I've used GK 210 combo for about 5 years now. Finally ready for an amp/cab set up for more flexibility. Picked up one of these and am really happy with it. The power paired with the cab options is really slick and the effects loop is great if you like using pre-amps and compression.

@B Real it was. There wasn't anything wrong with my MB 2×10. I was really wanting something that could be rack mountable and more modular depending on what speaker combinations I needed.

I recently brought this amp and its amazing! it sounded ok when played at home in a solo setting. I actually thought about returning it that is before I took it out to a gig. In a live band setting this amp is phenomenal... wow!! This amp cuts like a knife with definition, power and tone for days. My Aguilar AG700 is now a backup to this amp. My only gripe is I wish it came with a bag or at least a set of rack ears to further protect my investment.

Daniel, you should be able to buy wrack mount ears to mount it in a wrack. Check with GK and aftermarket stuff.

Try an old laptop bag for transport. They're usually padded and have extra pockets for cables. That what I use for my Markbass Little Mark Tube 800.

one of the best D klass amp, I tested at shop Aguilar, Darkglass, markbass etc, and only this one sound best without any adjustment.

Great sounding AMP! Reminds me my favorite GK MB Fusion 500 / 800, which was released in 2014-2015 Sounds like a decent analog

Indeed I have an MB Fusion 800 and Legacy 500. They're like slightly different versions of the same idea. Sometimes the Fusion 800 is overkill, but the tube pre adds a different character. That said my bandmates usually get more excited when I show up with the Legacy. It's the more "fun" of the two and just has "that" sound

I love it that they abandoned the bi-amping feature from the old 800RB. I wasted hours and hours....and HOURS trying to dial in a good bi-amp sound on my original 800RB. No matter how many ways I tweaked the Frequency crossover or experimented with multiple different cabinet combinations it always sounded best in full range only.

Have you ever owned the 700 RBii or 1001 RB? And if so how does it compare in sound to the Legacy 800?

@@TheFriendlyPsychopath I haven't owned a 700 but have played through one. My POV is that the 700 has a more 'zing' to its sound. The 800 has more of an organic tone to it IMO. That said... I run the 800 through some pedals and a GK NEO 2x12 cab with a Birdsong short scale w/flats. I played the 700 without any effects and through a 1x15 cab using a Ricky. It's not an apples-to-apples comparison. I also have a GK MB-500 amp which the 800 is WAY nicer than.

@@jeffpeters8663 Thanks for responding, after a long time I finally found my sound on the 700rb ii, since using a guitar wah pedal in my set up I noticed after awhile the amp started to fizzle out as if the battery to the bass died, I looked to get a new 700rb ii and discovered they were discontinued.. do they still at least repair the RB's? I still want my 700rb ii sound, I play heavy percussive slap and love that GK zing.

For a small form factor, I have a Bugera Veyron mosfet. That has two thousand watts peak and a GK like sound, but not as much booty as my GK.

I’ve got one of these, I’m not too impressed with it. I bought it so I wouldn’t have to drag my GK 1001RB around but I can’t seem to find a sound that I’m happy with. It’s very bland. There’s no biamp on it either. Regardless of what the video says, it sounds nothing like a Gallien-Krueger, there’s no growl, no attack. The distortion is noisy and squeals. I’ll just stick with my 1001 and use the 800 as a backup.

Ned Ryerson well the GK1001 is a different beast. Are you running with only the amp or what pedals are you using? I had the same issue with my Mesa Boogie Subway and a sansamp fixed it

Fire Emblem Is Trash LoL The only thing I run through before the amp is a MXR Bass Compressor. But even without the compressor, I haven’t been real happy with it. That’s not to say that it’s a bad unit, I think that it’s built well and it delivers plenty of power. It’s just not what I was expecting. I guess I’ve used the GK1001 for so long, nothing else will compare to it for me.

As I recall, GallienKrueger wanted to built a successor for the old 400/800/1001 RB series. They failed. Maybe you are able to dial in a nice clean tone (show me an amp where this is not possible), but I miss the GK growl that came with the RB series. The overdrive is kinda Darkglass'ish and not bad. But I miss the signature growl that came with the turning of the Boost knob. I am quite underwhelmed with the amp.

I’d go with the GK. It’s got a cut to it that the Mesa Boogie can’t match. Way too often in metal the bass is inaudible in the mix; you won’t have that problem with this amp. I play in a metal band with a P bass with stainless steel round wounds, the GK Legacy 800, and a 4x10 cabinet, and I have no problem being clearly heard in the mix with two guitar players and a drummer.

Their amps sound good, but they are the worst company to deal with, especially if you are outside of the USA. Big-time buyer beware on buying anything from this company. I bought their flagship amp head and had the worst retail experience of my life with them.

I've had the opposite experience. When I owned the GK Fusion 550, the chip responsible for storing the preset died. I contacted them directly and they sent me a replacement from US to Europe. Best part - I didn't have to pay anything, they even paid for the postage.

@@DiscoTetak Well, you certainly were a lot more lucky than me, and I'm in Canada which you would assume would be even easier than your situation. I bought the MB Fusion 800 which was defective from the box. The store had no stock, dealer refused replacement, GK wouldn't replace. They made me send it to the dealer TWICE for repairs. In the end, took me 3 months to get a refund. GK couldn't care less in my case.

Seth Nicholls my first bass amp ever was a gk 400rb and it was sick I played metal and on my first recordings ever pulled to this day one of the best tones I’ve heard a solid state amp get. If you don’t like em your probably just a noob at Eqing properly

Please work on the dynamics of your programs. The playing samples are way louder than the dialog. I'm constantly riding the gain. I want to hear what you have to say as much as the playing samples. Thank you.
