlook. By the way I don't know why you feel the need to bring the holocaust into this because that is EXTREMIST hate and there are much smaller-scale examples that relate more directly to what I was talking about.
It's My view that he had every right to say what he did about a version of a song and not the artists themselves, I referenced the holocaust because HATE is extreme in all matter and not some petty word to use light of because that's you're vocabulary. Hate is Hate
Ok, go ahead and keep contradicting yourself. Apparently I'm the only one who's not allowed to have a point of view here, according to you. You're not a very nice person for saying you think there should be more love in this world.
I love her cover of this song. It speaks of heartbreak and memories. It's interesting how turning a pop song into a ballad by the right artist can change the entire meaning.
Maybe it’s the way she walked Straight into my heart and stole it Through the doors and passed the guards Just like she already owned it I said: Can you give it back to me? She said: Never in your wildest dreams And we danced all night to the best song ever We knew every line Now I can’t remember How it goes but I know That I won’t forget her Cos’ we danced all night to the best song ever I think it went oh, oh, oh I think it went yeah, yeah, yeah I think it goes Said her name was Georgia Rose And her daddy was a dentist Said I had a dirty mouth (I gotta’ dirty mouth) But she kissed me like she meant it I said can I take you home with me She said never in your wildest dreams And we danced all night to the best song ever We knew every line Now I can’t remember How it goes but I know That I won’t forget her Cos’ we danced all night to the best song ever I think it went oh, oh, oh I think it went yeah, yeah, yeah I think it goes You know, I know, you know I’ll remember you And I know, you know, I know you’ll remember me You know, I know, you know I’ll remember you And I know, you know, I hope you remember how we danced How we danced How we danced all night to the best song ever We knew every line Now I can’t remember How it goes but I know That I won’t forget her Cos’ we danced all night to the best song ever Danced all night to the best song ever We knew every line Now I can’t remember How it goes but I know That I won’t forget her Cos’ we danced all night to the best song ever I think it went oh, oh, oh I think it went yeah, yeah, yeah I think it goes Best song ever It was the best song ever It was the best song ever
....best feeling in the world when your 5 year old daughter sings this to you from the radio 1 live lounge.......word for word... and ends it with...Daddy i love you!
Well this is gooooood, she nailed it! Sounds folk-ish just like her songs. You can't ever compare this to the original version 'cause they are two totally different things so shut up and just enjoy it.
Alex and Sierra are covering this version on x factor tonight ! so I thought i would check it out and now I have fallen in love with her voice ! Hi Gabrielle im a new fan :)
Gabrielle Aplin never fails to amaze and surprise me each time, like she turned this pop rock song into a sweet indie/country (sorry terrible at genres :P) song and just... couldn't have done that. Nobody could've! You're wonderful, Gabrielle, ilysm! :) x
oh sorry i didn't know there weren't allowed to be any fun songs in the world that you can just jam to. meaningful songs are beautiful and refreshing but there's nothing wrong with a fun pop song.
