We have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite with a damaged LCD. The outer glass is intact, but we'll replace the entire assembly to make the repair easier, and quicker. Follow along for instructions on how to complete this repair yourself.
This is why I love Internet. You're in deep shit because you broke your tablet but of course someone did a video on how to repair it. Thank you so much !!
Thank you for a clear, concise, and straightforward video. I particularly appreciate the cautionary notes. I'm not sure I'm brave enough to do this myself, even though your video is very precise. Again, thank you.
Thanks - did it, but my screen was shattered.... so had to "break it loose" by forcng the digitizer out and leaving a mess of glass splinters around the edges..... despite heating. Scraped that all off and the rest was straight forward - carefull with the tiny PCB board at the foot - that thing is glued on firm, so do not break it - slide something thin-platic under it (guitar pick) Tab S6 Lite is back in business, waiting for my glue to arrive in the mail for the last step. 🙂
Thanks for the comment! Glad the video helped! I hate those little glass shards that stick in the edges. If you have a flat tool (like the flat edge of a precision screwdriver) run it along the edges with the screen off to make sure you’ve gotten rid of them all. They can really mess up your glue job if you miss any!
Great video!! Is the original screen needed to support the s pen, or it's the digitizer board that enables the screen to be used with the S Pen? I found screens priced 60+ euro and others priced 130 euro, it's the digitizer board to make the difference in price? Thank you and sorry for the long question :D
The price range is probably due to some screens being aftermarket and some being OEM. And you’re right, some probably have the digitizer board and others don’t. I’d buy one without the board and just move yours over. Hope this helps, and good luck with your repair!
Thank you so much for a detailed video that was also straight to the point. Question: is the digitizer IC @2:23 responsible for receiving touch? I have a tablet that has a beautifully working display but it won't respond to finger touch, just the s pen. I was initially thinking I needed to replace the led screen but now I'm not sure if I need to do that or replace that digitizer IC.
I can confirm the display is exactly the same, the original display I destroyed had P615/610 written behind, while my model is P613, and this aside they look the same The store where I purchased said it were the same parts Samsung support points use
Hello, thank you for showing how to replace the screen. One question, is this screen original or from china? It seem good. Another question, should i worry about static discharge while i replace the screen? Should i Wear ESD gloves?
This is an OEM Samsung screen. I wouldn’t be worried about static discharge. I’ve never had an issue with it. It’s never a bad idea to be careful though, so if you feel more comfortable wearing gloves or a static discharge bracelet, go for it.
Great video and I''ll be honest, I didn't read all the comments but I wanted to note that it is VERY important that you start from the camera end with your spudger and be very careful as you work around the other end. I accidentally cut the main board to display connector on mine. The cable was like 5 bucks, but still, an avoidable mistake that I managed to make at full speed. I offer it here as a minor piece of unsolicited advice.
Decent repair just a note why did you use glue T7000 and why not strips surely strips have less to none dry time and no clamping required or am I wrong . Great job either way
You’re right, adhesive strips would have been a quicker choice with no curing time, but at the time I made this video I only had 5mm wide tape. 2mm works best with this model. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I've just dropped mine onto a concrete floor and the screen is cracked 😢 but I'd need to take it in to a repair place for this . I wouldn't feel confident doing it myself .
I assume new glass always comes with the screen? My glass is busted but the screen works just fine. Figured I would replace it and figured I had to buy a new lcd altogether 🧐😄 Guess I figured correct, figuratively I mean. Probably. 😂
Mine ghost touches at a specific point. The problem goes away whenever it's plugged. I've noticed that it also occurs(when plugged and usable) when i touch the screen simultaneously using two or more fingers.
I did the dame steps as in the video but the screen did not switch on. I solved the problem connecting the charger and pressing power and - during 10 seconds.
As near as I can tell, they take the same screen. The only major difference is the upgraded processor in the 613. I’m 97% certain the same screen will fit. That being said, attempt at your own risk.
I followed all the steps but the new screen isnt turning on. I plugged in the base and it pings to suggest its now charging so its on but the screen isnt lighting up...ive tried disconnecting and reconnecting all the wires 2x.
