Game Apologist - Sonic 3 

You skipped over something that I personally REALLY appreciated in this game: The sprite work. Sonic has 360 rotations. Tails will doggy paddle when under water. Each character has SOOO many different animations, and it really adds to the game.

That Intro...that intro scared me. I was about ready to press the dislike button if you even remotely attempted to say Sonic 3 and Knuckles was bad.

I think egoraptor talking about megaman and how the game teaches you is exactly what Sonic did, up until the barrel. EVERYTHING IVE BEEN TAUGHT IS NOT WORKING!

Sonic 3 and Knuckles is one of those instances where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. S3&K is BY FAR the greatest Sonic game ever made!

Sonic 3 has always been my favorite Sonic game for a reason. It’s the perfect blend of gameplay, mechanics, and storytelling. Something people don’t talk about enough is how big this game made an impact on the franchise’s future, especially the story. Without Sonic 3, there would be no Knuckles, no Angel Island, no Master Emerald, not even Tails’ freakin’ flying ability (well, at least it being playable). The game is never boring, the levels fun, blue spheres are a treat, and everything is just… perfect. (Well, except for that STUPID BARREL)

I always used to think Sonic 3 was just…fine. But I’m starting to think that this might be one of my favourite Sonic games ever!

That barrel had me stuck for actual years. I figured out the level select cheat before I figured out that stupid barrel.

The slooooow barrel transition was beautiful, and totally accurate to how I felt about it.

I love the deapth of view effect of the top of the water in Hy-drocity level. So many layers of parallax scrolling.
