Me too. I had the S8+ and it was huge. Definitely not a portable tablet.

Was thinking about the 12.4 inch but for the amount of price like 200$ more the s9 definitely makes more sense.

@@andyH_England When one considers the $300 difference, it's very strange that Android Authority would bother to upload a video comparing the two devices. Though, it won't matter to a consumer, I'd dare say the profit margin on the Pixel tablet is nearly nonexistent. AA could stop with their snobbery against the Pixel tablet and acknowledge the Pixel tablet is very impressive given what's against them. Google knows they can't really compete against Apple's iPad in terms of cost. Any manufacturing facility will gladly offer to produce Apple tablets cheaper per unit than Google's. And Apple will have a contract with the Chinese manufacturer for more units than Google would be willing to agree to. Then, there's Samsung and Samsung has been making displays in all shapes and sizes for a darn long time. There's also the obvious which is Google is not primarily a physical device company. Their core business is selling advertising and search. With that in mind, the Pixel tablet does really shine. Maybe, I wish the Pixel tablet had something akin to a Dex mode. I think that could be a fair criticism but in terms of hardware specs seems to me we ought to grade them on a curve.

People always look at the base hardware and not what Google actually offers on their software. My guy have you tried voice texting with Samsung? It's shitty. I don't have this issue on Google devices. Besides, Google devices are very close to apples software in comparison to Samsungs primitive software. Yeah on paper it's better, but not over all the best device to have.

Got the S8+ and love the size but I agree that in some cases a smaller tablet would be better. Especially holding it in one hand can be hard because of the small bezels. Small Form Factor with AMOLED sounds really good :)

I had 2 tab s7. My son broker there screen on one of them and TMobile sent us a tab s8+. I still prefer there tab s7 because of the smaller size.

Imo the “normal” size is okay enough rather than the plus or ultra version, anything bigger i just watch it on tv

I had the S6 first and then went big with the 8+ and regretted that. If your looking for a TV replacement to watch a lot of movies on or a laptop replacement with a keyboard and dex (although for true productivity nothing beats a slim portable actual laptop) then the + or Ultra are amazing. But just for carrying around, travel, portability the small form factor is so much nicer. I went and ordered the Tab S9 as well this time.

Samsung Tablets are superior. iOS has iMessage/Facetime for those who care about that- Android is better to me for customization and UI - iPhone is closed garden, remedial design, and quite limited. I had an iPhone mini 12 and 13 LOVED the hardware hated the UI, and how iOS does things versus how they are done on Samsung. I'd love an Ultra "mini" device - dreams do come to I hope LOL I have an iPad mini 6th gen - if Samsung or even OnePlus made this in a high end OLED form factor aspect ratio I'd get that and ditch the iPad - Im actually done with LCD so I may get rid of it anyway.

@chriswright8074 ..... where did I say it was. Why do people in the internet struggle with basic reading comprehension. iMessage is superior to traditional sms mms, it's a native feature. I'm not downloading what's app kik or any other redundant app If Google implements a true data native texting for all Android, that would convert A LOT OF APPLE people because most of them say that's why they keep it😄

iPad does not even have expandable storage, not even iPad pro. Big let down.

Galaxy Tabs have better multitasking capabilities but iPads have better app support. Their apps are optimized for tablets unlike Android tablets which take mobile apps and stretch them out.

The Tab S8 is similar in price to the iPad Air M series so they get Stage Manager and it is as good as DeX now on iPadOS 17.

@@Bubbles23XI only a matter of time till android tabs gain more adoption, which is inevitable. It got delayed coz OEMs stopped manufacturing of tabs all of a sudden somewhere in the past 5-6 yrs

android is designed by google but One UI which is basically samsungs skin over android is what makes the huge difference and google did not design that.

I think Pixel will catch up quicker than you think. Besides Samsung can't be better at everything. I mean, Samsung still doesn't haven't KPop's Blackpink and LG screens could someday truly rival Samsung's. Google's doing great when you think of all the knives coming for them. You have Sonos, the EU and the Australians suing them. That's the short list. Meanwhile, Samsung is only dealing with an ex-CEO or CFO possibly facing jail time. Like a flower, South Korea has truly nurtured and pampered Samsung and not tried to sue them to death. Google is treated more like stinky cheese. It may taste good but you're having to bury it under a rock because what would the neighbors think.

@@wolffparkinson I have an Infiland on my S8. it wraps around the screen and stylus too for travel. but I don't think you can get this case anymore WITHOUT getting the BT keyboard too, which makes it pricey.

@stevefitchett6461 I too bought an A7 lite about a year ago - not only was the hardware inferior the software was lacking - it didn't even offer "Smart View" in the gallery to cast media , the SD card couldn't be read properly or accessed by external apps it was such an odd omission on a device with 32GB of storage - RETURNED.

It's called split screen, pop up windows, and DeX, all of which are found on the Tab.

DeX has been around for nearly 5 years now right? I'd say that alone beats out anything iPadOS could ever do, even in the future.

The Samsung tablet looks great and that's not a lie. In terms of the Pixel Tablet bashing, I wish I had owned a tablet in 2016 that looked and operated as good as the Pixel Tablet. A person back then might've bought an iPad because iPads do look good in the store. But, then you're sitting with it and if you can't stand iOS then it's a real problem. Yes, there were Samsung tablets around 2016 but then at that time and even somewhat now they have that scary sticker price. Your inner voice says, how much will I have to use a tablet to justify the over $500 price

That would be a better comparison and, of course, I think Lenovo keeps things interesting. So, many times I almost bought a Lenovo device but it's hard not to buy the bigger well-known brand name. My mind tells me to not focus so much on the brand but there's a part of me that seems to not listen

If you order the S9 from Samsung now, they're doing a free storage upgrade. So you'll get the S9 256GB and 12 GB of RAM for the same price of the 128GB/8GB variant. I hope this helps you. :)

Tab S7 with 6GB of RAM is fine for almost all tasks except graphic design etc.

Samsung's software is what makes the Tab work well in spite of Google.

That means you are still comfortable with apple ecosystem. Just stick with it. Plenty of my friends who switched to Android went back to Apple immediately because they couldn't get cope with Android open ecosystem. Nothing wrong with it, just a matter of people preferences. Me on other hand tried iphone 7 for a few months and be done with Apple once for all

I found it easy leaving Apple and much prefer Android.

The 8G2 alone is enough for an upgrade imo because the 8G1 is widely known as a faulty hot mess. And then Oled, ip68, 8400mah. I think its justified for an upgrade

C'mon, you want them to make it that easy. Still, you have a point. As Microsoft Windows 23 sounds better than Windows 11 unless you're a Spinal Tap fan.

Samsung doesn't release a new Galaxy S tablet every year, so that wouldn't work. Maybe every 18 months or so, a new model is released. Sales in the tablet market aren't big enough to justify a new S model tablet every year

It is need for video calls and photos. If you don't want to see the front camera just buy the normal or + version.

Skype, Zoom, Teams etc and scanning documents.

"Stepping up" is not "closing the gap". Android tablets many be 'value' as an experiment or for a cheap reader, but they just have no internal market to compete and improve ..., cuz no investment in the OS BY GOOGLE to fit a tablets advantages.

Most YT creators are affiliated with Samsung now as they get about 30 cents for every click from their channel. As you can expect many get massive payouts over a year. So treat any review of a Samsung device with a pinch of salt as they want you to click.
