Drogon is that teenage boy who's all about freedom and fun and wild life. He came home to ask mum for some cash for his next trip. But mum became all emotional seeing him and he don't have time for all that so he left again. He dropped outa highschool and finding his own path. Meanwhile his bros are under strict homeschooling rebelling against their mum for not letting them go out to play n hangout with their big bro.

Dragons aren't the pets of kings and queens, they are the soulmates of conquerors. Kings and queens can be weak and still rule, but a dragon would never respect them. But you can only conquer if you're ruthless. And dragons are ruthless by nature. She only reigned in Drogon when she started showing signs of her Targaryen blood.

I'm not sure why you characterize Kevan Lannister as a "warmonger" because he refused to accept Cersei's authority on the small council. In fact, he rightly points out that she is only the Queen Mother, yet there she is at the head of the table, stacking the council with sycophants. Also I would think that if he were a true warmonger he'd have happily accepted when offered the Master of War title -- yet instead he walked away. IMO he's the only character of standing not looking out for his own self-interests.

Stannis was willing to sacrifice 1000 people at blackwater...he was also willing to sacrifice himself...remember Rob Stark did the exact same thing in season 1 only that he wasn't even at the battle...after the defeat at Black water his men were literally dragging him from the field...a king who leads from the front because he knows his duty...the showrunners ruined stannis but if you are attentive enough you'll see that he is not just a bad guy wanting to rule world...he has a duty to the realm,the one true king🔥

I also hated that the show never challenged the insistence that Stannis' men would sack the city and rape the women. In the books Stannis is famous for the discipline he instills in his forces. His armies have never sacked and raped en masse and any soldiers of his that did were executed. But dumb and dumber didn't like him so they made sure to emphasize his worst traits.

"A man is no one." Jaqen H'ghar is referring to rising above the self illusion of the ego. Similar to nirvana of the Buddhist. A state in which there is neither suffering, desire, nor sense of self. It is apparent in his speech when he refers to himself in the third person.

Danerys found herself in a no win situation. If she punishes him, it will piss off the common people (most of whom were once slaves), if she doesn't punish him, she is sending the message that the law doesn't apply to people in her inner circle. There had to be a punishment... her huge error was doing it publicly. If it had been done quietly in private, word might have spread via word of mouth, but it wouldn't have been so widespread with the vivid image of the execution seen by all. She's trying to learn to be a leader, but is still early on that learning curve, and will make mistakes. That was one... and a big one.

She made no mistake here. Rulers and governments should never execute people privately or away from the public eye, if it has to be done it should be public as a sign of transparency, that's exactly why executions are and always have been public. In this case the public execution was also necessary so that Daenerys could make an example out of him to make sure the laws of the city would be obeyed by all, that way no perpetrator, be it former slave or former slaver, would be able to claim ignorance.
@bill.godwin-austen
@bill.godwin-austen 2 года назад
@@distantraveller9876 Good point on the transparency factor. But I think that could have been addressed by having witnesses representing all parties (as is generally done for contemporary executions). Doing it in full public view when emotions are running so hot seems to be a recipe for disaster.

The Inn: 1: very important Sansa ISN't under the grasp of Baelish, she's getting info out of him all through their travels, 2: If you watch and listen to Sansa and Brienne speak you should see a slight nod and eye movement towards the knights behind Brienne... Brienne for all her honor, isn't the brightest bulb in the story; Sansa was saving her ass., telling her to get out of Dodge. ( phrase sometime used in the US as a warning to leave a dangerous place.) Sansa's story is told through symbolism not just words, her mannerisms, what she wears are telling you who she is. When this episode came out I mentioned what Sansa was doing and got cat called except for a few; 3 days later: On EW or Vanity Fair......... [ the second Game of Thrones episode of season 5]: Gwendoline Christie sits in a cafe in King’s Cross station in London, drinking tea and revealing her perspective on Brienne’s surprise encounter with Sansa Stark in Sunday’s Game of Thrones episode “The House of Black and White.” The actress has a tough time pulling off looking inconspicuous, but she’s giving it try, wearing a ballcap and touristy sweatshirt while talking about tonight’s scene in a hushed whisper so nobody else can overhear any Thrones secrets. “Brienne kneels before Sansa in an exact mimic of the oath she made to Catelyn Stark,” Christie says. “And Sansa says, ‘No.’ But in the script, it says there’s the tiniest look in Sansa’s eyes. The script says the look is telling Brienne: ‘Get the f-k out of Dodge.'” Need to pay attention to more than words with some characters, Sansa definitely.

