I would say that it´s a tie. Some photos look better with exynos, some with snapdargon.

Speaking as a photographer, I find these results to be *very* interesting. About colors, saturation and white balance, those I actually don't care about. They are applied dynamically according to the scene so they can vary between two shots, even when you take them with the same device. What I find way more interesting is the sharpness of the images when you compare the individual cameras. The ultrawide cameras appear to be identical in sharpness. The 3x tele camera looks to be the same as well. The 10x camera, which I am pretty impressed with when it comes to my own Exynos S22 Ultra, seems to be sharper on the Exynos variant. You see that at 3:58 for example. At 30x and 100x zoom the Exynos version is also sharper. Which makes sense! These shots are AI processed so it is reasonable to assume that Samsung can do that better with their own chip. However, and this surprises me, the 108mp main camera seems to be WAY sharper with the Snapdragon version. The street at 1:50 is a lot sharper and at 2:00 you can make out more details in the bricks the graffiti is sprayed on.

few comments: 1. I would argue the main camera shots are oversharpened on the Snapdragon (via software) 2. yes Exynos is sharper at zoom but it's possible some slight movements happened when taking the shots with the Snapdragon while Exynos was more stable. Still overall prefer Exynos and believe it has better opportunity for upgrades vs snapdragon

indeed 108mp main camera looks better on Snapdragon. But there can't be different hardwares, do you think Samsung will "fix" Exynos 108mp camera performance with updates?

I think it's time for Samsung to allow us to choose which processor we want, or just switch to using one processor. In the UK I can only get Exonos and image stabilisation is much better on the Snapdragon.

This is a very interesting video, and in fact if you ask me, if we are just dealing with photos alone, i prefer the exynos one over the SD, but video wise its the SD variant because Exynos needs to fix that stabilization one...

IDK man at 2:57 there is definitely more detail on the SD version just look at the top structure especially significantly more texture detail, I noticed it instantly. the very next image the red on the right side had more detail in it on the snapdragon as well the bike shot at 14:36 look at the tires completely crushed on the exynos detail is still visible on the SD version couple more exmaples I noticed but SD is a touch better in most images especially with white balance it is less coerced by surrounding lighting .

did you look carefully? the sd has wayyyy more detail. look at the concrete and the details in general. the exynos looks like canvas the sd has much sharper images. you can see every detail

I tested the exynos in a shop a lot of times and there was no problem with stabilization. The obvious reason for the stabilization differences in this handheld video you can test yourself. Walk and pan with your left hand and then with your right arm. If you're right-handed it will always be more stabilized with that hand.

Great comparison with nice challenging shots! I would slightly lean to the Exynos except for stabilisation (wich is straight garbage for a 1000€+ Device, i hope they can fix this). but to my eyes the differences aren't as drastic as with the s21 ultra wich is a good thing. totally agree with you though, both versions should perform as close as possible.

if you're watching this on a widescreen monitor you will notice SD has more detail in the photos. its videos look sharper.

Agreed, the Exynos variant tends to look a little soft. I kinda feel the Snapdragon takes it a bit too far in the other direction though, with clear white fringes showing up on certain objects. Hope updates can balance that out a little, getting right in between the two feels like it would be an excellent compromise.

I haven't looked at the selfies (not something I'd use much), but I'm definitely seeing some overall stronger sharpening on the Snapdragon variant's main/ultrawide cameras. I feel like 1:45 is a particularly good example there, with the more distant trees and far end of the street starting to show fringing/noise, but with it also managing to pull out way more actual detail on the road and walls. (55" 4K OLED on a PC at 4:4:4 chroma, ~1.5 meter distance, in case it matters)

I thought that the Exynos has received a camera update but it is yet to arrive for the SD8G1 S22's yet. So, I would probably wait another month or so to get the same updates through.

The Exynos has a little bit of pop as compared to the Snapdragon chip plus the skies are way punchier in colour and the pics, in general, are way sharper in the Exynos as compared to Qualcomm. I was thinking about how well the GPU would do as compared to Qualcomm. Can you pls compare the GPUs of both of them, it will be an interesting proposition to see.

