Fun fact: Toby Fox has said that this song was the hardest song of the game to compose. That's not surprising, considering it's arguably the most important song in the game.

Love how Hopes and Dreams felt like an ending to a high tech movie with millions of dollars put behind it Also, please do Risk of Rain sometime

I just wanted to add that the boss theme of Flowey in the neutral route also has the same leitmotifs and melody, except highly distorted.

What I like the most about this song in game is how the beat drop is kinda sycronized with the rainbow color effects starting. You get a feeling like "wooahh"

Hopes and Dreams is literally the boss fight right before the good end! Literally the last hurdle to the perfect ending. As such it recalls all the connections and experiences the player made along the way!

At 8:00 is my favorite part in the song because it is floweys theme which heavily ties in with this specific theme in a way you need to play the game to understand

i just binge watched a bunch of these undertale videos youve done and i love how every time you have a big reaction to something in the music you go into detail about what exactly it was in the music that sounded cool - it makes watching these videos different from generic reaction videos because i get to learn so much about the musical construction that goes into creating the emotional effect of these songs

The Asgore connection makes so much sense! This song is reminiscent of a time when humans and monsters got along whereas Asgore is the pinnacle of the brokenness between humans and monsters

This song always makes me insanely emotional. It’s hard for me not to hear this song without tearing up

I love this theme. It's a culmination of everything you've managed to do to get there, the power of love and friendship to push you forward through all of the hardship. I recommend anything from Chicory: A Colorful Tale. Lena Raine did the OST and she made gold.

This song has so many layers I don't think a single cover of it managed to get it right. A true masterpiece.

The moment where the key changed was beautiful! Sometimes random key changes in songs annoy the crap out of me (though I have no idea why, since I'm not a musician), but other times it's done perfectly.

Loved this video! Two songs that are very significant to the character of Asriel (who you fight in this battle) are Your best nightmare and Finale

Great video as always! This piece fills me with something warm and positive vibes, but at the same time, I also feel a touch of sadness. I feel sunrise and sunset at the same time. It feels like a sad feeling at the end of an amazing journey. Thank you, Davi. I really enjoyed this :)

idk if you've heard it already, but hopes and dreams has a sequel track called "SAVE The WORLD-" it's broken apart by a cutscene in-game, which I won't spoil if you haven't played the true pacifist ending

The ultimate song for the ultimate battle with the timeline on the line

i'm a huge undertale fan and an even bigger one when it comes to the music. watching you go through the music makes me smile. Keep it up :3

‼️Spoilers‼️ I just really like his blind reactions because it gives new insight. As an example, I take the "sophistication" and "classical feel" in the contrary movement as a direct reference to Asriel being a prince, and the "Asgore/Toriel but happy" parts as Asriel being a teeny tiny little kid monster goat who just wants to be playful and happy and innocent underneath all the Flowey and very battle-y """mask""" he puts on during the entire game... Also maybe the song is telling us he's glad we're coming for him in the "modulation" part despite him still being hostile atm 🥺, haven't finished the video but I'm loving it so far because it's highlighting things I wouldn't have noticed otherwise, when I've paid a lot of attention to every detail I could catch in this song before. I noticed the finale of the song Your Best Nightmare, also known as Omega Flowey's theme uses a simular melody and motifes. And I have noticed any emotional part of undertale uses this melody.

Your best friend, your best nightmare, finale, his theme, hopes and dreams, burn in despair, and save the world are all Asriel Dreemurr’s themes. (Asriel is flowey with the power of 7 human souls.) (Memory also counts as Asriel’s theme in some ways. It’s a music box version of his theme)

My favourite piece of video game music of all time. Sends shivers down my spine every time.

I'm actually kinda late i know. But man, your gesticulating reminds me of a happy child listening to a cool song over and over. I think that's what toby fox aimed for when composing this masterpiece (Asriel is indeed Asgore and Toriel's child, and so are we while fighting him, going back to our hopes and dreams)

It uses so many themes because he represents every monsters hopes, and dreams.

If you ever listen to "Your best nightmare," you need to also listen to "finale" because of how those songs were meant to flow into each other and tell a single story.

Hopes and Dreams is amazing. So emotional and actually so full of hopes and dreams. I always start crying when I hear it, I just can't help myself.

You should check the soundtrack for the Project Moon Saga (Lobotomy Corporation, Library of Ruina, Limbus Company). Specially all three warnings, "Children of the city", "Roland", Limbus battle Theme 1 and 2.

One of the best themes in the whole game and i know u have played the neutral route but trust me the other ones are really worth playing and i really suggest you do u wont regret it

I never understood why Snowdin played in Hopes and Dreams either, but after the release of Deltarune and the Undertale Alarm Clock app, it’s been heavily implied that Asriel (the boss of this theme) was close friends with the daughters of the mayor of Snowdin.

