To measure accurate BP, you need to be still. Your motion right after the Omron gave you a reading -- picking up your phone and entering the numbers -- must have changed your actual BP somewhat. You may want to have your phone close to you, so you can enter the numbers with a minimum body movement.
The main reason I bought the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 was to have the blood pressure test. After trying to figure out how to find it in my watch, I finally called Samsung who told me it isn't available in the US. I was bummed. A man at my computer club had 6 different watches with blood pressure monitoring, 3 on each wrist. He couldn't tell me what brand the watches were, but he said they all had them that worked. Is there an app that I can add to my Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 to use, aside from the Samsung app which isn't approved?
I am sorry to hear about that. Many people complained about the unavailability of the BB monitoring function on the watch, but that's because Samsung couldn't get the FDA's approval. As for workarounds, I am unaware of any. Perhaps you can try other options out there that are FDA approved in the US.
Samsung always release innovative tech only then when it is ready. So, Galaxy Watch 4 is just brilliant and its BP measurement seems also great and accurate,
It's still not approved? Why? It works really well. Check out my other video where I tested it in a hospital using the hospital's medical grade BB monitor.
@@WYSbyAdamLash We're a little slow (read: very slow) when it comes to bringing consumer level medical equipment or similar options to market. Maybe one day... over the rainbow... where I hear the grass is green and skies are blue.

Can I reset the watch for recalibration? I wanted to use a more accurate blood pressure monitor, and I don't see a reset option anywhere. I don't think you need to do a factory reset on the watch? I just want to go back to pressure calibration.
@WYSbyAdamLash I don't see the point of having the need to calibration every 28 days . Which mean after paying for this costly watch I now need to buy bp machine feels like a bit of a waste
@robrah11 this device is not a replacement for a medical-grade BP monitor. Think of it more of an early warning system for high or low blood pressure with good accuracy.
Wow 120 is considered elevated!!!??, i wld love to have a 120 bp reading, my bp is always 140's -180's....even with now taking bp meds it's still never down to 120, but certainly not as elevated as before, now it's regularly in the 130's still not normal but better than stroke level😫
The American guidelines are stricter than the others based on research. However, always consult with your doctor before making any medical decisions. Here is also a video that can give you some peace of mind if you have a structurally healthy heart. It is always a good idea to try to lower your blood pressure at least to the 130 to 140 range for systolic. Watch this as well: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QXE3SO05hxw.html This cardiologist is incredible.
@@berkocan2000 it can work with other phones as well. You need to installed "cracked" apps on phone and watch Search "xdaforums Blood pressure and ECG with non Samsung phone"
Hmmm... are you sure you're taking rhe measurement correctly? If it's out of range, then there's a big discrepancy between the watch and the BB monitor. The watch is telling you that the measurement is incorrect. Make sure you enter the values correctly.
@@WYSbyAdamLash thanks for reply, what happens is on the blood pressure monitor I usually get 174/94 with pulse 72 often, but the cheap Samsung software doesn't allow me to be put it in sad 😢
174 is very high (Stage 2) and is close to a Hypertensive Crisis (close to 180). I suggest u go to the hospital first, get yourself checked out, and then try doing the calibration there at the hospital or clinic. The nurse will usually allow u to do that if you ask them nicely to calibrate your watch. Good luck 👍🏻
@@MeaHeaR Follow the DASH diet, exercise, and have a healthy lifestyle. Hypertension is one of the leading causes for serious health problems. Let the doctor examine you as well and see if you need any medication. Refer to this chart from the American Heart Association: www.heart.org/en/health-topics/high-blood-pressure/understanding-blood-pressure-readings
Hypertension Stage 2 is when blood pressure consistently ranges at 140/90 mm Hg or higher. At this stage of high blood pressure, doctors are likely to prescribe a combination of blood pressure medications and lifestyle changes.
Have u tried putting the wrong bp the watch will take or give u the same readings . If u put 199 /90 it will give u about the same readings give or take a few numbers it won’t detect that u put the wrong numbers in.
I have the Galaxy 5 watch pro and you said it perfectly. It depends on which armor goes on. I think this method is not really that accurate when it comes to calibration. The reason why is because you're taking your blood pressure on one side and calibrating on the other.. My arms very a good amount My left arm is probably a little bit higher than my right. Supposed to be doing it in your left arm. I wonder if there's a better way to do it to calibrate.. I don't know why I can't just keep them both on the same arm and do it.
I've tried on same hand and different hand and the measurement on the watch is not accurate at all for someone with high blood pressure. It's basically useless and same as the Chinese fake brands that don't measure anything. The watch only gives measurements of what it was calibrated to read, it doesn't go up or down with your blood pressure as it does with an arm cuff blood pressure monitor. Samsung watch is not worth the money at all. The disclaimer about it not to be used as a medical reading, is just a way of saying, it measures blood pressure, but don't take the measurement for its reading, go and confirm on an arm cuff blood pressure monitor, which is BS to me. Until samsung is able to make the watches read blood pressure without any sort of calibration, just like an arm cuff blood pressure monitor, then don't waste your money to buy these, they are worthless.
@Emmy I disagree. You are entitled to your opinion, but calling the Galaxy Watch "Chinese Fake Brands" insults both Samsung and legit Chinese products such as Xiaomi and Huawei. Try this before judging: Go for HIIT workouts and get your heart pumping. Wait 5 minutes for your heart rate to go down, and take a BB measurement on your watch. You will notice your BB will rise drastically (I tested it once, mine was 145, and I don't have hypertension). This is normal since intense exercise temporarily elevates your BP. If your BP does not increase after strenuous exercise, something may be wrong with your watch. Send it for service or update your watch and get the Watch 5.
@Emmy @Emmy The watch can at least alert you for abnormally high or low readings. If your readings are abnormally high or low and feel some unusual physical symptoms, contact a nearby hospital immediately for proper medical attention. Measure at least 2 more times again if you are judged not to be in an emergency
No, it's not. It has smart sensors that can measure your blood pressure through pulse wave analysis as you wear it. To ensure accuracy, users should calibrate their device at least once every four weeks. Users should measure their blood pressure when at rest, as they would do with a traditional cuff, and refrain from measuring when they are working out, smoking, or drinking.

I respect your opinion, but I disagree. The watch can alert you to large increases or decreases in blood pressure. I had tested it multiple times, and the accuracy can vary up to 10 or even 15 mmHg, which is NOT bad at all. If you consistently get lower readings, you can mentally calibrate it by adding 10 mmHg. For instance, if your watch says 127, then mentally add 10, and it's 137. This is a very conservative estimate. Sometimes I also get differences of up to 10 mmHg
@@WYSbyAdamLash as an additional review, I'll say the Samsung watch 3 measures a bit accurately when I placed my hand on my chest same way the Huawei instructed for the Watch D and YHE BP doctor monitor smart watch also instructed, instead of placing hand on the table like samsung instructed.
This video was useless you don't show how to get to the first screen you just start in the middle. Someone who is searching how to calibrate probably can't get to the screen you start at. If they could then they would not be searching your video
Well, let me make it less "useless" for you. To calibrate, it's very simple. just open the Samsung Health Monitor app, tap Blood Pressure, then tap view history. Tap on the three dots, and then tap "Recalibrate". The watch also asks you automatically to recalibrate every 28 days.