Snap is more sharper than Exynos, just look on min 3:00 then 3:25 on the closest asphalt part or to the yellow mark or the restored dark-gray part on the road. It would be nice to upload the images so that everyone can check the difference on their screens and make sure that Exynos is in big trouble here. This needs publicity, in Korea is delivered with Snapdragon, and Exynos is practically only for Europe region and comes out more expensive, but the quality is shameful for this reference/price!

In many photos I prefer Exynos. Plus it looks like zoomed shots are better detailed on Exynos. Maybe it has something to do with the AI. What I like on SD is the video stabilization and that it doesn't crush the blacks in some shots.

Exynos has a slightly better HDR but not really dramatic. You won't be able to see the difference until you compared them in side by side. Great job from samsung for both versions

I wonder if you compare exynos vs exynos if the photos would be also different? I think that UI is also working different from one phone to another. If you move phone just a little bit, photos will be little bit different.

Some small differences between the two versions, in some situations is slightly better one, in others the other, but I think it is a matter of personal preference of each one... In video stabilization in the exynos equipped version has improved from the last videos I saw on RU-vid, but is still inferior to the SD version.

Nice try, but you left out one very important detail in your camera comparison, that is, which photo or video captured is more accurate to the actual scene? Instead you put too much effort into describing which photo is brighter and darker.

Thanks for sharing the video. Very interesting comparison of two different chipset mobile phone. I tend to like Snapdragon for reason of better hardware processing so it handles a bit better in camera than Exynos. I noticed some worm effect in some of low light image you show. Like the hair on the side. Its fairly aggressive noise reduction in Exynos. But I don't get it that zoom is completely opposite that Exynos did better. That is odd. So the snapdragon has issue problem with zoom in.

Tbh i don't know what people look at when they say the Exynos looks better? Maybe biased comments for owning 1 version over the other? Well, i don't own either(and will not buy the phone either) and tbh the snapdragon looked better in 90% of the cases. There were a few instances when the exynos looked better but it got traded with weird coloring (to much red etc). And also in alot of the Exynos photos it felt like it had a dust filter on it (like the lens still has the plastic protection on). Otherwise the snapdragon took this win hands down. Better coloring in most cases. Sharper image and better stabalization. Whoever says otherwise needs to look again with neutral eyes.

People who say that Exynos is better must be watching on their cell phone or a bad monitor. I watched it on a 4k monitor and there's no way to compare it, SD much superior in colors, resolution, focus, etc.

@@gjna5143 Well, i don't need glasses. Tested my eyes very recently. But you need to look at things with a neutral mindset. I were in your position with the S21U (exynos). I also kept saying (making myself believe) that the exynos held up against the snapdragon.... and when it didn't i kept saying (as Samsung also said) that updates will fix things... It did to some degree, but the snapdragon also improved with the updates. In the end, 1 year later the snapdragon model of the S21U is still superior to the exynos one, not by alot, but it is. And the same thing is happening again. And the same people are defending Samsung and exynos..... again. And as long as people does this nothing will change as Samsung will get their money and thats it. Don't think for a second that they think about you or the people when they make their decisions.... It's all about the money!

The Exynos seems to let a lot more light in or, at least, tries to capture more light in each shot. The glare in the selfie is a prime example. The same sort of thing is happening on almost every shot where the sky is included. The Exynos is also a cooler tone. Much more blue.

So I have the exynos and I have heard how terrible its supposed to be, I have had the March update, I can't fault the phone. My previous phones were s21 ultra, fold 3 (thank you ee anytime upgrades) I thought some of the exynos shots were slightly sharper but I did watched this on my phone screen . Anybody who is thinking of getting a s22 ultra exynos my advice would be to get it. This is the best video I have seen regarding the snapdragon vs exynos

Very nice comparison I think the SD model is more contrasting.I find your skin color more natural with the Exynos. The SD model seems to have a much bigger focus in some pictures ....... both are different but good. That was the most interesting video for me so far ...... Hello, S908B Exynos 12/512 GB on Android 13 OneUI5 firmware 11/2022 here. I am an advanced user with alot of experience on Android, custom roms, kernels & tweaks ! From my experience, this phone is a true beast, no lags, no thermal problems, good battery, great stabilitation high quality videos, great sharp fotos, all are fine ! So i bet this device it is at the same level as the snapdragon variant ! I have no idea why so many people are talking bad about exynos variant !

