I think even with very primitive techniques you can know if at least something is inside the stone. Just put the stone in a full bucket of water, the water spilled will be the volume of the stone, then you compare the weight of the stone with the volume to get the density, if the density differes frrom the one of stone you know there is something inside.
you should use a pen laser, it lights up the inside of rock. and the small rocks have different weights, pick up white jade in one hand, green jade in the other, if you can feel weigh, you will feel the difference. I have been hunting rocks since 8 yrs old am now 65, I have studied crystallography, geology, mineralogy, an have studied at gia, through the yrs. I have picked up many ways to distinguish different ways to tell what is under the crust of a rock, what i give you here is a fraction, of weight to tell the different gems underneath. May your deity walk with you every day of your lives.
yes, they do all that, but opaqueness is not always a clue to inner quality. the lower grade stone can cover or mask some nice stone inside. they also measure its volume by water displacement and then density by weight for volume. despite the best appraisal, it's a judgement call by the experts and still buyers are left with worthless stone or a treasure
@@pauls5745 yes I know about specific gravity, I hold certificates from GIA in diamond grading, an colored stone grading, I also do carving an Lapidary, am fluent in crystallography, mineralogy, an geology, been doing most of this since I was 8 years old, am now 65
what is a fair estimate, the rough difference in cost, by percentage between overt and covert buying of jadeite ? perhaps a magnitude of 500 to 800 percent ?
i fell in love with jade the first thing I saw it. It's so powerful and youll get mesmerized by it. You'll feel vitalized when you have it. I'm not even chinese only 1/4.
Been in the gemstones business for over 28 years. Jade is just hype. I have gems that are so much more “gemmy” than jade.... take rhodochrosite, emerald, garnet, tanzanite, I can go on
Joshua Espinoza, where you born in Mex or America? If you were born in America then you are an American, plain and simple. If you were born in Mex and chose to become an American citizen, you are an American but not a naturalized citizen.
It is relatively easy to get a core sample that does minimum damage to the stone ... it's absolutely ridiculous to spend hundreds of thousands on a pure gamble !!!
I have gorgeous class A Jade bought in the 70's in Hong Kong. Apple green with no inclusions and sweet soapy fibre. Very large and would be a great piece for a jewellery maker to buy.
The reason for this is usually its historical significance in the East and its usage back then. Jade is worth much more than Gold solely because of the wealthy's love for it and giving it a symbolism for it. Hence the saying along the lines of "Gold has a price, but Jade is priceless".
乡下收古董珠宝的老杨 I am already tired of jadite forever. Yes it is beautiful and gemmy and rare. They can keep it all. Give me river worn nephrite any day. I find my own and it makes my heart sing. Jadite is prized by business men and investors, nephrite is prized by sages, and the ancients and those who appreciate its more subtle qualities.
I buy collect and sell stones, but I couldn’t bring myself to get into jades. I know people consider it beautiful and it certainly is, but many much more beautiful stones than jade even in green and far cheaper. Jade has turned into obsession based on culture not value...

Zhang Lee Yes mate, but the point is we have stopped doing it,because in the modern world we know it's morally and ethically wrong and once those animals are gone because of greed, they can never come back.
To shatter the illusion a bit, the 800000 yuan investment the guy ended up with 200000 yuan from was 126 usd down to 31 usd, not really a high stakes gamble...
In heaven things like that are worthless. We have no need for petty materialism. Learn to recognize and separate the material self from the spiritual self and you will find heaven on earth.
look for crusty rock, when clean it is lighter like sand most often. break one open, note it's shape and sediment covering. always have a small hammer and chisel when rock hunting :-)
I have green stone too but i don’t have idea when it is jade or what mineral? Just msg me i will leave my email who can help thanks rogerestudillo9@gmail.com
examples: nephrite from the Tienshan & Ching Ling mountains that border the Takalamakan deserrt. jadeite from Manchuria, Viet Nam & (Burma) Myanmar regions ~ however, many different types of jade (identified by characteristic telltale internal spots and inclusions) from various countries like Russia, New Zealand, Guatemala, North America
The only reason you call it gambling on stones is because the buyers are miserable suckers who are to tigjt to buy stones that have already been cut open to display a portion of the quality. The only winner is the seller.he gets paid every time. Sometimes the buyer gets a good stone but most dont
You are saying ridiculous but see the power of Chinese nation to conquer the world. Bet you more than half of your life is made in China. Thanks China for braking monopoly of the luxurious business and everyone in everywhere try everything