You think Sansa's in Baelish's pocket ? She may being played at points, but in his pocket NOooo. Sansa is learning to play and she's not going to gain 25 or more years of experience overnight . Remember the scene at the Eyrie; LF ask " What do we do to the one(s) who hurt the ones we love "? and it resulted in a small smile from Sansa ? And what LF said on the boat "Everyone wants something, . And when you know what a man wants you know who he is, and how to move him." and Sansa and LF talking in her room as she is sewing...LF: " You think you know me" ..Sansa : I know what you want ( with slightly parted lips). LF knows Sansa wants home and even revenge, Sansa knows LF needs her, but she's just learning and she doesn't know Brienne all that well at the moment, so she keeps to the devil she knows.

Fun fact, at the time when this season started HBO had a interactive map of the opening credit, if you clicked along the wall you see direwolves, or clans, etc.when Arya drifts under the Titan of Braavos you see from Arya's vantage point, etc. Also while on the ship ( in books )you would see people talking to Arya, telling their names etc. There's a reason for that. Hence the captain being friendly to her.

Pycelle is still the grand maester of Red Keep. Maesters don't serve a particular family. They serve the realm. Qyburn is master of whisperers not maester. Princess Shireen don't have greyscale anymore. Those are the scars from greyscale when she had it as an infant. Also in the books Mance will not be executed. Melisandre swaps him for someone else i believe lord of the bones (the wildling guy with skull helm from season 2) using her magic. Stannis thinks he burned Mance but it's not him. He's alive and being used by Melisandre.

House of Black and White: The House of Black and White sits upon a rocky knoll made of dark grey stone. It has no windows and has a black tile roof. Its wooden doors are twelve feet high and carved. The left door is weirwood, the right ebony. In the center of the doors is a carved moon face ebony on weirwood, weirwood on ebony. Its steep steps of grey stone lead down to the shadowed dock. Besides the front door, there are also secret tunnels and hidden passages which allow entry to the temple.A winding stair leads to the garret, and a steep wooden ladder reaches the rooftop's door and a windy perch. And like most episode titles multiple meanings.

@@voidofme9192 The first scene you mean Stannis is burning idols which are wooden statues of the 7, not people. In the second scene you mean he's burning the Florents who are his wife's family because they were conspiring against him, the show just ignored that whole part. Before making a clown out of yourself do yourself a favour and double check what you're gonna say. Stannis said he would never burn his own men because of them believing in the gods of their families. She was disgusted with Stannis since she laid eyes on him, and don't get me wrong I'm not stupid and it's obvious why she doesn't like him, he's not a pretty boy like Jon, nor charismatic like Tyrion nor a pretty innocent girl like Daenerys. He's a plain just man and she finds him boring and too serious and of course I won't deny that the show does like to create this evil aura around him, but that's where the problem is, the reactor has hated the character for obvious superficial reasons that when she was found in situations where the same show was making it obvious that Stannis was doing good deeds like being the only king who actually gives a fck about the realm by helping the watch or offering Jon the North if he helps him she was completely confused and couldn't say a word, she was just like "No.. Jon don't take the offer" but she didn't even know why or what excuse to use. He was about to execute Davos for going against his orders and freeing a prisoner, action that Davos himself understood and is the reason he still stays by his side after it, because he knows Stannis is just fair. The other lords don't hate Stannis for that you totally made that up, Olenna Tyrell wanted the Tyrells to side with Stannis, Randyll Tarly wanted the Tyrells to side with Stannis, other houses from the reach (not even counting the Florents) sided with Stannis, Ned Stark sided with Stannis and a long etc. So yeah, my advice to you, don't open your mouth like that with such arrogance and entitlement when you don't know shit.

