How do you spot a good horse?
It's just like you painting the picture. You see in people, as I do with my father before me, certain, some element. I call it "sex appeal".
(LAUGHS)
And with me looking at horses, you could see things and say, "Mm, there's something in the way he moves or the way he carries himself or his demeanor or whatever it is." And you're backing your judgement when you say to your owners, "I really think that this is going to make a top horse."
Then when I got my licence, I was able to, you know, I'm not going to start my horses till I... till I know I can really make a, you know, a real imprint and a real sort of statement. And I took a few months before I ran a horse and then I ran them one after another, I only had about three horses. And then I won five in a row.
