The truth is that most of high end devices have reached a place that is hard to say that one is better than other, because half a second difference on opening a game or an app isn't a large difference and on day-by-day use you can't feel that difference. You can only see in videos because it's literally a side by side comparison, but in a common usage, there is no difference at all.
The fact the fold has a shorter front screen is on of the attractive things about it. Close shoudl prioritize ease of use for one hand and open should be a optimized for two.
i switched iPhone to SAMSUNG Z fold 6, IPhone's time is gone Because Apple is repeating same design since 5 years. Apple is Nothing providing new except increasing price.
A fake apple user trolling iPhone X,Xs,11pro - 15 pro all worth $999. Price increase? A vulnerable foldable worth $1899 is abetter deal? What are you talking about 🤣
@@avexdl9501 I am making the same switch I can no longer ignore the scalability and innovation with Samsung . I will miss apples OS line up and their ecosystem but I am bored with their hardware designs
As an avid fold user.. had the fold 1, 2 and now the 3... I am addicted to the huge screen, but every single one of them had screen issues/defects either with the front screen or inner screen giving out.. now I'm really considering going with the ultra... thanks for the video.
The reason the samsung fold isnt larger on the outer display is because its suppose to be a minimalist phone . Then u open it and get what u need. Thats why spen wont work on it either. However they need to make a galaxy note fold. Or fold ultra. Add larger display and everything the ultra phones are gonna have.
The way will be to make a simple and an ultra model: - a slim Fold 6 without SPen - an “S24 ultra” Fold with everything I wouldn’t buy the Fold 6 as it is for more than 1500/1600€.
Both are amazing I just think they should focus on optimization of the UI and smoothness a little more + animations are sure improved i remember back then when they would try to cramp everything into one device without optimizing the phone well😓
8:03 playing Temple run lost jungle on Fold 6 is impressive! It's give you a chance to see the ancient Khmer temples (nowadays mostly in Cambodia) graphics stunningly.
the issue with making the front screen of a fold the same size as an s24U is the ratio for full-screen media.. the more narrow the front screen, the more 4k-like the screen dimensions are when using apps like Netflix / RU-vid on the inner screen. This fold 6 is fine, but the inner screen BARELY shows media in a larger area than the S24U screen because of the squarish dimensions when opened up
Sounds like u have s24u.. You are talking about 1 small thing where the screen is smaller than expected. But every single other app the screen is twice as big and show twice as much content. In every single app and program on the phone. Huge difference. But you somehow focus on some videos as if its the only thing you use your phone for lol.. Even on youtube you can read comment section while watching videos which you can't on s24 unless you want a tiny picture lol. Huge win that u don't have to put the fold in landscape and keep rotating your phone just to get a bigger picture. Multitasking is just On a whole other level
The value of the OnePlus open is down to 600 bucks. So the 1700 OnePlus open is only worth $600 now. While the default 5 is still worth between 900 to 950
@@ryusan717 oh you mean with trade in its $600? Yeah I thought about it for a bit but I knew Samsung wouldn't give you much for trading it in if I liked the ZF6.
man 1 : Wait I will bring tablet to show you in big screen Man2 : dont worry i have one in my pocket 🤯 Update : i used fold 6 for 2 weeks & Switch Back to S24U .. Real Beast is S24U
I'm having S24U. Is the upgrade to Fold6 worth it, or shall I go for Samsung's tabs, such as S9 or S9 Ultra? Purpose: notes making, video lectures, image and video editing.
@user-ei4rg3im2h fold 6 beats the s24 for the simple fact that if I want a small tablet, I have it. Also, with it closed, I can text and navigate much easier without having to use a second hand. And I'm a big guy with big hands.
Nick Why don’t you start doing a real speed test, rather than apps opening? Even if you are using the same 2 smartphone for app opening, one will still appear to be faster. So I suggest you do a real speed test, like video rendering test, and use a 3D project work for real test 3D rendering test of the project. That’s more fun than this
@@mikldude9376 bro That is why smartphones have RAM, once an app has been open, it remains in the ram memory, which require no time at all to revisit. So what are you saying? How long does it take you to revisit an app that you have already opened before?
Would be more interesting to use real world stuff, for example taking a photo editing a certain preset of edits for the photo then immediately going to instagram and uploading it to a story, after thats done going into a game immediately (cod, pubg, genshin, whatever). That sort of tests to see whether the phone will stutter or slowdown rather than just opening and closing an app...
He used to be better he did video rendering. now all he does is same apps open and reopen. that's not speed test if you open app only then you don't need these flagships, flagships are used for gaming, editing, rendering etc.
