Thank you for the detailed, calm explanation of the material. Special thanks for the files, everything is professionally and competently distributed there. Looking forward to new videos. And I wish you success in your creative work!
1) Great tutorial. I've been messing with the primitives, those are out the window now. 2) Thanks for making your build files available, this will save me shit loads of time. Good shit. 3) Side note. If you put your height map file in your unreal project it won't forget about it as it's part of the project now.
I know what you mean, I am still learning every day. It can be overwhelming, but at the same time its what makes it interesting and worthwhile. Cheers!
Honestly just started not even a month ago but now I'm getting deep into unreal, blender, gaea, and maya at the same time. It's overwhelming but I haven't had this much fun in a long time.
Where is the foliage defined in the template? I've been trying to change the culling distance, but it seems the foliage is perhaps done procedurally. It's still well above my skill level.
hey. im loving your work and just paid for your pack. just a question though, your map seems to be huge and the same scale as what you made in gaea but mine is small and loses next to all detail. is there anything you forgot to mention in this tutorial because i cant seem to fix it
Size in Unreal correlates to the resolution of your height map. 1k heightmaps will be 1km, 2k will be 2km, etc. You can increase the scale of the landscape like you would any other object, but the resolution will remain the same. For example, scaling the landscape from 100 to 200 will double the size but the details will get fuzzy.
Landscape to nanite has some severe limitations atm with the conversion. Dunno if its just unoptomized but it eats up 100g of ram for a moderately sized landscape...
would you be able to use the same stuff for say a none stylised landscape or could you cover one for none stylised love the video its excalty what i need to get my landscape finished off the problem is im not going for the stylised look im going for a landscape.
Hi Nate, Thanks for the videos! Quick question: Do you plan on making a tutorial using the mask feature in Gaea? Be an amazing help as I have a mental vision, but have been unable to get Gaea to make anything near what I am looking for. TLDR: Is it possible to customize Gaea to make exactly what you want? Cheers,
Speaking in terms of sculpting wood. I would equate Gaea to a chain saw, and unreal landscape tools to a chisel. In the hands of someone experienced, a chain saw can get pretty close, but exact changes will always be easier with a chisel. If you can tell me more specifically what you want to learn maybe I can help. Gaea has a lot of functionality.
No unfortunately, water material animations require nodes that are unsupported by landscape materials at the moment. The fastest way is using the river spline tools in Unreal.
Dude, I have bought your asset and cannot wait to work with it but gumroad is sloooooooooooooooooow ... if I can prove my purchase is there another way to get these files? lol
heya, thanks for responding ... they cut out a few times yesterday ... then in the evening I downloaded both in just a few mins . very nice work bro!@@Natedotfbx BTW, when do you plan to do a video on your auto landscape material? I clearly have it but would love to hear your insight on it 🙂
again dont bother! This guy is holding all his stuff in this video behind a PAYWALL like a LOOSER! Move on nothing to see here. plenty of other videos on youtube that show you the process for FREE
