Go back and watch the scene at the wedding where Lady Olenna offers her condolences to Sansa for the deaths of her brother and mother and you'll notice something.
The moment when Lady Olenna takes the poison from Sansa's necklace is so well done. And at the same time she is saying (about Rob) "Killing a man at a wedding, horrid, what kind of monster would do such a thing". Epic.
41:08 Another fantastic catch by Pudgey! Jon's relationship with Ygritte is not just about falling in love. It's about confronting his biases about the Wildlings and questioning everything that he has been taught about them. He gets to understand them on a deeper level and see what they are really about. He learns to empathize with them, even if he is not on their side. All this is super important to his arc IMO.
Giving a Valyrian steel sword to Brienne is even more generous than you may think - In the books we are told that before reforging Ned's sword, Tywin had been trying to purchase a Valyrian steel sword for house Lannister for a very long time, however absolutely none of the minor houses would accept an offer no matter how much Tywin was willing to pay as their ancestral Valyrian steel swords were beyond monetary value for them due to their rarity, power and history, hence why there is essentially no market for them.
Well, House Lannister have a Valyrian steel sword of their own. Of course, I use the word “have” quite loosely, as in, it likely still exists in a form recognizable as Brightroar, but best of luck convincing anyone to launch another expedition to recover it, all things considered.
"please be poison, please be poison"... I love how Game of Thrones turns us all into Savages. Before watching the show "Oh, please don't hurt anyone", after starting watching the show, "DESTROY HIM, FINISH HIM, LET HIM SUFFEEEEEEEEEER" lol
Lock was sent to find bran&rickon by boltons, the scene where theon tells them he didn't kill them just 2 farm boys, lock is there and is instructed to find them. He asks where they could be and theon responds "Jon snow at castle black he's there brother" that's why lock went there and followed jon hoping to find bran&rickon. Names of direwolfs Sansas was named "lady" Robs was "grey wind" Brans is "summer" Rickons is "shaggydog" Jon's is "ghost" Aryas is "nymeria"(not dead) Would you like some fan fact about the books that the show ignores completely or do Intend to read the books?
Only Lady and Grey wind are dead at this point. In S1, the show touched on Rickon's "wolf dreams" when he too saw Ned in in the crypts. Sansa's Lady died very young, so she never really bonded with her wolf but when Lady died, Bran woke from his coma, Arya had banished Nymeria but never lost touch with her.
Just the other day on RU-vid I saw theory the other day that you're the children the way they named their dire wolves kind of gave away their fate and I don't think I believe that
@@noneofyourbeeswax01the stark colors are grey and white. One could argue that it indicates he is a stark that will have a strong but temporary/ disappearing story arc. Might be a bit of a stretch but it's a thought.
The Olenna and Margaery talk is one of my favs. There's a lot of the "son becoming the father" in GoT, but it sometimes skips a generation and could be a different gender!
Olenna Tyrell is definitely on my love list for best characters even after the finale. She delivered some of the best lines of the show. Her best line is yet to come. I even bought an Olenna shirt years ago with her famous 3 words. Pudgy needs for sure, she rocks GoT’s merch. As does Spartan.
So, want to know something interesting from the previous episode that was hidden in plain sight? Go back and watch the scene at Joffrey's wedding feast when Olenna Tyrell is talking to Sansa Stark. Pause the screen and count the "jewels" in her necklace. Then after OIenna adjusts the necklace, pause again and count the "jewels" again. :)
@@mr.noride7226 what I’m wondering still is did they set Sansa up or also told baelish to rescue her I feel like Baelish did that for his own agenda and Olena just purely used Sansa as a pond in her play knowing Sansa will probably be blamed for it and executed… but then again maybe she knew baelish would rescue Sansa remember her conversation with Varys about Sansa being the key to the north!
Olenna strikes me as nice in the sense that she's not needlessly cruel. But in her own words, she does what needs to be done. If you're not in her way, and she doesn't need to harm you, then you're probably safe. If harming you gets her an advantage though, then so be it.
I agree, unlike Tywin Lannister, there is no cruelty in her actions. Tywin on the other hand uses cruelty, at least so far as it is practical to strike fear into those who would act against the Lannisters. Cersei is just cruel for cruelty's sake. The word I would use for Olenna is ruthless. She doesn't hurt if she doesn't have to, but she also doesn't take qualms if she does.