@@techfanatic9283No, you are paying for Portability of such a big screen, the more complex screen tech, the R&D for the hinge and Overall Optimization of various apps and UI elements for that big screen ( For instance just see how Insta looks on iPad) and additionally you are paying for ecosystem. And the cameras are not absolutely trash, they are easily better than any mid-range phone (not pixel though) and are pretty much similar to base S24 or S24+ qlty wise.
what most people looking for fold and flip dont know is the hinge cable gets messed up and then samsung forces your to replace the whole inner screen. You can find thousands of posts about this online. You can search zfold 3 hinge issue or no sound etc and see the repair videos. There is also a horrible rubber sticker that stops it from unfolding completely as it starts peeling inside, jamming the hinge.
You get used to and totally forget about the crease literally within a few days of using it. Only time you ever really notice is if the light hits it using it outside
Could you add a speedtest section into all the phones you review, I saw it on on some with wifi being a comparison point but maybe also add a mobile data speed comparison. Out of these two on cellular and wifi which one performs better? And is it a great difference? Thanks
@Jasonbourne19741 yeah I'm getting the fold 6 today should be here in 40 mins if anything just wait and I'll tell u better. I had the 24ultra since launch
@@thepainter6486 of course the storage chips are different, they have different capacities. I cant find info about an exact storage setup but you can see with SSDs, e.g. the Samsung 980 Pro, the 2TB is 7000MB/s and the 1TB is 3500MB/s because the number of physical chips doubles and it can store things in parallel
Also I do find the s22 ultra I had, the camera was better with more options via the fold 6. Plus it doesn't come with a stylus pen. Got to buy it. Really enjoyed your video. Thank you
Nick, this side by side got painful to watch. Heres the deal... its the same proccessor and GPU, and the same RAM. The FOLD has two displays that GPU is pushing. If you wanted a fair side by side you would have launched the games with the fold closed using one screen, BUT you didn't. The slight delay your side by sides run make sense considerring double the displays being pushed by the hardware. It's a reductive comparison.
@@TheKnight106how it feels like to be a fan and buy 1800$ 2 year max lifespan foldable phone which has very noticeable and tangible crease which look soo cheap😂
@@beyondwilline3634 The fact you mention the crease proves you have never owned one nor can afford one. Cringe bro bet you took awhile working on your comment shame its stupid. Maybe buy the phone and you will soon realise your comment is stupid. Yeah it has a crease if your not the one using it. If you use it no crease is visible at all so If you cant afford the phone just shhhh
Its not for everyone maybe work harder and one day you can experience it for yourself ;) I can tell from your comment you have never owned one cause its a very silly un educated thing to say. Yeah it has a crease if your not the one using the phone but if you use the phone it has no crease visible to your eyes So gg on your one screen phone.
I went from the ZF3 to the S23 Ultra and now I'm going back to a foldable with the ZF6 the only real cons is the battery dies faster and the camera aren't as great but there still great
@WristWatcher nope i didn't. Played with it, felt too brittle. I wanted it mostly for streaming sports on the go but the aspect ratio wasnt any better than an S24ultra. I also have a tablet so that played a factor.
An explanation for the fold being a lower performing device apart from optimization is that the vapor chamber is much smaller storing and dissipating less heat but also the fact that there isnt anything similar to a graphite pad going between both halves, leaving one side to be heated by battery and the chipset while the other half is only lightly heated by the battery. The fold when split in half is a smaller surface area than an s24 ultra, I'll see if i can't find the video
I daily drive a Fold 4 right now, and honestly i wish people were more realistic about the crease. Its there yes, but even on the Fold4, in everyday use i have to physically remind myself theres a crease. Very seldomly do situations arise where I genuinely am bothered by the crease (Fun Tip: Ive used foldables with no crease, and it did not impact my experience, just made me realize Samsung still has the best software on a foldable, and the crease is simply a sacrifice for that premium software) Honesty, I love the fold phones. They've come a long way and my 512GB Crafted Black F6 is on the way, but, obviously improvements are still needed to make this a truly fantastic investment. Cameras, BT S-Pen Silo and a larger overall body size i think is crucial for the future of Folds. Having a overall wider chasis i believe is also how you can manage to slim down the actual thickness, and add larger batteries and components.
What i want the next galaxy z fold to be: 2 galaxy s24 ultra’s insides put into both of the displays to double the amount of power, slightly bigger screen and make the inner camera of unfolded mode of the z fold to be more less of looking like a 1990’s moniter.
I'm not sure, but I think by default, the folds are set to prioritize battery rather than performance, so you may have to change the performance profile to "Standard" instead of "light".
Much better screen on the Fold...warmer, true whites, better looking colours. Next to other phones it's easy to see the S24U doesn't have the best screen.
