I recently purchased the S22 Ultra 512gb coming from the IPhone 13 pro max and the one thing that was bothering me was the battery! With all these tips and now with GOS toggled off, I already notice a huge difference. Thank you!! 😊
I get excellent battery life, using nova prime, Bluetooth always on, data always on, auto brightness, dark mode always on, screen resolution is set to WQHD+. Recently I got 5.5 hours screen time with 40 % battery left.
Thanks for the video. Very clear n crisp. I don't have any complaints on my S22U battery life. Its great. All maxed out settings, GW4 connected and i get on an average of 6.5 to 7 hrs of SoT and 20hrs of standby time with 20% battery still left before i plugin. Only three things i do differently. 1. I disabled all kind of Fast charging options. Yes, it will take 2hrs to finish the charge but am fine with that since am adapted this way. This way my battery will take less heat compared to fast charging 2. I make sure to use wifi all the time. 3. Use Nova launcher. Yes its not as fluid as oneui launcher but it saves buttery.
While I´m agree for most of the recommended settings and ....every single video out there keeps recommending to switch on the adaptive battery or adaptive power and guess what..... switching all them off has been a game changer, in terms of battery life, for me. ( S22 Ultra 512 Gb, Snapdragon). Anyway, having to disable half of the features of a phone - a brand flagship phone- just to get a just fine battery life, speaks tons about Samsung design department . Great video.
Some of these are obsolete with latest update (Apps, Contact, About Device Care). There now is only an option "Restart when needed" and you cannot set specific times. I'm going to try it out as it Adapts to the user's phone usage. Same deal with "Adaptive Power Saving." Doesn't seem to exist. Thanks for the tips! It's really unbelievable how I keep finding new tricks after watching multiple videos. Yes, some are obvious and some overlap but I always learn a new trick! ✌️
Stellar advice series. Very helpful in not only battery-energy savings, but in letting me know about everything from Developer Mode, to the various levels of customization that Android is known for. Apple doesn't have even close to Androids level of detailed custom operations, and I'm glad I switched over. I'm going to have fun continuing to customize. Now, if Android could improve the battery, so power-saving options will no longer be any sort of need....time will tell.
Great tips - thank you. My other tip is to setup a Bixby routine that disables fast charging at night. I find slower charging extends battery life and produces a better quality charge, so this tip helps you automate having fast charging available during the day when you might need a quick top up, and then slower charging at night while asleep. Also, add all of your messaging apps to sleep mode and see which you can live with under that condition. Teams was a big battery drain for me as I use that often, and while it tells me in the app it’s not running in the background I don’t seem to have any issues receiving message alerts with notifs enabled
@@OT4Tech thanks! Also, I noticed recently Sammy introduced an Extra Dim setting which can be added in Quick Settings. Great for when in dark environments - really lowers the screen down a notch or two to make it more comfortable to use while saving power
also, set your protect battery to on before your sleep routines and off 30 mins before your alarm. that means your battery will stays at 85% and only shoot to 100% right when you need it
Love the idea of using AMOLED black wallpapers and tweaking the Always On Display settings. What I've been always using ever since is the dark mode. One more tip I'd add though - use a Chargie. It helps manage your charging by stopping the battery from going past a set percentage, like 80%. Worked like a charm for my phone.
Already did some of these myself maybe about half of them or so but the ones I didn't do should definitely improve my battery life as they seem to be some of the biggest battery uses for me. I barely made it through a 12 hour day today and had to turn on battery saver at 40% and my phone died as I got home. I'll update tomorrow to let everyone know how well it worked. Thanks again for the video.
Another great video, thank you. I thought the last suggestion might add to battery drain though? Doesn't alternate game performance management being switched on actually mean the phone won't be able to smartly balance performance versus battery usage, as the phone would run at full throttle all the time? Happy to be corrected but that's the way I always understood it.
@@OT4Tech, as someone who doesn't game much, I've been throttling my phone performance for nothing in that case, even though I knew about this toggle. Thanks for the tip 👌
I'm shocked it says you're getting 2 days full battery life from 100%! I did a few of these changes and my battery life went from 18hr to 1d 6hr but after the june or july update (probably july because thats when I noticed a change) my battery has been draining much faster! I'm dropping back below 1d battery life from 100% and my screen on time is never more than 4hr a day. It's ridiculous. I had the S21U and was regularly getting 1d 18hr with same usage so I guess I just got a bad chip this time around... Oh well, I have invested in fast chargers to I can survive but I worry about what will happen when I transition to working in the hospital for long hours and no longer have a charger at hand to top off my battery. I hope S23 or later devices improve the battery because we can see iPhone (with far less features compared to a Galaxy of course) can get 2d+ battery life on one charge.