@@andyrobin7196 Yep, it's important to remember the "friendliness" Sansa receives from the Tyrells is just because she's a chess piece that can't hurt them.
Locke is in Castle Black because of the meeting that took place between Ramsay, Roose, Reek and Locke in previous episode. Reek said that younger male Stark siblings were actually alive and could have taken to Castle Black for shelter because Jon is there. Locke is there to eliminate any male Stark line so they can be the ruling family of the North. The theme of this season is about characters not being in the know unlike the audience. We know where Bran or Sansa is but Theon and Brienne doesnt know. So they make all these assumptions. This was one of GRRM's writing objectives in the series.
It's maddening how people forget previous scenes like that and think Locke's a good guy never mind him taking Jamie's hand and letting his men rape Brienne.
@@wilson0213 I just assumed he went to Castle Black for cutting Jamie’s hand and when he saw Bran he saw an opportunity to come back. But it doesn’t really makes sense haha
This is from books (not spoiler) Jaime/Brienne “Ser Jaime?” Even in soiled pink satin and torn lace, Brienne looked more like a man in a gown than a proper woman. “I am grateful, but … you were well away. Why come back?” A dozen quips came to mind, each crueler than the one before, but Jaime only shrugged. “I dreamed of you,” he said.
... I prefer to think of it in the romantic way!! Sure it could've just been cuz Brienne reminds him of the warrior that he could have been or could become again, honorable and noble. But I ship em.
Is that referring to the dream when he falls asleep on the stump and he thinks he’s under Casterly Rock and he sees the kings guards from Aerys reign? I love that dream! I’ve seen a lot of you tubers try and decipher that dream. Many believe he was on a weirwood stump and had an almost prophetic dream.
At the wedding Olenna walks up to Sansa, brushes her hair and neck sympathetically while consoling her for her losses. Her last words to her are "War is war, but killing a man at a wedding? What sort of a monster would do such a thing." That is when she takes out the poison vial. In the book it's never fully clear who killed Joffrey. But in terms of the show this episode makes it clear Margaery was not involved. Margaery would not have given up the chance to become Queen, even if it meant marrying Joffrey. But Olenna had the long game in mind. Instead of ruling with Joffrey or killing him after consummation which would've pointed all the fingers at the new Queen, she decided to hedge her bet on the younger boy. Someone much easier to manipulate.
Tommen’s actor actually appeared earlier in the show as one of the Lannister boys that were killed by the Karstarks. They brought the actor back when they decided to recast Tommen with an older actor since he was gonna get a bigger role.
He’s used to Ser being an automatic title for a knight which, in his experience, have always been men. It’s the way Star Trek started calling all officers Sir, male or female, instead of differentiating by sex once women started moving up in the command ranks.
I actually really like the "inconsistencies" woth jaime, because theyre not. Hes a complex and imperfect character you can never fully get behind or fully hate
I love how Pudgey always gets emotional when watching scenes where honor, or just good act we see (especially when its coming from someone who in the show we watch had hard path, redemption story), like how Jamie is giving sword and armor to Brienne, their dialog, great reaction.
“to make a new friendship ‘grow strong’” -little finger i’m just realizing that was a hint that the tyrells were his new friends bc of their house words “growing strong”. maybe my 6th time watching this series and i’m still picking up new things haha
Jaime giving the sword, armor to Brienne is one of the moments where i felt emotional it was one of the most beautifully written and acted scenes in GOT
@@rafetizer Her gold armour was really beautiful with her pale blue surcoat. The darker armour is more practical for tracking Sansa across Westeros. It looks like it has a slightly blue tinge. Jaime knew what would look good on Brienne.
Olenna didn't pretend to loose to Tywin. She lost to Tywin. That talk was mainly about Loras, as both sides were definitely in the agreement regarding Joffrey and Margery. Olenna tried to safe Loras from marriage but to no avail. But winning or loosing that fight had no impact to Joffries marriage, and therefore no impact on Olenna's plans to poison him.
Also that's not the way you say Joffrey's you basically pluralized his name like there are multiple people named Joffrey when you were actually implying ownership
There is very little of Tyrion's "dark side" on display in the show which is a pity as everyone LOVES Tyrion from day 1. The show does give a little tidbit when Tyrion says to Bron, "You are good at murdering people." (Tyrion had Bron murder a bard, but I can't spoil, although his song will show up eventually) Most of the main characters as written in the books are grey, rather than black and white.