I just ordered the Z fold 6 over the 16 pro max because honestly, I have always liked androids more than iPhones but started getting iPhones because of the optimization you get with iOS on iPhones and in my opinion iPhone’s advantage was always iMessage and FaceTime at least for me …. It reminded me of BBM (BlackBerry Messenger) But WhatsApp came around and leveled the playing field as far as that goes. And iPhone still retained some smoothness over Galaxies because of the optimization of their software with their hardware… however, after the S22… things started to change significantly… but I held back just because it could have been that one phone that was dominating but then the S23 and S24 came out along with the Z Fold series of phones and I have to say… Galaxies are in a league of their own right now, just the technologies of those phones versus the iPhones are just light years ahead… iPhones are just the same thing over and over again… but galaxies are like Computers, literally and even better to be honest
I love your deep insight into everything you did in this video. It’s just raw, straight to point, actual user POV. Somewhat reminded me of DetroitBORG reviews. Just subbed!
Both phones are like brothers same performance same display same chipset only things are apart is cameras design and battery size but apart from that both are amazing phones from Samsung
Hey, I've had both the Fold and the S series, and I gotta say, I think it's way better to have a powerful phone like the S24 Ultra and a tablet like the S9 series instead of just have the Z Fold.😊
If it wasn't because of the constant screen protector changes, the small front screen and the worse cameras, the Fold would be the best one for me. RU-vid (and media consumption) and reading are great on the Fold. I barely ever read and watch movies/shows on the S24 Ultra, unfortunately.
@@dewaldswanepoel2577 what a mistake, I did the same but after a week with useless android I went back, u have to wait 2 months for update, and that ui6 terrible
I waited 4 generations to get a fold and got a fold 4. Screen issue just after a year and i traded it with s24 ultra. S24u initially seemed old school. But working with stylus on a hard screen is amazing and now unfolding seems to be an extra useless step. The only thing i miss is the email and whatsapp orientation on inner screen. Majorly i am happy with s24u, mire rugged and more utility.
Nobody is mentioning the fact that the s25 ultra is apparently going to have rounded corners.. I know that's just a rumor but literally months later they won't look like they're part of the same family anymore
Why don't they give the fold 6's outer display the same bezzels as the regular s24 line up? They're twice as thick. I get that the inner display needs the plastic trim to absorb the impact of shutting it closed, byt that outter display's bezzels is outrageous considering what they can do with the regular s24 line up's bezzels. The only reason they're twice the thickness of the regular s series, is that it'll be easier to make the device appear sleeker by trimming those bezzels just a bit, but still nkt as much as this year's s24 line up. By the time they'll make those bezzels as thin as the s24 line up, the s26 won't have any appart from the actual frame 💀
I had the fold 4 and I had to upgrade to the s24 ultra, I don't recommend the folding ones even if you take care of them (zero knocks and dust) they don't last more than 1 and a half years, the internal protective plastic lifts up and the hinge stops opening properly 😒
@NeonPixels81 because Apple iPhone is a close source operating system [don't take much to make it fast] The Android phones are open source operating system [ A whole lot more and advanced tech going on]
Folding phones are the future... waiting for apple to release one... Sittin' on my iphone 14.... If they don't release a foldable by the time my iphone becomes unsupported.. will just leave apple.
does anyone have any tips when starting a youtube channel to get in the spotlight of brand deals for like phone reviews and stuff or do you buy your devices?
Is it just me... I think I prefer the color display on the Z Fold, it looks more natural compared to the S24 Ultra, the Ultra looks like it has a bluish layer 🤔 / maybe this is part From the anti glare feature!!
Tbh not really As they both have the same chip But the fold have not that much room to properly cool the chip cause it's "thinner" (5.6 mm as i remember when unfolded) than the s24 ultra
@@racrickey but don't forget that it's a lot tighter They used that because they don't want it to overheat The 8 gen3 is really powerful, maybe too much for such a tight space
@@racrickey yeah but Don't forget that When folded, the fold 6 have a side in, wich doesn't help When unfolded, the cooling surface takes only the half of the phone and not the entire surface of it
I got the fold 6 yesterday, tried playing cod mobile, lost a couple of the actions folded open, however if you have it regular folded. You get the action buttons back. Weird.
Did you figure it out? Is the z fold 6 a more entertaining device for gaming would you say and overall just entertainment? Is it fast enough for gaming too? Thanks
@@WristWatcher I had to modify the settings on cod buttons. Otherwise buttons are stack. Plus I thought it would be cool to play it opened up. I just play it folded up for now. Keep trying different. I keep update when I figure it fully out.
