Accuracy with a slingshot isn't as difficult as you think. In a very short time you will be hitting a target as small as a tin can from 20 to 30 feet or more away. Also included in the video are some tips on how to make a hunting capable DIY slingshot for very little money.

@@Seerwealth LOL I hear ya but he has it made, if thats what would worry him! Some DUMBASS taught my wife how to shoot a riffle! Even with the ammo shortages, being what they are...pretty sure I/that would be worth the expenditure! You ever see this face on a Milk Carton.....you know I f'd up🤣🤣🤣 More than just one way...what was I thinking? Well I married her for a reason...I know what I was thinking, at the time, so its my fault! She is a good woman/cook/Mother....HOT AS FIRE....I just push my luck with things, like in this video! GREAT IDEA...cutting board..sweet. Pray for me? 🤣😁🤔

I bought my dad a slingshot for his 62nd birthday about 20 yrs ago. He had not shot one in about 25 yrs. He picked up some rocks off the ground and shot at a can on the ground about 20 foot away. The first shot he missed about an inch-the next 3 shots he hit it. Him and his twin brother used to hunt with them when they were growing up and he was one of the best around this part of the country. The only person around here that could out shoot him was a guy called slingshot charley from around tiptonville tennessee. I think he was the state champion or something like that. My dad passed 4 yrs ago and I feel like part of me died-He taught me so much.-I just wish I was half the man he was. He was one of the best hunters around this part of the state. One of the most simple men you could ever meet, but so wise and everybody loved him and he never met a stranger. I miss him so. Thanks for this video.

Great story, I lost my dad 2 years ago, I miss him terribly. He helped me make slingshots, bows and arrows, took me hunting, fishing and nesting when I was a boy. I am passing this on to my kids, they love the outdoors world of building a fire and cooking some sausages for dinner etc. It's down to us dads to keep these old skills alive 👍 Great video too. 👍 I use the gold theraband on my forks.

Great ideas. I could have used those pointers 60 years ago. Never too late. Young only once, juvenile forever. My wife would agree about that regarding me. I just bought a used cutting board at a garage sale for fifty cents. Perfect, easily make two sling shot frames. When I was a kid I used to go to town where there was a store that had all sorts of old logging stuff for sale cheap and also a barrel of old ball bearings. I'd buy a sack of those bearings and use them with my sling shot. They'd punch right through plywood or 1" cedar boards. Very lethal. Shot a pheasant once and other times could have used one to shoot blue grouse if I'd had a sling shot with me. Thanks again for the very good pointers.

Wow! Thanks so much for the tips. I've gotten interested in slingshots just very recently. They're light, and in the wild, if you run out of gun ammo, you always have ammo on the ground. It could be a lot faster and more efficient than perhaps trying to set a lot of snares when you don't have forever to find something to eat.

this is actually what I needed. I'm getting a triple band hunting slingshot, has a bit more optimized aiming than a crappy Daisy. holding I can put in some practice soon. think I'll need clay shot and I'll just have to hit the mountains. no place to really practice here lol. I do like that design you got though. it's real nice. I had a budget so I didn't get a uber high end model but it's solid brass, and looked like it has good aiming points.

I just wanted to say thank you . I had a slingshot when I was a kid and gave it up as hopeless. after I watched you video I went to our local sporting goods store and bought one for $8. I applied what you went over and after about 45 min. I was hitting a pie pan 7/10 times at about 35 feet. I'm not great yet but you definitely made this highly enjoyable activity more approachable and I'm sure I will continue to improve. My compliments on excellent video.

Hi Lonnie. I've just recently thought about getting back into slingshotting. Especially with the "wild" turkeys that just come right through our yard here. Can't use a gun - too many houses close by. Anyway back to the point. I was fair to middlin with my wrist rocket as a kid. Never hunted with one though. Did a lot of bow hunting as well as shotgun and even some black powder rifle. Only rifle hunting allowed in MA is pre 1865 black powder. Never thought of this before but what a great way to take some small game if your out big game hunting and don't want to make a lot of noise. You're inspiring me for sure Lonnie. I just have to get that sling shot action going again now.

I'm just getting started with slingshots. When you did this video, you were already better than I am now. I'm starting off with empty gallon milk jugs at about 7 yards. I am favoring my Barnett Black Widow, which does have a wrist support. I think that helps me with a consistent hold. I am using the same hold you are, sideways with the device in my left hand, and I use the tip of the upper yoke where the round band attaches as my sight, and I place it dead center on the milk jug. I'm probably getting 6 or 7 hits out of of 10 shots. But, I don't have a good target box where I can recover my ammo yet, so I'm using small gravel, and, believe it or not, the seeds from podocarpus trees, as my ammo. Anyway, thanks for this video, and I hope you are well too.

Good one, Lonny. I agree, a slingshot is a great way to have a partridge or two for supper. Although, I never took the time to hone the skill as you're doing. I guess it was because it wasn't unusual to find a bird kind enough to hang around if I missed the first time. Thanks for posting.

That was excellent Lonnie! Have also decided to get back to a sling shot and have one on the way but would also like to experiment with Bill Hayes design as well. Appreciate all the DIY information and technique which should make my endeavour more fruitful. Been shooting the bow lately so this should be a relatively smooth adaptation. Use the same anchor point and hadn't seen that used yet. Best wishes on the caribou hunt!

Thanks Lonnie for the demonstration. This method of hunting is quite good. I remember the old Wrist Rockets. Trouble with them was, the rubber tubing always gave out. The only way you could get replacement tubing in those days was to go to a medical or chemistry supply store. Many times, you would be turned down because they thought you were just some druggie looking for some of this tubing to help find a vein to shoot up.

***** I live in South Central Alaska. Where we live is very rural but not as "primitive" as many of my viewers think. We have road transportation, electricity, plumbing, telephone, internet etc...just like folks all over the USA. Now out at our cabin that IS totally different. That is secluded, remote and few modern conveniences except I did install a small one panel solar system this summer so I no longer have to listen to that loud hissing of the pressurized gas lights and we now use LED lights that are totally silent. I love it. I can also charge up my tablet for editing the videos I shoot for the channel here. Can't upload the videos though until we get back home.
