I remember some pixel fans got mad at me called me Samsung fanboy on a comment under previous video because i said that probably Samsungs zoom video is better but here we are and i was right: 2:23 2:30 Just turn off vst voice and u will see 😂
It's hilarious to me how much people trash the Samsung cameras in comments, when they objectively perform decently. Same thing happening with animations now, a narrative forms and then suddenly everybody has a problem
Why should they? Even in this video it's clearly seen that it performs sometimes even better than the Pixel... Of course it's no match vs most recent China phones with 3rd gen 1" Sony LYT sensors but still...
@@VelianSpeaksTech that's my point, the criticism is not deserved. The only criticism I have of Samsung is how convoluted the settings are, and how so many features are buried away in difficult to find menus or good lock modules. But if you enjoy tinkering with your tech like me, even this can be a rewarding experience.
@@stevanb.2590 Samsung phones capture a photo when the user takes their finger off the shutter button, instead of when they press it. This is because the phone waits to see if the user will keep the button pressed to record a video. This is an interface choice, not an issue with the camera itself which performs very well, as seen in this video.
@@daleycarter I could not care less if it's camera, interface or alien issue, not being able to capture decent (not great, decent = usable) shot of any moving subject, even in great light is big problem. And it has been like that on Samsung phones forever, one would think they'll do something about it. Competition solved it years ago, so there should be no excuse for unusable pictures of people, kids, pets... anything with even slight movement on 2024. flagship.
I guess there are those who don't watch it with their eyes, but the s24 ultra takes more natural and usable photos. Pixels were also beaten in the video section and stabilization.
This is one of the best camera comparisons I have seen on RU-vid, and let me tell you I have seen hundreds. It is nice how you do present the differences and your opinion is spot-on. Looks like you have experience with mirroless cameras to judge those phones. Keep up this excellent work. One thing I would love to see as extra, is some comparison on RAW files.
@@VelianSpeaksTech Thank you. I have searched about Apple ProRAW but haven't find anything on your channel. If you own any Apple iPhone 15 Pro device, it would be great if you include that too, as Apple's RAW implementation seems to be the best in the market. Thank you again.
Something that learned from the in-depth Tech reviews channel is to stop using the portrait mode altogether. Just use the standard lens and then go into edit and apply portrait after the fact. It is fully adjustable and you get a much cleaner initial image
OK so what's with all the talk I've been seeing online about Samsung having average to below average cameras and Pixels being the king of photography? Honestly, it didn't seem that way to me after watching this vid and in some cases the Samsung just straight up beat the Pixel. Both cameras seem really good but I can't in good conscience say the Pixel dominated or was the "king of photos", not even close.
Both these devices have their strengths and weaknesses. To my eye, they trade blows quite evenly in this test. What surprises me is the GULF in the ratings Dxo Mark give these two devices for both photos and videos not being replicated here or anywhere else?.
Yes...DXO mark are a thing of their own I guess :)) Yes, similar in may scenarios though S24U looks has better detail preservation, sometimes worse exposure control in the day but better in night, it's close but when you start to zoom in and nit pick the differences are visible. The 5x and 10x from the pixel and the ultra wide seemed better to me in most scenarios.
@@VelianSpeaksTech i dont like how flashy green the s24u makes leaves and gras and trees sometimes. for me a good cam is when colors are accurate. i dont know why so much people like the "fake" colors of the s24u . and the picture with the blue pants the S24U is extremly noisy . This happends on my s24u anytime i do a indoor shot with not perfect light condition. for me this is the weakness the s24u has. its no hate against s24u its for me just a fact. every phone has pros and cons
That's because the ratings are based on the release versions of the handsets, and there were a LOT of issues with the S24U on release that were fixed with updates.
Thanks for the video Once again, on the X5, the speed of the google is at 1/400 and ISO 650, while the Samsung is at 1/50 and ISO 100, so it's impossible to be sharp with such a low speed!! Samsung is limited to being at low ISO instead of managing the speed, so blurry galore
@@VelianSpeaksTechmost of the average users, while reviewing photos in their gallery, don't go above zoom that you get with double tap. So, at least in my case, it's that first look of the photo that's most important.
Front facing video from the pixel does it's best to expose the face, and I like that, much better HDR even if it comes off looking unnatural from what one would expect from your regular front facing video

Videos better on the s24 ultra overall. Photos go to the pixel mostly Edit: i take it back s24 ultra photos and videos.. i tried giving the pixel some points but nah
@@VelianSpeaksTech today it is released in Korea, USA and EU will get update on 9. septembar...i saw some Korean youtubers and they tested cameras...pictures are very cleared and detailed , dynamic range is perfect and colors is so natural!