So, if you go back and look at the wedding where Olena was talking to Sansa and moved her necklace around , if you follow that scene until tyrion gives Geoffrey his last wine, you'll understand how it was done. .. when Olena told margery in this ep. She did the same with Margery necklace Like a clue..
Locke is loyal to the Bolton’s and they’ve just found out from Theon that Bran and Rickon are still alive. They logically believe that bran and rickon will head to castle black and Jon snow! Hence Locke has been sent there to capture them
I think any 16 year old boy would be pretty damn excited to have Natalie Dormer visit them at night and talk about "being yours, forever". Well, at least i would when I was 16, or now at 38. Also, I know Tommen isn't supposed to be 16 here, but the actor was at that time. And they've aged up Tommen from being 8 or 9 on the book to being 13-14 here.
@@0okamino I've had a "celebrity crush" on her since seeing her performance as Anne Boleyn in The Tudors. And not only is she stunning, she's a fantastic actress. I brought up The Tudors because she is really good as Anne Boleyn, especially season 2 of that show which covers Anne's apex and downfall. I've seen her in several other shows & movies but I still think that season of Tudors is her best work.
Most reactors I’ve seen make the same error. Noah Taylor just makes Locke such a chill psycho that he blends in as another guy with a beard I guess…despite you know…cutting off Jaime’s hand or the bear pit or high fiving Ramsay in 4x02 or Roose ordering him to find Bran at Castle Black.
Rickon's direwolf, Shaggydog, is also potentially alive - he left with Rickon and Osha. So Ghost (Jon's wolf) and Summer (Bran's wolf) are alive, Shaggydog and Nymeria (Arya's wolf) are potentially alive, Lady (Sansa''s wolf) and Grey Wind (Robb's wolf) are dead.
Do Pudgey and Spartan remember that Locke was sent to the Wall by Roose and Ramsay to find Bran and Rickon? They seem to not remember that at all, and considering how much they both hate Ramsay and Roose I'm surprised Spartan is saying he trusts Locke.
"The fookin' Legend of Gin Alley" has become such a meme quote. But seeing the actor Burn Gorman again here makes me hope that Spartan and Pudgey react to _The Expanse_ at some point. It's such an amazing show and I think they would like it.
Brienne, already a force to be reckoned with is now equipped with Valerian steel and a set of armor which Lannister gold could afford. She has a quest to continue. Her arc just keeps getting better. I often wonder how many viewers are old enough to remember the actress whom played Olenna (Diana Rigg) from The Avengers tv series as Emma Peel. Teen boy dream stuff.
Dany: I want to say something clever. Pudgey: go on, my Dany, my most beloved queen. No one can question her. Cersei: I'd like to say something, too. Pudgey: shut up, Cersei. But yea, most of us have been in a similar position. Hating the ones who already got power and rooting for the ones, who are fighting for it.
A while ago I started to learn High Valyrian through Duolingo and when I now rewatch an episode where there’s talk in High Valyrian I sometimes recognize words like „zaldrizes“ (dragons), pretty cool. 😎
I loved your reaction to the last episode. You guys were totally right all along, it was The Tyrells, Little finger and Sir Dontos. They all played different rolls but all were somehow involved. Your theories paid off in this episode.😉😂
I loved this episode. One of my favourites! From Daenerys taking Mereen to Jaime and Brienne's moment. I love that she gave the sword the name Oathkeeper. Sine Brienne is such an honourable woman who always kept her vows and Jaime who vowed to return Cat's daughters to her😭😭
I think Sansa being involved was more Petyr's plan, now she has this fear that she can't go off on her own because she's wanted for Kingslaying. He can keep his little bird in a cage. Convenient for Olenna as well, so it's not like her hands are clean either.
Spartan is no longer allowed to brag about anything he gets right for at least a season after saying he trusts Locke lol. Especially when we have literally been told why he's there.
Yeah I gotta say this one goes to Spartan! You have predicted all who conspired to poison Joffrey. I think you start to see that Jon is our new Stark to root for, honed by the north he's becoming a solid warrior and leader. Great reaction, cheers
Nice reaction. Just wish the Jamie Breanne scene was included in the edit where she tells Jame Oathkeeper and we see Jamie’s reaction. That hit him right in the feels but we didn’t see it here. I remember seeing that live and kind of got me teary eyed. Jamie is longing for a sense of honor and Breanne gave him a little back/respect.
