"OK for the next technique, you're going to want to set up a sacrificial stone table and slaughter a baby lamb over the phone under a full moon. After that you're going to want to hold the power button with the low volume button until a Samsung logo appears"
I took it to the service today, same issue, it happened yesterday. By reading this comment thread I can assume it's the software update not the device, although I do not recall any installation at the moment the screen went black (in background maybe?).
Okay, you win! It worked. Ten minutes in the freezer and it turned on with a touch! I’m in tears. Was leaving for PR in 2 days and was crying my eyes out trying to figure out how to fix my phone for pics and to communicate with my kiddos or how I was going to afford and a new one… I seriously don’t know how to thank you! 🙏
I’ve been stressing out all day long because my phone went black yesterday. I’m a tradesmen and I cannot even talk to my employers about where I’m working next week. 7 live chats between 02 and Samsung trying to fix this and nothing worked. I tried RU-vid out of sheer desperation and after step 3 tapping my phone it’s finally working again!! You sir have literally saved my bacon... so to speak. Thank you so much for doing what even Samsung could not. I’m eternally grateful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart
Damn it actually worked, tried each step multiple times and it worked while I was banging the screen on my palm. Thanks mate! Don't give up first go guys
You legend. Mine subbonly resisted all attemps until a ten minute freezer stint. Didn't even have to force the restart, came on when I pressed the button :) Everyone else I've seen is right. Don't give up after first attempt (mine was the second freezer trick)
I just put mine in the freezer. Lets see. After massaging and taping at least from a black and red and yellowing flickering it started to flicker with a white screen. Hopefully this works.
Brother, you are a lifesaver. The 2 finger tap worked for me.. The people who have been asking about the method, you just have to try this method over and over again.. I had like, tried 8-10 times, then the phone comes to life again..
Thanks! It worked after repeatedly manipulating the power and volume buttons. Your video is direct, simple to follow and your instruction are clear. Subscribed.
My phone plunged head first into the clutches of the black screen of death. I was skeptical that molly wopping my phone into oblivion would resurrect it, but it did. This checks out 👍
Thank you so much for saving my phone. I tried all the tricks for about 5 to 6 times and it worked. I was even hesistant to put my phone inside the freezer but I just followed your instructions to leave it for 10-15 minutes. I massaged and tapped the screen of my phone, too. And voila, the display is back. I saved $360 cost of LCD replacement. I cannot thank you enough.
OMG, thank you soooo very much!!!! This black screen came out of nowhere even though we could hear the alerts on my fiancé's phone. This just happened early this morning before going to work and he needs his phone for just about everything. I googled this issue and found your video. After watching it, I gave his office a call to give him these details and after about 3 hours of persistence with these techniques, he finally got his S21+ working. He is one very, very, very happy man!
@@naypo231 i think it lasts, i dont think you need to return because mine worked with just the 1st step. Just be careful where you store it and how you treat it.
You are a genius! My 21+ blacked out one day and looked up everything online to get it working with no luck. I had to start using my old phone (S10) while I waited for my new phone to arrive. Two weeks on, I thought I'd give the S21+ another go, as the battery was fully drained. I came across your video and after about 15 minutes... I see light! Lo and behold, the Samsung sign. It was going to cost $300+ to get the screen replaced. Can't thank you enough.
Took me 2 cycles of this to get my s21 Ultra back up and running again. Got anxious after it didnt work the first time, but continued on and after the second freezer session I smacked it up against my palm a couple times and it just popped back into life. Just saved me 300 euro and a week without a phone. Thanks man!
Initially, i was frustrated after doing everything stated here in the video and it still didn't work. I even kept it in the freezer for about 11 minutes, at that point nothing seemed to be working again. I was already regretting putting in the freezer and remembered the rice strategy. I kept it submerged inside rice for almost five hours, brought it out and heard the alarm sound few minutes later, then i knew this might work. I started doing all that was stated in the video again not giving up, the massage, double finger, smacking and hard reset, it still didn't work but i was hopeful as i tapped on the screen using two fingers and hard reset again and VOILA!! it came on. I was so so happy, thank you. I was already considering changing the screen but now, NO MORE!!
Please be careful with the 'spam the power button' method as a lot of people will be aware (I wasn't one of them) this is an emergency call short cut. Unless your phone isn't covered by a case and is really dirty this 'method' probably isn't required if you don't want to be embarrassed by accidently calling the emergency services.
AHHH!!!!! IT WORKED!!!!! It didn't work right away, but eventually after 4 rounds in the fridge, rapidly pushing the power button, and a bajillion tapes IT WORKED! Thank you so so so so so so much! I seriously don't know what I would have done bringing another phone to the store to fix. You saved me $$! Thank you .