Some of what was shown I was doing and I was getting two days on full charge with about 4-6 hours SOT. Just made some other changes by his suggestions so I'll see if anything changes. The biggest help for me is turning off location services, using Tasker, at night or putting it into battery saving locations while at work or home.
@@garyvolk2683 ahhh battery saver would definitely stretch the total time for the phone. I might have to try using that during work hours to incentivize myself to work instead of screw around on my phone (plus get some extra battery).
Thanks for this. So many people out there that have garbage advice for this phone. I've learned a ton about my phone just by watching your channel and your little tips and tricks.
I always get 6-9 hrs of screen on time. The reason for this degree of variation is because of my screen off time. But 6hrs is the bare minimum that this phone delivers to me
I missed here a main information which is what improvement you get from all of these? What is battery life before and after? Not mentioning that it matters if this is Exynos or Snapdragon version. Don't get me wrong, video is great but mentioned by my things are quite important for the people that looking for such tips.
Battery life is subjective since everyone’s use is different. I don’t use every single one of these tips at the same time. However, by using some and others when I need to I can get over a day easily on a single charge. I have the snapdragon variant.
@Jonathan Casey a lot of reviews showing turning off GOS will causing more battery usage during gaming. Do you mean daily non-gaming usage with GOS off will save battery more???
My battery in s22 ultra drains soo fast I can't tell you how fast. I mean one 1 minute it's 100% and like 2 3 minutes later it's already at 98% and I didn't even use the phone :( I just started using it and super upset that the battery is dying this fast. Is it just me??
Hi. What's the difference between Adaptive Battery, Adaptive Battery Saving and Power Saving on S22 Ultra? Which one yo have on and off and why. Looking forward to your reply. Thx.
Very useful video. What application do you use to share your screen to your PC so that you can record it and show it to the right hand side? There are various methods, so would be good to know which one works best for you. Thanks.
@@sumner2q it does..you have to go to more network settings click Verizon active sim .. scroll down and choose what network you want to use. It still opens the hidden menu
Hello. I live in Portugal and I'm a big fan of your videos. I have a S22 Ultra and I have a problem: if the smartphone screen is not turned on for 1 hour, the notifications, for example, from gmail suffer a delay of approximately 15 to 30 minutes, relative to my PC notifications. How can I resolve this delay? I would be very grateful if you could help me. Thanks.
For the last feature under alternate game performance management, maybe a silly question but I've been seeing videos on this particular toggle on/off. Some people are saying that for people that tend to game longer and see a drop in their performance those people may want to turn this feature on to ensure a smoother experience. Wouldn't keeping this feature on worsen heat issues? And for those that are trying to save battery life shouldn't this feature stay off? Thanks
As long as you have the optimized charging setting turned on in the settings it should be okay. The biggest issue is when people leave their phones on the charger for long periods of time.
I have a Samsung Galaxy s22 ultra and after its latest update, its bluetooth stopped connecting to my cars bluetooth which creates a problem. Just wanted to know your input on that
3:34 FYI lowering resolution doesn't save any battery what so ever, as many tests were repetitively done and showed no difference, also adaptive display can save more battery than going to 60 hz, but that's only assuming that u don't keep touching your screen(touching it activates 120fps, not touching it makes ot dial down to adapt to current app/apps 14:45 ,so there seems to be confusion and a misunderstanding that turning on adaptive brightness saves battery, but it doesn't, it uses more power(not a significant or noticeable amount) because it's constantly running, using ram and gpu power, again it doesn't use much but it's definitely not saving any battery.
Reducing the screen resolution has been proven to improve battery.. not sure where you got this information from. Of course if you leave your phone in 120hz and don’t touch the display you’ll save battery lol. Your not touching the display there for the phone isn’t being used… if you don’t use adaptive brightness the display cannot go into its lowest or highest setting. Again, not sure where you’re getting this info but it’s not correct.