I do not write comments very often but you guys are incredible reacting to my favorite show ever! You always pay attention and your reactions to important scenes and key dialogue is always spot on! I really enjoy your post episode discussion and the dynamics between you two! I also started to watch The Boys just because you react it to it so now I will watch one episode and then watch your reaction!
For the most part. They didn't quite pay attention that Bolton sent Locke to take out Bran, as he is the heir to Winterfell. As Spartan said about Locke, "I like him," right after Pudgey said, "I don't trust him." You didn't pay attention that they weren't paying attention as to what was Locke's intention there.
How did you guys not know at this time why Locke was at Castle Black? Ramsey (the Boltons) sent him to kill all the stark boys, Bran, Rickon & Jon. And Lord Alistar wanted Jon killed when he went out to avenge Lord Commanders death…just fyi as you seemed to have missed it though I also know this is a year later haha
For reference, the actress who plays Margaery is 32 here, and the actor who plays Tommen is 16. In the books, Margaery is 16 and Tommen is 8. Fun fact, the actor who plays Tommen also played one of the Lannister boys captured by Robb and murdered by his vassal.
Yep you see him in his eyes, he is wondering what the transformation happening inside of him is. He is clearly sad that she's going away. Great acting by Nik and Gwen.
It’s such a brilliantly acted moment by Nikolaj. You can see Jaime cares for her, that it confuses him. You can see him perhaps wondering if he could’ve had a different path to the life he’s lived to this point.
All his life he'd loved just one woman, who he's starting to see the imperfections under the skin. Or rather, he's starting to acknowledge them. Meanwhile for as "unattractive" as Brienne is, everything underneath is much more endearing. Seriously who the heck gives a guy crap for being held prisoner and losing a hand?!
I don't think this is a spoiler but something you guys missed in previous episodes (moderator can remove the comment if it's spoiler) - Locke was given an order by the Boltons to join the nights watch and be on a mission.

Reacting on the hot take from Spartan, I'm not sure if Olenna purposefully manipulated and used Sansa in her plot, I still feel that Littlefinger had more to do with that. However, Olenna did know about Sansa and the necklace. If you rewatch the scene where she talks to Sansa at the feast, you can see her hand moving towards the necklace and grabbing one of the crystals from it.
The white walkers are more intelligent and stronger than the others. The "zombie soldiers" they have are called Wights and are not sentient and are completely controlled by the white walkers.
What I liked is that Jon fell in love with ygritte in real life and got married to her after the show. They have a child now and seem to be very happy. He says that is the best part of doing GOT because he met her.
How big is Ghost... In the Books, Rob Starts Dire Wolf was the Size of a Pony, and in one of the Battles it took down several Knights (I'm not certain, but I do believe it was 8).
I think Olenna knew that Joffrey needed to die once they talked to Sansa about how cruel he was. Besides the high odds that he would abuse Margaery, a cruel king is a dangerous horse to back. And when the king has a successor who is much kinder…
Hey, I don't know if any fans have mentioned it yet, but if you're enjoying Grey Worm, you might be interested to know that the actor playing him (Jacob Anderson) is a music artist that goes by the name "Raleigh Ritchie", and he's got some great songs and music videos out!! In fact, a few of GOT actors are musicians! Bronn (Jerome Flynn) is in a duo called "Robson & Jerome", and Hodor (Kristian Nairn) is a DJ!! Also Osha (Natalia Tena) is the singer in a band called "Molotov Jukebox"! *EVERYBODY'S MUSIC IS SO GOOD GO LISTEN!*
Jerome Flynn becoming this badass actor is so surreal to me, growing up in the uk in the 90s with him and Robson Green topping the charts with cheesy hits. I loved Robson and Jerome.
Remember what Viserys said in the finale of the first episode of HOTD when he told Rhaenyra that she would be the heir? Aegon the Conqueror saw a threat from the north. And there must be a Targaryen on the Iron Throne to unite the Realm. White Walkers are cold and ice. And the Targaryens and their dragons are fire. A Song of Ice and Fire... Unfortunately, this dynasty was overthrown. At least Joffrey is not king now)
Tommen's actor was 16 here while Margeary's actress was 33 and the whole thing was super weird for both of them. I think Natalie Dormer had to argue against certain stuff put in the screen.
