“Calm weather does not produce good captains” very true! Under pressure in severe weather such as this many things can go wrong on top of the danger rough seas in storms can bring. Learned a lesson on this one, good job Captain! Glad you guys made out safe, you make a great team! 😎

My brother thanks. I know y'all had seen your share of storms out on the water. There's always lessons to be learned to sharpen and strengthen your abilities to endure and respond in time like these. May the Glory be to the One that is able to calms the rough waters and strong winds with one command. That's who we fear, the disciples sure did when the witnessed it. Loll. Thanks again for the comment and y'all's support. We truly appreciate it. God's blessings to you and the family always.

This is real-world stuff. I have a similar boat (Proline 251wa) A couple of thoughts 1 set an anchor alarm on the plotter 2 In addition to the upgraded anchor, add more chain 40'-60' 1/4" chain (I'm overkill 150') 3 consider a windlass A lot safer in rough water. 4 Install a fabric style overhead life jacket storage under your hardtop Keep up the good work

Hello my friend! Thank you so much for your comment and great suggestions. We always value the thought and knowledge of other fellow boater that watched our videos. Proline 251WA is a great boat and solid hull, I'm sure she's done very well for you. Great advice, yes Anchor alarm we do set, both on our GPS and phone app. The phone app is ok not always accurate and in remote areas it looses signal but we do set both. Yes, yes, more chain is never an over kill. We wish we could come up with a way the add more chain. This is in the works. Our boat we love but the style of boat that it is, it really wasn't thought-out well when the manufacturers decide to add on the anchoring department. The anchor locker is not accessible through the cabin. It has a small cylinder shaped compartment to store the rope. We upgrade to had more length and anchor. Originally it came my factory 100 ft of rope and 5,ft of chain along with the Danforth anchor. We were able to go slightly thinner double braided and 150ft of rope and a total of 10 ft of chain. That's all we could fit. It's a very poor design but we are brain storming to increase or chain length to at least 10 to 20ft more. Windlace would be awesome but again really no space to add one, and besides my wife refuses to add one, loll. For real. she said that she feels better handling the anchor and if in bad situations the windlace decided to lock up or fall we are in a worse situation. But if another boat with come to my path I would really want a windlace, heck, it would hurt to have one. Yes we did ended up getting 2 of them We are always learning new ways to make things better and safer when we are out on the water. I wish you many blessings my friend and enjoy your beautiful Proline in good health. Thank you always for your support. Maybe some day we will meet out on the water.

You might think to put the anchor next to you, less risk and dropped it from the cabin during a strong storm..I hear Mantis? makes a great anchor for this type storm due to the sandy bottom.. great stuff..I stop to write halfway when I came back you talked about it. Also some dive mask over the glasses...all stuff I plan to do later

The moment you decided to get underway in that weather, BOTH OF YOU should have put on your PFD's.

A "Rig hook" used for hooking on a oil rig in the Gulf, would be a quick way to stay put around a piling (that channel marker) Until it all passes. sorry, my renegade ways don't give a crap about rules. When it comes to my boat and passengers.

I know she was safe but a life jacket needs to be on in that situation. I get not having it on some occasions, but 99% of the time you need one.

It’s not so much the anchor. Your really need more chain. Chain is the key. How long is your boat? Put that at least 3/4 of the length of your boat in chain. Chain is the key
@2BearsOutdoors
@2BearsOutdoors 4 месяца назад
Hello, thank you so much for the comment. We truly agree with you. More chain is definitely the key. Unfortunately our boat, as much as well love our boat and she has done very well for us, the design of that boat wasn't thought of very well. Loll. She's an older SeaFox. Factory she came with 100 ft of rope - 5,ft of chain and a tiny cylinder shaped anchor locker. We did up grade to a thinner double braided rope to a more length and able to fit in our anchor locker. We were able to add 50 more feet. The chain we could only fit 10ft of in. The 10ft of chain and the Mantis anchor has really been a game changer but we are brain storming to try the at least get 10 to 20 ft more of chain to fit. Thank you so much for your knowledge and input, it's always appreciated. Many blessings my friend.