That response to Stannis from Lady Lyanna Mormont is a very "North" attitude. The northerners tend to be very independent and protective of that independence (as they are mostly descended from the "First Men" and largely fought off the Andal invasion that took over most of Westeros, also why then mostly still worship "The Old Gods" as represented by the weirwood trees rather than the Faith of the Seven as in most of Westeros). In that regard, they are a little bit like the free folk/wildlings (also descended from the First Men). "We know no king but the king in the north, whose name is Stark". Lady Mormont is a perfect portrayal of that sentiment. And yes... she would be Jorah's cousin.

Selmy's kind of right in what he's telling Dany. It's not right to make a virtue out of ruling by an iron fist. You need a force of moderation. We have seen her be the conquerer. This is the first time we're really seeing her rule and the whole "ruling is lying on a bed of weeds, ripping them out by the root, one by one, before they strangle you in your sleep" thing as Cersei had cynically said, is not going so well for her.

I felt much the same way as you did about Daenerys' decision when I first saw it. But I honestly understand why she did it, and those reasons don't resemble the Mad King or the masters in the slightest. She needed to be fair: if she hadn't punished him according to the law, the masters could blame her of favoring the past slaves. What Daenerys is trying to very hard push through right now is that everyone, regardless of their past, is an equal citizen now. I'm sure she feels more sympathy towards this boy than the Harpy, and if she wanted to act extrajudicial, she would definitely pardon him. But she is trying to remain impartial. I even understand her desicion to make it public: She probably wants to avoid having to execute her people within the walls of the pyramid. She wanted to make it absolutely clear that she won't be making exepctions, the law will be the same for everyone. It's much like when Robb executed Lord Karstark. And yes, just like with Robb, it did backfire on her, now the people do see her as one of the masters: However, that is an unfair evaluation from them, albeit understandable giving the emotional and intense nature of the situation. But as a viewer, I don't think we should judge Daenerys as such, and I don't think she made an objectively "wrong" or a "bad" decision. No matter your reasoning, the path you take might have bad consequences. Much like you, I also wondered if there could have been a different kind of solution, like a lighter punishment just this once as an example... But we can't know where that would have taken her, either.

I think he was just giving props to the face's owner. 5 is not as good as 4 but that's not saying much as 4 is widely regarded as a once in a lifetime season. It would've been hard for anything to follow that. 5 is slower, there are some bad moments. But there are some brilliant moments too. Those get downplayed a lot due to the purist gripe with 5, which really comes down to the arc of one popular character. Don't watch it with your mind already made up from comments, then you'll be subconsciously looking for faults in every scene. Watch it with fresh eyes & maybe you'll hate some stuff that ppl love & love some stuff that ppl hate. Diehard fans are often fiercely loyal to the books & all deviations are frowned upon. But let's be real they made up a small portion of the millions of viewers who were watching the show at this time, most of who didn't know or care much about what happened in Dance of Dragons. 5 is still a product of the book for the most part & still has flashes of the same brilliance. It's after all a 12 Emmy winning season with 23 nominations, which was the highest ever in the history of Emmys. Breaking Bad won 16 total in context. Had to be doing something right. The tagline of 5 is "a wicked game". That's exactly what it is. It's dark & disruptive, with a lot of buildup. 5 & 6 are basically two parts of the same season. 5 sets you up for all that comes next. It'll be much more palatable if you keep that in mind.

When he killed the Harpy he knew he was behind the murders and looking to restore Mereen to the Old Way. also a necessary important distinction: "murdering" a murderer put bluntly isn't the same as murder. nor is killing in self-defense murder, nor killing in a war considered murder, either. Murder implies a level of predation and victimization upon the innocent. The Harpy is neither a victim, nor innocent. In truth, a victimizer engaged in terrorism and predation on people like Mossador. historical civilizations were like this, and unfortunately even today you'd want such people to stand up, in the real, non sjw virtue performative way. He did what he did trying to to bring about the better future Daenerys advocated for. When he pleaded for mercy she should've shown him it.

The masks do nothing. But thanks for the fear porn recommendation. Unsubscribing now.

I lost my grandparents in a span of a week due to covid and masks were just implemented. You can choose to not listen to what I say but I strongly believe in safety whether it works or not... Good bye