That is 1 test however I can point to others including my own testing showing that there are improvements based on usage. For instance during video streaming on RU-vid will save a small amount of battery. I never said it was a huge amount but a few minutes here and there add to up to a big difference. www.androidauthority.com/does-1440p-affect-battery-life-947778/
@@OT4Tech Because that is comparing a native 1440p display to a native 1080p one, and when switchingto 1080p via software there's only a small difference while gaming as the gpu doesn't have to work as hard (this is not the same for all games, as most of them have a fixed resolution so screen resolution will not matter. 1080p on a native 1440p display won't save any power as you can see in the video that other user posted. So yeah, you're wrong
Hi. Any idea why my fb app not stopped showing badge notifications? If l get a notification it shoes inside the app but no number on the actual app. I have tried all settings check, reinstalled, restarted the app and nothing. My badge is toggled on. It was working just fine and just stopped. Looking forward to your reply. Thx.
Actual experience Comparing with Huawei P30 pro, even if it is an older phone, the huawei phone is better with battery performance and quickness of UI. Even with 24/7 Bluetooth on the huawei can maintain the charge. Even the convenience of switching networks for dual sim is way better with p30 pro. The only advantage the S22U has are the cameras.
Im moving back to Android from apple , traded my 13 mini for s22 so igueas i need to start warching this kind of videos 😀 not something you have to even think about using apple device
the battery of this phone is just shyt. my p30 pro battery 3 y old lasts longer than this brand new shyt phone. how can i pay 1300eur for a phone and set it all to economic mode? :)))why would i pay so much for a phone if i have to set it to eco mode ? brand new s22 ultra and screen on time phone goes from 100 to 0 % in aprox 3 hours
Sure I do, I just know people that work lol. I worked as a CNA, a nurse, a therapist, and a director of rehab for years. My wife is a therapist as well. If you’re doing a good job and working you shouldn’t have a ton of time to be on your phone.
Alternate performance toggles off GOS. GOS constantly runs in the background where as alternate does not. GOS has been proven to drain battery more when not gaming and cause overheating issues. All of this was stated in the video.
I'm a but confused. You're phone shows some 1 day and 6 hours left but after that video you lost more then 20%. And also it's impossible that u can have such times for the S22 Ultra without full power save mode. So nobody can tell me that Samsung can optimize the battery life like that, cause the display on time with Samsung phones is trash (I have also since 8 years a Samsung).
@@Gwrightproductions1 doesn't matter. Even then it's not possible. As I said, even at full power safe mode it's not possible. And he hadn't even set it to the lowest level. If it's possible, show us how. He is just a cheater to get views. Prove us wrong.
I've done all this and still get less than a day of usage. This phone is supposed to have an enormous battery but lasts no longer than my $60 motorola.
Mine lasts less than 6 hours on power saving, gone back to my note 9 as with the same use it'll last over a day, ultra would have drained a power brick by then.
Sounds a little sketch. I haven’t had any over heating issues with the S22 Ultra outside of the screen dimming. Slight warmth to the backside is normal for any phone especially if you’re recording in 8K…
@@OT4Tech well I must wait how 14 pro max will manage the heating in 8k, then I will decide my nex 4 or 5 year flagship, last month I sold my 12 pro max! Anyway this was exynos model here in Europe!
Thank you very much for this awesome tips & tricks video, it helped me to improve battery life a lot. :) Can you also please let us know or Pin the case you are using in the video. It looks awesome on the phone...Thank you!!!
I'm watching this and I don't even have a s22 ultra or any s22 im hoping I can get one eventually right now I have a Motorola one 5guw and the battery is amazing I get up to 2.5 days without even trying and if I tried I could probably get 5 days and I don't baby my phone it's been in below 0 temptaures in my pocket all day while stayed up north for 8 monts now I'm back home in 100+ heat everyday and this phone is now a year old as of the 15th and if anybody actually read this far that has the s22 ultra is it good I love the camera and battery and simpleness of my phone I have now...... I know Samsung's are more complicated but I'll deal with it if it means I get a better phone
Unfortunately lol I held on to my note ten for like three years just to have similar or worse battery.. I expected iPhone level battery or at least close.. no way should 4-5 hr screen time be acceptable for 2022..the processor sucks.
@@OT4Tech yea I know that's why you did the video but I was expecting to get a good explanation other than that. Maybe share the daily tasks you do with your phone?