Thanks for the video. Most of the other videos stopped after step #2. I followed all your steps and after the freezer session my phone finally booted up and is working just fine. Saved me a trip to T-Mobile and from purchasing the Samsung Galaxy S23. Thanks again.
My phone has been working absolutely fine since day 1. I "updated" my phone earlier this evening and now the screen doesn't work. Judging by other comments I'm not the only one who had this problem
@@olusholamarcus1478I had to order a replacement phone and take both phones to a local repair shop. They swapped the motherboards and put the new one in the old phone and backed up my old photos and videos then swapped them back and I returned the broken phone.
The massage method worked! I tried resetting and then resetting while the phone was charging. I felt like an idiot tapping and massaging my phone, but then my phone came back to life! Saved me from a trip to the AT&T store.
Non of the methods worked for me. Need help. Just want to talk answer data from old s21 ultra to new latest android phone. Got black screen with a woman talking in the background. How do I fix this?
Hello! By any chance are you prone to dropping your phone. If so, the issue could be that the LCD cable is loose and needs a bit of tightening. For this, you either can do it yourself if you have the confidence too, or you can bring it to a technician for them to do a diagnostic and fix it for only around 40-100 dollars depending where you live.
omg, tried this like 5x yesterday and nothing. tried 1x today and it worked. In the meantime i bought a new phone and wasted like 4h setting things up. I'm so pissed at samsung but thank you for the video.
In the freezer... Put my EXPENSIVE phone in the freezer? Are you kidding me...... IT FUCKING WORKED!!!!! I tried everything else you demonstrated 3 times before finally putting my phone in the freezer for just 5 minutes. Spammed the buttons a few times, forced reboot and BOOM! Samsung Logo. I love you dude!
Yeah, unfortunately the fix was temporary for me. Worked for about 40 minutes and the the screen became black again. Have been attempting the same suggested tricks for a few hours now, but I have to give up. The phone needs to be sent to be repared. Probably a loose connection somewhere and I don't think I can fix it myself. Thank you for the video still
@@WooyoungsAegyo i know its been two years, but the reason why is because the LCD cable is loose. For next time, just either try to fix it yourself if you must, and if you are unable too, just go to a technician and get a diagnostic done for only around 40-100 dollars depending on where you live. Have a nice day :))
Yep, freezer worked, I can't believe it! I thought it was doomed. I took it to the phone repair shop and they said the only thing they could do was a factory reset in which i would have lost all my data. Thank you so much! You're a bloody lifesaver!!!
I tried steps 1-3 a few times without success and was skeptical anything would work. Well, finally after doing step 4, it worked! You are a lifesaver!! Thank you for this video!!
Amazing. My old S10 went dark and I couldn't find anything that worked until I came across your video. got it back working by slapping into the palm method. Thanks so much.
It worked! Tried this and other suggestions with a S21+, even took it to service where it was opened and reviewed and nothing worked. I continued trying this method (including the freezer step). While having lunch I smashed the buttons for a minute, gave a strong massage for some minutes (back and front) and finally pressed volume down + power for a long time, letting the phone vibrate again and again and suddenly it showed the Samsung logo!!!
Thanks! It worked. You saved me! Hopefully this doesn't happen again but will see.. it took me almost a hour. I did it a bunch of time. Until I put it in the freezer for 15mins gave it a bunch of taps turn it off and it worked. Thank you.
Thank you SO MUCH! I had my wife laughing at me! But it worked, tapped, massaged, then slapped. I believe the threat of going in the freezer was most effective! Thank you very much, Marc and Danielle!
As ridiculous as it may sound, putting it in the freezer worked. It gave me the opportunity to run the phone and wipe cache partition. Installed CcleanerPro so the problem doesn't happen anymore. Apparently it was on 9gb of caches. Entering into recovery mode does not work for the life of me,but thank god i got the time to install CCleaner to wipe the caches. Thank you.
God's honest truth...this worked after 10 minutes in the freezer and repeating the steps. Pressed and held power button and volumn down button simutaneously, on my S21, and it restarted after aporoximately 15 seconds. Unbelievable!! Thank you
I can't believe it actually worked. First time it happened I was scammed by a samsung technical support that charged me 300 dollars for a new Display. This time I decided to do the freezer step that I didn't do last time since I thought : "okay. that part is crazy, I won't do it" and it actually worked, after 15 minutes in the freezer and a kept taping and slaping the phone I heard a little noise as if something was put back in place, I did the hard reset again and is back on. Thank you so much, you are a life saver, saved me from getting scammed again.
