That guy looks like he's riding a carousel horse. He's way too big for that horse.

Love these smooth gaited horses .. They're almost Peruvian Paso smooth just with better conformation (my eyes only)

I think it really depends on the breeder. We have a 22yr old paso fino was amazing conformation and great personality. There's a breeder I know of in Canada I can't say the same for and they can't even garuntee gaited..

@@artsmel8127 WOW !!! A Paso Fino breeder who won't guarantee gait is crazy and sounds kinda shady ... I visited a Paso Fino Ranch in Arkansas years ago and I've been wild about them ever since

Some Paso Finos ( NOT Peruvian Pasos), are known to be Trocha horses, ie: trot prone…. more so the Columbian lines rather than the Puerto Rican purebred lines. In Columbian Paso Finos it is acceptable to have “ trot & galop” horses. There are show classes for Trocha horses.

I couldn’t really say. I’ve owned Peruvians but worked for a friend, a highly respected Paso Fino Breeder but I’m only somewhat familiar with his Pure Puerto Rican lines although he had one very beautiful mare 1/2 Columbian I think by Bochica.

Slow Gait and Pleasure Gait can't be two different gaits because the hooves are put down in the same way (succession): left hindleg, after that left foreleg, then right hindleg and right foreleg etc. This could be "checked" in slow motion.
@twistedvoodoo4960
@twistedvoodoo4960 2 года назад
Actually they can be - hoof sequence is only one part of the equation. So is tempo and the type of step (is one completely on the ground as another foot is place or is the hoof coming off the ground or left the ground before next is placed) and the type of stride length - are they under striding or over striding, etc.

@Apollo The Wolf Actually it's called Islandshest where i am from. And Yes he is to big for this horse. But i still believe she never heard of There are "rural rumors" that the Rocky Mountain and Kentucky Mountain breeds may have some Icelandic ancestry. There were some Icelandics imported to the US in the 1880 to 1920 time frame. And therefore the size of this horse. Anything else "Raleigh"? 🤣

Maybe it wa young and green and just started by this rider? My 14.2 Peruvian was started by a 6’6” QH Reining Trainer whose feet dangled below her belly, but he did a wonderful job of starting her and encouraging her lovely smooth 4 beat Paso Llano ( up to canter speed) over the 5 weeks he had her. He got challenged and joked with by some neighbour for riding such a small horse ( on our Handover Ride). He just laughed & said she was the best & long after she came home, he told me just how much a buzz it was to ride her & how she would always br his first pick for going out on a pleasurable trail ride. He was a lean, balanced, soft handed rider with a lot of feel who rode off his seat bones, which compensated for his height a lot. 🙂

Why spurs??
@deborahdean8867
@deborahdean8867 2 года назад
Because hes a big stupid guy. Probably afraid to ride am appropriately sized horse for his weight. He probably needs spurs to make the horse go. That horse is going to have back problems
@sandyfarley260
@sandyfarley260 11 месяцев назад
Spurs are probably because this rider is a jerk! Mountain horses most usually have a calm, sweet temperment, and rarely act up.
@SalStylesAnimals

it does not look natural. I got mine from Kentucky and she does not walk like that. Did you put weights on her feet wtf Who wants to ride like that on a rocky mountain?? We want a horse to be sure footed not trying to be a model. Look at how still and hardd this man is concentrating when he rides. No one wants to ride like that. We want to be relaxed and enjoying nature. Not clenched jaws watching how our horse gaits wtf WHATever.
@celestialraevyn5187
@celestialraevyn5187 Год назад
It depends on how the horse is bred. Some saddlebreds have a natural high stepping trot if they’re bred to be show horses, other saddlebreds don’t (weights or shoes also are not always harmful depending on what kind they are. Horses are strong animals)

@eclipsestar5601
@eclipsestar5601 3 года назад
No they aren't a hybrid of a Icelandic horse . Rockies originated from Tennessee Walking horses (most likely where the gait if from), American Saddlebreds, and Missouri Fox Trotters. Today you can only bred them with both parents being a Rocky. I work with Rockies.
@ebflegg
@ebflegg 2 года назад
They are both descended from the ambling horses of the British isles of a thousand years ago. The Vikings took them to Iceland and the colonists took them to the new World. They became extinct in Britain
@sandyfarley260
@sandyfarley260 11 месяцев назад
No, these horses are not related to the Icelandic. The Mountain Horses were developed in mountainous regions of the U.S. so regular riders such as postal, or any delivery riders, could ride for.long periods of time in comfort. The pleasure gait is smooth and not bouncy. It is said the rider can carry a cup of tea and never spill a drop!

Horses (as much as I love them) are kind of stupid and hurt themselves a lot and eat things they're not supposed to. We create a controlled environment to try and avoid those things.
