Galesburg Railroad Days 2023: VIP Yard Tour and Railfanning 

15:46 I was on this train (had to get off here instead of Chicago.) Our train had a brake shoe issue back in Glenwood Springs, CO. It ended up getting so bad we had to drop off our lead locomotive in a siding, and continue with one locomotive. Got so late that our connecting train, the cardinal, was going to leave without us. Amtrak booked us a bus from Galesburg to Indianapolis, and we didn’t have to pay anything. Wish I remembered the lead locomotive number. Edit: I think it was 217, as I remember the conductor coming on and saying “our engine 2**, well, she’s a goner.”

Very nice video! And as for the question at 26:44, I heard the primary reason Metrolink leased a fleet of BNSF AC4400CWs was due to an issue found with the plow on all the Hyundai rotem cabcars. The issue was discovered as a result of a derailment so the plows needed adjustments done to them. While some got worked on, the other unrepaired cabcars would still be used with one of these BNSF units left in front. I rode Metrolink quite a bit during the time Metrolink leased the BNSF AC44s. -Jon