Hello, what was the duration between the first time it happened to you and the recent one that happened??? Saw others comment saying it happened twice within the space of 1 month
@@MalvinNation mine happened 6 months after the first time, and after I fixed with this video it happened again now 2 years later, that is why I came back to this video
I was not at all expecting these methods to work. But to my surprise after trying for 15-20 minutes two times and forgetting my phone in the freezer for an hour. My phone came alive. I was ecstatic. Thanks to you and your commenters who gave me hope. Cheers
It worked! I couldn't believe it, but it did! I was dreading having to spend $250-$300 for some 3rd party tech guy in the middle of a mall to fix it! But thanks to you I am not! Thank you! You're a real one. Have a blessed day and life!
Thank you. It worked. i tried so many times and thought i have to change the display. Specially with the economy crisis. Displays are so expensive and i thought ill have to put the phone away since my warranty ended on August 24. i tried so many times. even put it to the freezer and still didn't work but then tried resetting it using the power and volume button and plugged the charger and thankfully saw the charging sign. all you need is patience and don't give up. it will work. do as many times as u can. Thank you for uploading this video.
My Samsung note 8 suddenly turned black and switched off..there is no notification sound ..cellphone is totally off ..I only can see circle charging when plugged in but without showing percentage ..I tried button methods it doesn't work..may you help ?
Ok. So the first time I did the first technique and it worked! A couple of days later, it happened again but technique 1 no longer worked. I moved onto #2 where you plug it into a charger. Immediately my phone turned on! That's awesome! But what's actually happening? Why is the screen doing this, and will i have to keep force restarting it while plugged in every couple of days?
Thanks, tried everything in the video multiple times to no avail. last resort freezer, 14 minutes in & i took it out the freezer and instatly hard reset it holding the buttons down & the screen turned on for the first time & it lived for 15 minutes was able to get all my data off before the screen went black again, if i ever need to turn it on for 15-20 minutes i can always put it in the freezer again
The tapping methods worked for me only , lol I can't believe such method worked , it sounded absurd but it made my screen work again , thank you so much
Got my phone back after literally 100+ restarts. Also happened a month ago. Plugging mine into a USB-C to HDMI may have helped in my case. Thanks for the video
My S21+ suddenly went black screen four days ago. I found this video and did all the steps, including throwing it into the freezer three times, but still no help. I knew the phone was running all the time as the alarm went off at the time I set, and I could feel the vibration every time I restarted it. Finally, I gave up and left it on the desk. When I picked it up this morning, it lit up fine, just like nothing happened in the past four days. The battery was at 65%. I believe that for many cases like mine, it's a firmware issue that goes away when the battery drains to a certain level. If your phone experienced physical abuse before tunning to a black screen, then the procedures described in this video may help. For situations like mine, you can certainly punish the phone in the same way. But it may not be the torture that makes recovery successful, but the time it takes to drain the battery to the desired level. Still a great video... at least it gives us hope.
So the tapping method worked! that's good but does anyone know what the cause of this is, this is a fairly new phone and shouldn't be having these types of problems. If this is something that Samsung needs to fix then I want it done while it is still under warranty.
I experienced this just now and that is so unfair for the users I paid in full and handled my phone with so much care since its expensive. Never experienced any drop or being wet. Why is this happening and customer service just advised that need for reformat. Reformat??? How unfair all my important files are there. Hey samsung do something about this its not fair this is a very expensive phone and I didn’t expect this from you. Pls help i need to have my phone back . Do anyone knows the reason for this? Its not the fault of the users.
Thank you so much! After a good 30 minutes after the slapping, tapping, massage. And about 5 minutes in the freezer. I got my mom’s phone to work. You save us about 300$!
The 3rd Time in the freezer, then letting it sit for about 20 minutes and the screen randomly turned on as I was filing a manufacturer claim, haha. "ummm, well it randomly started working so this wont be necessary... no just used the freezer, thanks anyways!" Thank you so much! You're awesome!!
Thank you so much, my phone suddenly died and I tried all sorts of things, then I contacted Samsung and told them the steps I did and they said that's all the possible steps you can do. Until I saw this video, they said nothing about charging it and trying to turn it on and it worked :) Thank you again
Thank youuu!!! The smack method worked for me! If you're reading this remember to hard reset your phone (hold the power and volume down button) after whatever method you try!
Had a black screen for no reason. wake up, had my phone on the table everything was working fine, and boom, black screen for no reason. Did the whole video 1 time, then the freezer + putting out the Sim card worked for me with a restart. Thank you dude!
WHAT A LIFESAVER!!!!! Thank you so so so much. Woke up to a blank screen - the phone vibrated each time I tried to force a restart but nothing else - just completely blank.Started to lose hope because I had followed the steps at least 6-7 times (3 cycles in the freezer too) but a 20 minute continuous tapping session did it in the end. Now that it's on, the display is still spotty, but AT LEAST IT WORKS!!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! Don't give up, folks.
Hey hello, I am also in the same stage right now the phone vibrates but it doesn't turn on, force restart is also not working, I've tried each step 4-5 times is there a way i could start it ? You're reply would be really helpful.