The video stabilization and camera switching are horrible on the pixel for a $1200 phone in 2024 look at 2:37 .Samsung isn’t at the level of apple in camera switching but putting it next to the pixel shows how far ahead they are ahead of a lot of other phones WOW. 4:35 also
I think pixel procceses too much and compromises detail to make the image look better when u dont zoom in it. Wich just makes it as good as Samsung because Samsung is just the other way around. So its about what u prefer there's no best option on that department.
True. I like how vibrant Sammy is, but I also like how pixel process photos, if you don't nit pick, they are quite good tbh... Wanted to show this in my review...
@VelianSpeaksTech yeah only big difference was in selfies and stabilization was definitely better on Samsung, buy on selfies idk I prefer how the Samsung keeps the skin tones a little warm and not too contrasty on the face shadows while the pixel is the other way around because it's trying to not overexpose the scene around the face like Samsung does and the sky ends up looking blown out on Samsung but the face looks right
For me, the S24 Ultra is a better photophone and simply a better smartphone. The days when Pixels were the best at photography and iPhones at video, have been over for at least 3-4 years, people just refuse to admit it 🤷🏽♂️ The Pixel 9 Pro XL is not bad, it's even very good, but, as I always say and contrary to what people say and think, Pixels (since Pixel 5) do not necessarily have a natural colorimetry, they just have a constant colorimetry and white balance, very often pleasant , but not necessarily natural. And honestly, I don't see myself putting or recommending putting $1200 in a smartphone that, apart from the zoom, is no better than an S23 Plus which currently costs $600 🤷🏽♂️
I'm sure that the photo of the pole taken by the 9 Pro XL at 10:05 was more true to life than that of the S24U... Generally speaking I prefer this style of photo and the Pixel I think does it better than the Samsung in the pics in this way. Samsung wins on video by far for its general quality. The Pixel is too mid-range phone for me in other aspects, not to mention the price which completely turns me off.
Like Pixel photos and videos better on most clips until you start to zoom in. But, who zoom in on 12mp photos. If we plan on zooming in, don't we use 50mp
This year's iteration of the pixel pro xl is commanding the same amount of money as the s24 ultra in my region which is ludicrous considering it's an inferior chip manufactured by the s24ultra manufacturer which is again overpriced for what it has to offer. Actually this whole phone thing has gone out of hand. 1300usd for phones! Jesus! It's all about incremental upgrades and whole hearted ignorance for focusing on the next year's release. Complete waste
I think it’s obvious that the details in photos captured by the Pixel are more than those from the S24U. For example, at 8:29, the Pixel captures details of the floor tiles, while the Galaxy just smooths out the noise, making it look like an oil painting. Similarly, at 8:49, I don’t understand why you say the S24U has better detail preservation. From what I see, the S24U just smooths out the roof, making everything look flat and without texture. Even though at 7:20, you said the photos from the Pixel lack details whereas the S24U looks better, I think in that scenario, both photos have a similar level of detail, only with a color difference."
Everytime I observe his video, he always prefers samsung even though its not the case. There was video on comparison of vivo x100 pro vs iphone vs samsung and he constantly was choosing samsung while iphone and vivo were giving photos much better. Atleast he preferred samsung over vivo even though it has one inch sensor. It a no brainer that he is a samsung fanboy
I never owned a Vivo X100 Pro, I had the Vivo X100 Ultra and it easily smokes the S24U in almost every category, especially in the photo domain, that's really no brainer.
Bc when you start to zoom in Pixel photos usually degrade, straight lines aren't straight, excessive sharpness is almost on every shot, and at 700% this is very visible. The only advantages I saw in the Pixel 9 Pro XL are in the 5 and 10x and above plus also better ultra wide and selfie. But for the back main camera this is how I see it. Also a domain where Google was very strong the night photography. Pixel can't control the exposure, blows the highlights, crushes the shadows, I expected that the Pixel will beat the Ultra in night, but I didn't see that happen.
Yes true, the sky looks more detailed but the face looks so artificial on the Google pixel 9 pro XL and the zoom video is so noisy. Can your eyes see anything?
Should have tested moving subjects, especially indoors. That's where Samsung devices fall apart and Pixels have been pretty good. A lot of people I know switched to Pixel/Iphone due to unusable pictures of their kids. Daylight and nature is an easy task even for midrangers these days.
Samsung phones suffer from a slow shutter lag in auto mode, it can be remediated with pron controls but iPhone and Pixels are far better in these scenarios for sure.
@@VelianSpeaksTechyeah, because of that, the first thing that should be tested when it comes to cameras on Samsung is shutter lag/motion blur. Dxomark, as much as they aren't objective, has that simple test with one person walking towards another in indoor conditions.