Inicially there was a sex scene envolve. But Natalie argue about that. And the scene was change to just a kiss in the lips. Natalie again argue about that. They change the scene with what we got today!
Changing it from a sex scene to just a kiss on the forehead definitely affects how we perceive the character of Margaery, she's definitely perceived on the show as being more benevolent and less power-hungry when you don't show her having sex with an underage child
@@cassandramcbride7007 yeah props to her for that but very disgusting of D&D to keep insist on having such an explicit scene between a grown adult and a minor. They've been pretty creepy on that aspect tbh they made two of their child stars do nude sex scenes as soon as they turned 18 so no surprises there.
41:42 One thing I've often pondered on, and wish to ask the fandom is: *_Who is the mastermind behind Joffrey's murder, is it Littlefinger or Olenna_*_ Or are they both equally responsible?_ Some people say it's Olenna, because she took the poison from Sansa's necklace. However, I am leaning toward Littlefinger being the mastermind. I wouldn't be surprised if he covertly gave the idea to Olenna. Remember that when the Lannister were losing and looking for allies, it was Littlefinger's idea to persuade the Tyrells to join Joffrey's cause after Renly died. He asked Tyrion to be sent as a envoy to Renly's camp precisely for that reason. Also, in the books, it is implied that Littlefinger gave Joffrey the idea to use dwarf actors for the show, because he knew it would provoke Tyrion, and would help to set him up as the patsy. And I have zero doubt that Olenna is more than happy Tyrion take the fall. However nice you think the Tyrells are, they don't really care about Sansa. Not on a deep level. She was only a means to an end. In the show, it's not clear to me that Sansa realizes that the Tyrells were using her. But in the books, she definitely gets that cold shower, because they all stop talking to her after her wedding to Tyrion is announced.
If you guys ever get around to having some down time, I highly recommend reading the books. The audiobooks are great as well. You could read all of the books now and nothing would spoil the end of the show. There are major differences and key book characters are left out of the show all together. After you guys finish the series, you should do a live stream about the series. Fans of GoT are definitely some of the most outspoken and passionate in the world and I love it.
Cuz he's not in combat most of the time and Lannisters can be a vain lot even among the most vain of highborn. A fist or a hook would be more practical for everyday life then a fight if truly needed.
In what sense do you mean? Every time he wished to use that blade, he would have to extend his arm. Good way to lose his arm alongside his hand in combat.
28:40 Pudgey is so smart! Even though she can't put her finger on it, she's got great intuition. Spartan, you just observed that Locke is loyal to the Boltons, why in the world would you trust him?
You make it sound like he's being punished when that's not the case, he was sent there to kill bran and rickon Stark after learning they would probably be at Castle black from Theon
Lady Olenna Tyrell: Tell me child, tell us about this Joffrey boy. We've heard troubling tales. Sansa: He's a monster! Season 3 Episode 2 And with that utterance, Sansa effectively signed Joffrey's death warrant.
No matter the quarrels, strategies and betrayals, ups and downs in Westeros, I believe they all should worry about that far north SubZero (blue eyed spikey headed guy from the end) 👣.
Margaery was supposed to kiss Tommen on the lips in the first script, but Nathalie Dormer did not feel comfortable with that since Tommen's actor was under age at the time. So they changed it to a forehead kiss.
So funny how I can pick up that one of the slaves is a French actor b/c he pronounces his words (Meereenese, or High Valyrian, I can't remember,) with a French accent. The one who says, "we have no training. No weapons." That guy.
I actually quite liked the guy that cut of Jamie’s hand from the start, you can tell he’s abit of a savage and he does actually look out for people in a way, he was well respected by his troops even tho they were messing around with Jamie and Brianne, I think you’ll like him
I love the dynamic between you two. Despite everything that’s happened in the show so far, Pudgey still carry’s on with a bit of naiveness and hope that the good will prevail in the end, while Spartan is a more of a he’ll believe it when he sees it type of view at this point and I like seeing the reactions from both perspectives.
When Spartan tells he trusts Locke it was pure facepalm. After all he did with Jamie and Brienne and despite his hidden agenda to kill the last Starks? C‘mon, mate… 😂