@@JoginderSingh-sb8nd I've given it to the service centre and they've told my display got damaged, it got randomly shut while watching RU-vid, i was shocked, there's no physical damage.
I doubted the tapping part at first, until my girlfriend screamed and opened my phone after tapping for about a minute. You got my like and subscribe dude. Thank you so much, you saved me from an unnecessary expense.
Repeated these steps (except the freezer part) about 4 times and then it suddenly came back to life and lit up. I already knew the Step 1 and 2 (Volume Down + Power while charging or not charging) and those had always worked for me in the past with Androids, but this time it wasn't working. The final time I tried my own variation of tapping on the screen, gently slapping it rapidly with all four fingers around and around the screen. Then I forced another reboot and it worked.
I'm currently having this issue with my S21plus I was on a phone call and suddenly when I went to hang up, the screen wasn't responding but my google assistant was still working and responsive. I've gone through these steps about 4 times so far, even left the phone in the freeze for 10 min, the only response I get from the device is a short vibration when I hold the lower volume key and power button down but nothing else. And if I plug it in to charge and try holding the two buttons down then nothing happens. I'm starting to panic I've only had this phone since last July. If I plug it into my laptop the laptop makes a sound that something has been connected and disconnected but the device seems pretty much unresponsive...I'm going to try these steps a few more times and pray it works... any additional tips would be much appreciated... Edit: it's the next day and the fix that worked for me was holding all the buttons down at the same time (volume up and down, and power) while it's plugged in charging. The phone appears to be back to normal now.
My eternal gratitude, just fixed hubby's phone! You're a legend because its his small business line, no usb debugging and screenlock on so 😅 I spend a whole day in front of pc, no cigar, then you came along, tap tap tap 🎉 like magic! 🤯🥳 *happy dance* thank you thank you thank you!
I went through all the steps and when I got to the "massage" portion I heard a click on the left middle side of the screen and it turned on! I felt so stupid massaging my phone but it was more of a pinch between the front and rear of the phone. Thank you for the help!! S21 is what I was trying to save.
You seriously are amazing! My issue was that I can see the Always On screen but couldn't unlock the phone. It constantly went black. But I could still feel all vibrations. It was the first tapping method that worked for me!! Thank you so much!
I tried all steps multiple times over a 3 day period and nothing. Then on the 4th day I tried all and put phone in freezer and then instead of me physically holding the power/volume down buttons, I instead forced them down with two hair bands (read somewhere). It made it so the it cycled through the reset over and over and over. I came back in the room about an hour later and the samsung logo was actually appearing and off. I waited until it appeared next and then quickly took the ties off the buttons and the phone stayed on! To be safe I backed everything up right away and then did a factory reset in case there was a software error. There IS hope :)
After I tried all those stuff, I gave it to the samsung shop for repair, they fixed the panel after a few days by replacing it, a month later it happened again..seems this might be an issue with the model
this actually worked! did the massage and that reset something, now it works. dropped my phone earlier and it went black but i can still feel it vibrate. thank you for this, you just saved me hundreds of dollars!
That was some craziness! I put in the freezer and did the reset and it didn't work so i started tapping and massaging and bam the screen came back on (mind blown)
Omg dude, I did al your steps (exept the freezer cuz i wanted to keep it as last resort) but I repeated the tap, massage and smack method for multiple times, afterwards i tried to force resart it like 10 times, and then "Samsung' popped up, my hero! You save me like +200 bucks.
Great methods! I tried all the methods three times and after massaging it a third time, I forced a restart and it turned on. Thank you for these tips. I was worried there for a moment that it was done for.
Hi!! Thanks so much for the video. I got mine working by adding it into the freezer for approx 20 minutes and squeezing the SIDES of the phone rather than the screen and back. Hope this helps anyone out there!
Did everything! Black screen, I could still feel my phone vibrate, etc... Followed the steps, left phone charging and knew from the amount time it was plugged it had to be at 100% (plus, before it died, I was around 90%). Grabbed the wife's phone, called my phone, and magically BSD went away, phone started up like a usual power on, and phone call came through. Talk about weird. Hope this comment helps!
Thank you so much, youre a life saver, my phone is basically new and I was so scared because I didn't know if this was a normal thing. The phone massage then restart was the thing that worked for me.
Had to come back to show my gratitude.Tried all the steps. The last step was freezing... It worked after 12 mins. Thanks for sharing this and saving us money!
I was already desperate, I had tried all the steps before putting it in the freezer ... I thought: it is not possible that putting it in the freezer will work ... and it returned to normal. You are a god thank you
My Samsung note 8 suddenly turned black and switched off..there is no notification sound ..cellphone is totally off ..I only can see circle charging when plugged in but without showing percentage ..I tried button methods it doesn't work..may you help ?
