Amarica would have lost it's intire Pacific fleet if amarica didn't crack the Japanese code it would have been the lose of midway atol and the homeland would be threatened or worse but amarica had 3 lucky breaks that caused the Japanese to lose the battle and make them lose the attacking to defending
Nah the Japanese didn’t really have the manpower to touch the mainland maybe some bombing over coastal cities but probably light and not for long in invasion would mean certain defeat due to lack of resources
