Dude, there is NO flaw! It’s just the pattern of the back of the card. Take a red card and green card. Hold the trim close together. If the colours are the same, then turn one card 180 degrees. Now there is a VERY SLIGHT difference in colour because of the background design. There is no cheat or hint.
I just had a look at mine and I don't see a difference based on the color of the cards. There are variations within each set of red and green cards, with the red cards being maybe more consistent overall. Maybe you should buy more decks and randomize them more. And play under a red light. It is odd though.
I have a deck in my hand that I bought at Disneyland Galaxy's Edge in the summer of 2022. I closely examined the card backs under various different lighting conditions. It does not have this defect. Bummer that some decks had this problem but mine does not. They probably fixed it on a later print run.
Got mine a couple of days ago from Galaxy's Edge. No issue I can see. There are backs with slightly different shades but not consistant the colour of the card. Even the two green sylop cards had alternate prints on the back. Nothing that would ruin the game.
We have the Hasbro version, but I just found this while showing my son some vids to refresh his memory. Really, what I'm hearing here is that if you buy your deck on Batuu, you shouldn't play in a brightly lit room. But hopefully, if we get a set of the Galaxy's Edge cards it'll be the newer print run with the more uniform colours. Thanks for your videos!
I purchased a deck from Hyperspace Props since... I don't trust the quality of disney and hasbro ruined the best part of new Magic cards so I have a chip on my shoulder. They play just fine. About the only downside I'd had was getting dealt a Mistress of Sabers and Demise and then drawing the Idiot. For those who don't know, the Mistress of Sabers scores 13 while Demise is -13, the Idiot is worth 0. So I might as well not have bothered. I feel like it should be counted as a special hand, though.
"You won't last 5 minutes playing this game." Funnily enough been making that joke about random shit for at least the last 6 months, got a laugh out of me.
I went to Galaxy's Edge in Disney World back in June of this year and bought this deck. Sorry to say but I definitely noticed this is still a thing. I went through the full deck and had about a 95ish% success rate in estimating whether a card was negative or positive. When I moved the cards further away from me, I had about a 90ish% success rate. But in slightly dim lighting it was a crap shoot. In lighting where the lights had more of a yellowish hue to them I had to REALLY squint to tell the difference. In dim lighting that had a yellowish tint I couldn't tell ANY difference.
