No one can be the it girl forever but Brandy put out an album last year called B7 (its fire), has been doing award shows, and just did a song for Disney so she's around for sure. As far as vocalists go, Brandy is always talked about since she has inspired many new and old singers (Jazmine Sullivan, HER, Jo Jo, Gallant, Chris Brown and on). Search 'The Vocal Bible' and you'll see what I mean. This title was given to her by other vocalists because of her techniques and use of vocal stacking. She is very much admired and respected in the industry. Also, unlike some singers, her voice has only gotten stronger and more evolved over time. She is definitely one of the best from her generation (top five for me)...an icon.
Brandy’s influence is UNDENIABLE! Not. Only in R&B, but in many genres of music. There are rock and country artists that have cited her when talking about their influences. You can hear her techniques in every male and female artist after her. Even the ones that don’t know where they come from. There’s no way she could ever be irrelevant. Her influence is too pervasive. She’s definitely in the top tier of R&B. Anyone saying otherwise, doesn’t understand enough about what they’re listening to when they hear her, and those influenced by her, which is damn near everyone.
You should do a reaction of the full moon album if you can! That will give you brandy print in R&B. She's top 5 for me. She reigned for 10 years (94-04) and she inspired many artists such as chris brown, frank Ocean, drake, jasmine Sullivan and etc. She's underrated because people slept on her sound and projects
Thanks for doing the reaction as always. Brandy is definitely on the Rushmore of R&B. Not only her classic albums, but her influence in R&B , you can hear it in Kehlani, Jazmine Sullivan and others.