I feel like the genocide run should have a track that is like a distorted version of hopes and dreams called determination and dust

Hopes and Dreams comes along with Save the World. It's like a continuation of the first track

This is the true pacifist route, the one where you spare all the monsters and do some other things. The main idea by the fight is that there is a flower (Flowey) and they take all of the human souls and yours, and the main point that is supposed to be gained from the battle is that Flowey is Asriel. It's really a good ending the true pacifist route, even if I am more of a genocide person. Btw, if you didn't find out, Toriel and Asgore had two children.

How does he do this. Consistently guesses what each boss symbolises to the teeth

Hopes and Dreams is my favorite song in all of Undertale. It plays in the finale battle in the Pacifist playthrough.

Honestly I would love to see him react to the glitchtale versions of certain songs such as embodiment of a true hero or Papyrus’ strife

Hopes & Dreams is the song for the True Pacifist route's ending. I won't spoil more than that, but it's worth giving it a second playthrough just for that.

You should Listen to The World Revolving from another game from Toby Fox, deltarune. For me, it is a masterpiece

There is three routes you can take pacifist,neutral,and genocide Hope's and dreams is in the pacifist route and battle against a true hero in genocide.

Pacifist route is worth it for so many reasons... This theme especially.

I understand that you feel so confused with the similarities with other undertale themes. You should watch a video called "All the undertale songs are connected", you will be surprised when you hear how many of the songs in the game have a similar melody to each other. :D

I know I'm late to comment but you can hear Flowey's tune in there at some points in the song.

Fun fact, undertale has like 7 songs total and te rest are just remixes of eachother

This is a fun boss fight

if we go with your theory of, "This is a song that represents Hopes and Dreams of all monsters", then the Snowdin melody makes sense, because it shows that it represents Hopes and Dreams of ALL monsters. And if we go EVEN FURTHER with it, then i think that we can see resemblances to other soundtracks from key locations (like hot land, core waterfall, etc.).

I recommend listening to dummy! It is one of the most unique songs in the ost and is one of my personal favourites.

Don't worry, you are right, this song IS related to Asgore. The other themes, like Snowdin, Toriel's house, the beggining of the game, etc, all make sense to be in this song, and I'm going to stop right there, just in case you haven't seen when this song plays yet.

Hopes and Dreams is one of those songs that wells me up everytime i hear it, and makes me cry when i hear it in game I love Undertale, I wish I could play it for the first time again

The blending of asgore's theme and the toriel's theme for their [spoilers] is such a cool idea I never thought of. This ending is a reward. And your first time hearing this song in game is a huge moment for everyone, not just the main character.

Correct me if I’m mistaken, but the happy melody mentioned at 8:00 is Your Best Friend, which is Flowey’s theme. So even though the tone is overtly positive it has that underlying sense of tension and apprehension. Which is pretty fitting imo.

The hopes of the king, the dreams of the queen, and the sorrow of the child mixed into the song that brings the entire story together in the climax of an epic story. This song was, and still is one of my all time favorites in gaming.

7:33 I thought Davi is about to mention Flowey's theme but then he amazes me by mentioning how Asgore's theme can fit in HOPES AND DREAMS and Asgore is indeed deeply related with this theme. Now I really want a remix that includes both Asgore and Toriel's theme into HOPES AND DREAM :(

The fact you can connect Asgore, Toriel and Asriel all to each other just by music without playing the game shows just how powerful Toby Fox's composing truly is.

Leitmotif you missed, flowey's theme starts playing in the background at about 1:19 in the song and becomes the melody at 1:30

You always shock me with how much you can infer about the circumstance by the song itself. Shows both your awareness with these musical elements and Toby Fox's care into making his soundtrack as meaningful as possible. Thanks for teaching me more about this game 7 years later!

Without going into spoiler territory, your describing this tune as a "reward" is a very great description. I remember when I first heard it, it was the same "day" the game launched. I'd been pretty much playing it nonstop and it was 1 in the morning. I felt like I was experiencing something sacred, something well-earned. I absolutely idolize Toby Fox's composition genius, and boy howdy would I love to possess even a tenth of it.

Toby Fox is a goat'd composer with a number of phenomenal songs under his belt, but for me this one will always be top ten for sure. There are so many emotions conveyed in Hopes and Dreams, and even without the context of the game its an absolute bop

Fun fact: toby made asriel move since in a interview he said if he made asriel stand still he looked like a doofus

You need to get the Pacifist ending to hear this song and fight the boss. The story comes to head and the payoff is incredible. Such a deeply moving game and the music sets the scene perfectly. I love Toby Fox's work so much

Very bold of you to listen to this song without completing the other routes of the game. This is one of the most triumphant and amazing songs in the game, and has a partner song ("SAVE the World")

This has always been my favorite boss theme from this game, just magnificent and full of energy.

Davi discovered the Dreemurr leitmotif. What got my about this song, and still does, is how playful it is. After all of it, after all he did, after all that was done to him, he just wanted to play with his friend, and no intentions could veil that.

7:33 That’s so cool!! I love how this motif fits in the theme song of the whole family tree. It’s in Toriel’s theme, Asgore’s and it fits perfectly with Asriel’s!!
