Going through some heavy stuff, right now, and this song came screaming through my spirit. It's amazing how God put the right song in the right place at the right time to let you know that He's not now or ever going to let me go. Thank you, Father. I needed this.
Twenty years ago, alone in my hostel room i listened this song.... I cried the whole night because of the overwhelming joy that came from knowing i am loved, and that love will never let me go...... still tonight i can not hold back my tears listening to that same song.... a song of love, eternal love that is for me.... O what a love....
George Matheson was born in Glasgow, the eldest of eight children. He had only partial vision as a boy. By the age of twenty he was completely blind. When his fiancée learnt he was going blind and that there was nothing the doctors could do, she told him she could not go through life with a blind man. He never married. He was helped by a devoted sister throughout his ministry. She learnt Greek, Latin and Hebrew in order to aid him in his studies. Despite his blindness, Matheson had a brilliant career at the Glasgow Academy, University of Glasgow and the Church of Scotland Seminary. When he was forty years old, something bittersweet happened. His sister married. Not only did this mean that he lost her companionship, it also brought a fresh reminder of his own heartbreak. In the midst of this intense sadness, on the eve of his sister’s marriage, he wrote one of the most popular and best loved hymns of the Christian church - ‘O Love That Wilt Not Let Me Go’. He completed the whole work in five minutes and never edited, corrected or retouched it. ‘This came,’ he wrote, ‘like a dayspring from on high.’ *O Joy that seekest me through pain, I cannot close my heart to thee; I trace the rainbow through the rain, And feel the promise is not vain, That morn shall tearless be.*
Sitting down after doing my Bible reading for the night, this song came into my spirit, so touching, so intimate, just to know that our Lord and Savior has such great love for us all. What an Awesome God we serve.🙌🏽🙌🏽
This beautiful rendition of a classic hymn has moved me beyond words. God’s wonderful, matchless love can be felt in every note and lyric. Just beautiful.
I've never before watched Anthony Burger watch them and react as they sang that song. That is nothing less than true admiration from a musical master. I miss Anthony Burger - pianist of Heaven surely!
O Love that wilt not let me go, I rest my weary soul in thee; I give thee back the life I owe, That in thine ocean depths its flow May richer, fuller be. O light that foll’west all my way, I yield my flick’ring torch to thee; My heart restores its borrowed ray, That in thy sunshine’s blaze its day May brighter, fairer be. O Joy that seekest me through pain, I cannot close my heart to thee; I trace the rainbow through the rain, And feel the promise is not vain, That morn shall tearless be. O Cross that liftest up my head, I dare not ask to fly from thee; I lay in dust life’s glory dead, And from the ground there blossoms red Life that shall endless be.
three times amen. God be exalted for this praise in acapella. praise to our creator God for these beautiful voices which acclaim him throughout the whole world.
Great Hymn. I am so glad that God will never ever let go of me. Nothing can separate me from His grasp. He will complete the work that He started in me. 🙏🏻
This beautiful, anointed song of hope that carried us through the turmoil of this brief earthly life, to the grave and through eternity was sung at my grandfather’s and mother’s funerals. ❤️
Such a beautiful and true song!!!! Yes, once you come to Jesus---you are His and never will you be let go of again!! You may wander, but God always knows where you are and will bring you back!!!
If you are listening to this, wondering if there is a Jesus- He is real. He's complete, tender love and He wants to know you. Look for Him and you'll easily find Him.
O Love that will not let me go I rest my weary soul in Thee I give Thee back the life I owe That in Thine ocean depths its flow May richer, fuller be O Love, that will not let me go. Oh Joy, that seekest me through pain I cannot close my heart to Thee I trace the rainbow through the rain And feel the promise is not vain That morn shall tearless be O Love, that will not let me go. Oh Cross, that liftest up my head I dare not ask to fly from Thee I lay in dust life's glory dead And from the ground there blossoms red Life that shall endless be O Love, that will not let me go. O Love, that will not let me go.
I saw this first time on CD in maybe 2009-2010. This cant be 2012 live. Anyway, i was here to write how good this performance is. Good harmonies and good singing skills. Those low notes by Gaither...chills!
I've been wondering what music to have at my celebration of life. This is in the top 3. The other two are also from the gvb. How can I say at the end of my life something eternally meaningful to all people,?
