Having been a K-9 Officer at one time in my life I discovered that the German Shepherd is the most dog versatile in the world and, I developed a love for them that is ongoing to this day. I still have a German Shepherd to this day.

did you know ( not sure if its nationally) if a suspect kills a police dog, they get charged the same as killing an actual officer

*I'm about 50. In the past 10-15 years, I've noticed a marked increase in the aggressiveness if a majority of police officers where I live which is a suburb of Philadelphia. Unfortunately, this is NOT a good form of aggressive behavior. I see too many cops with the military appearance (shaved heads/military length hair) and a HUGE difference from when I was growing up when most cops were truly caring and pleasant as well as eager to SERVE to what I see now with too many cops having a huge ego and a narcissistic personality. I am now afraid of many cops who are on their power-trips. From what I see in this video is a proactive, caring police dept in Gainsville. We can't always believe what we see, so there is a NATURAL amount of skepticism, but I applaud this approach by the GPD. Unfortunately, I don't live in Gainsville! ... Nice job GPD. Be safe.*

Wow, you Americans are the best in doing this sort of promotional (in the best sense of the word) things. We work quite different here in Europe (I'm also a police officer), we usually work in couples, always at least with a partner; local police (county police) doesn't have k9 units and are specially focused in low intensity crime and traffic control (drug and alcohol test, crashes, etc), while the regional police (something like your State police) focused on crimes, k9, building protection, etc. The National police (here we use to have a gendarmerie (different names in different European countries, like Civil Guard) of militar roots, and a civil force (something like your FBI more or less)) focused in economic crimes, terrorism, inner intelligence. I've really loved this video. :)

I'm ten and have studied Police K9's for almost 3 years now and I have at least 15 years to become a k9 handler but as the dog handler its the best job ever. My room has k9 everything a K9 calendar, tons of police legos, I have police dog costumes and stuffed animals, Plus toys and a tent that looks like a police car with a police dog in the window and ride on police pink motorcycle. I know at least 10 different handlers and tons and tons of police dogs. My favorite police dog is a almost 6 year old belgian malinois named roman who is 99 pounds and he is huge and when I lay down he is bigger than me! But no one in my family was in the police force they were all in the military but I want to be a marine for 4 years before becoming a Law Enforcement officer.

I actually love this. The reason is they don't hide stuff and the way they educate the community is wonderful. I would love to live in a world where law enforcement is this well organized. But I'll be honest these guys may be well trained but I live in South Africa here our cops have faced insane situations that would be too much for the average law enforcement officer. I think American police are a little fast to use deadly force . But its well done world wide DON'T MESS WITH THE AMERICAN POLICE.

i had my debit pin stolen from a pizza/food store. there was an arson fire in the alley behind the place. while the new westminster police were investigating the crime they found the other crime. i went 2 use my debit card it was frozen. went 2 my credit union n found out y my card frozen. was issued new card n new pin. i thank my nwpd 4 finding the crime n getting pples info cancelled