While removing the screen, I accidently ripped the ribbon cable for the screen on the bottom, it doesn't matter if the screen is broken anyways but i would recommend everyone to be extra careful at the bottom if you want to reuse the screen.
I have a question. My Galaxy tab s6 (not lite) has shorted out on the screen. I want to have replacement tablet, but get the old files off. I can not attach to computer to try to extract the files because if the tablet gets hooked up with the USB cable to the pc it begins shorting again. If I were to remove the screen and unplug the ribbon cable, could I still access the files by USB cable or would the pc try to charge it and cause dangerous issues? I can not see trying to repair the screen at this point due to cost, and I don't know how to,reset all of the tests after replacement of the screen. Thanks
Hi, there's a little too much going on here for me to be able to say what the problem might be. But if you don't have a screen on your tablet, generally you can't get the files off of it as you'll need to be able to select 'allow' on the screen to let you PC access the files. If your tablet has no lock screen on it and it will boot directly to your home screen, and you've previously used this tablet with this same PC and allowed the connection, you may be ok.
I replaced my tablet's screen twice, but unfortunately, the S Pen is not working properly. It registers the button press and the cursor appears when I bring the pen close to the screen, but it only works in certain parts of the screen. Additionally, when I click on one point, it registers as a click on another point. This issue persists even after testing with other pens, and this is the second screen replacement I have attempted. I suspect that the problem may be with the board attached to the back of the display that contains the Wacom chip responsible for processing the S Pen input. It is possible that this board is faulty and needs to be replaced. Despite the frustration of encountering these technical difficulties after multiple attempts to fix the issue, I am determined to find a solution and restore full functionality to my tablet. I will continue to explore potential solutions and consider replacing the faulty board if necessary.
My first thought would be the daughter board on the back of the screen. Depending on how it was removed and transferred, it could have sustained some damage. You did what I would have done and tried a new screen and different S Pen. Process of elimination points you to the next thing to try which is the board on the back of the screen. It could even have a ZIF connector that has been damaged.
@@colchesterphonerepair3835 The second time I replaced the screen, the flat cable broke! However, the problem was already occurring before I replaced the second screen. It's possible that I used too much force to remove the board from the old screen and damaged it, as I did not heat the board and used a stylus to remove it.
@@colchesterphonerepair3835 "Why is my S Pen not working properly? Reboot the device. Sometimes a simple reboot is all you need to solve the problem. Remove any third-party cases or covers. Many third-party protective cases have metals and magnets that interfere with the connection between a Galaxy Note smartphone and its S"
How much does this LCD cost? I tried ordering an oem lcd for temporary replacement and found one for around 50 usd, I wonder if that's a good deal or not.
Hi, customer described it as a compression break. It was in a backpack, the glass/digitizer was ok but the LCD underneath was damaged, it caused some lines and discolouration on the display.
It could be a few things. The first thing I would check would be the small digitizer board (we move it at the 2:40 mark in the video) is properly connected. If that is connected properly and isn’t damaged, I would say it’s an issue with the screen you were sent.
I used a heat mat, set it to 65 degrees Celsius and let the tablet sit on it for about 4 minutes. If you don’t have a heat mat, you can use a heat gun or failing that, a hair dryer. Just take your time and go slowly around the edge of the tablet (each full circle around should take you about 30 seconds, and go around 10-12 times).
@@colchesterphonerepair3835 I had replaced the new LCD screen but after a while, some lines appeared on the screen. I realised in your video that you didn't take off the tape that covered the board on the new LCD. I did take it off. Is that why the lines appeared?
I still don't understand why the screen of my S6 lite tablet is pixelated, I don't know what the problem would be I don't know if you know what the problem would be?
This ia strange. I've ordered and tested a new screen today and everything was working fine touch wise but I hadn't transferred the digitiser IC over. Makes me more confused over what it's used for
Complete disappointment. Two displays from China were purchased inexpensively from Amazon and did not work. Now in search of the original. I wonder who produces the original? Korea?
Original displays can be hard to find, depending on where you are in the world. If you’re in North America, Injured Gadgets or ESourceParts are decent sites for end users (that is do it yourselfers, and not repair shops)