1:10 take a look at the nearest part of the street. On Exynos, the pattern of the red area moves in a weird way, sort of jumping from left to right. Also the cracked paint of the white line is much sharper on the Snapdragon. 2:50 again, Snapdragon is much sharper. I might say that it's a little bit oversharpened but on the other hand the Exynos is a bit too soft or event blurry as it didn't capture all the details that Snapdragon did.

Quite a few differences here are probably due to minute differences in positioning or change in light between images. The lens flair one for example is not quite in the same place. They seem very similar. Very small differences in how the image is processed. Unless you compare you're not going to notice much difference which is good. Hasn't always been that way.

Photos are very very similar in most situations i like that but thr video is much better on the snapdragon it is so obvious specially in low light

Exynos seems to consistently boost red tones. This is especially noticeable in the shot of the Colonel on the stool for instance. Snapdragon seemed to resolve finer details more consistently.

Being direct: * I liked the comparison more than the opinion expressed... note 9 for the comparison in general because of the somewhat diplomatic opinion, when the results do not allow diplomacy. * In the photos, the Snapdragon in most cases has more contrast and sharpness, while the Exynos has a sort of yellowish tint, not appropriate. OBS: In foods where the yellow tone would be interesting, who brings this is Snapdragon. * In the videos, much better stabilization on the Snapdragon, but with a little better details on the Exynos, but in general the balance tipped the balance for the Snapdragon in videos. Finally, I think this was one of the best camera comparisons showing the different results generated on the S22 Ultra by the chipsets, but the explanations, in addition to being monotonous, tended a lot towards neutrality when there were discrepancies in the results, mainly in the photos, and that's why the comments were much to be desired. imo, Save your money keep your current phone, if you want better camera get a camera. It would do better in low light and has more dynamic range.

Thanks for the review, very useful and complete comparison. To me, the white balance looks better on the Snapdragon, also there is more color "separation" and way less rolling shutter on the Snapdragon too. I suppose I will have to import again...

I think if Samsung want to continue with using two different SOCs, i.e. Snapdragon and Exynos, then they really need to ensure that the image and video quality on both are the same. (Or as close as is possible.) There were some quite big differently both phones. Fix the damned colour cast. Fix the awful blurriness and general out of focus look. (Like the first image of your burger. The exynos image is all blurry.) Improve the texture and detail of both. It seems to flit between the two phones depending on some random chance. Now question is, which did you find to be more colour accurate of yourself? Which was better?

Nothing that can't be fixed with updates but what I see is: *Video stabilisation better on SD *Ultra wide slightly better on SD *Zoom better on Exynos at all levels *Front cam better on the Exynos *Portrait better on the Exynos *Night video quality better on Exynos If the video stabilization gets fixed on the Exynos, the Exynos overall is the better camera it seems. Thank god the Exynos finally gets a win over the Snapdragon...

They are both great and obviously, as you say, stabilization will get fixed. They do appear at the moment to have different color science with the Exynos warmer so does come down to subjective preference. I have seen some YT creators saying they have not had an update yet whilst my Exynos S22U had a big update, so maybe the SD8G1 will be different after that? My S22U def got better after the update especially in low-light.

Exynos and ISOCELL combination is great comparing to the SD and Sony combination...Although video stabilization, portrait and color looks kinda better in SD 8 Gen 1...Exynos tends to use lower processings than SD version does...

I honestly don't know how you missed the difference in sharpness between the two phones. It's incredibly obvious even through a youtube video. Snapdragon wins hands down on the sharpness front. Also, exynos crushes blacks more often while Snapdragon stays more true to life on blacks.

I notice you're Snapdragon biased, likely cause that's the one you have. Zoom is clearly better on the Exynos at all levels, yet you just say 'looks similar'...
