It's cool seeing Alexander Siddig (playing Doran Martel) in this show. He used to be on another favorite show of mine, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, as Dr. Julian Bashir. I don't think I ever listened to Shareen's screams as intently before as I did in this reaction.
The whole scene in the pits goes very different in the books, but this is pretty much where Dany's story is still currently at in the books - the last time we here from her shes with Drogon in the fields (just so you guys know that everything to do with Dany after the next episode isn't canon)
@@neutchain7838 Doesn't happen in the books. And Tyrion isn't with Dany either at this point, he was actually in the pits jousting with another dwarf, him and Dany have never met each other. And Dany and the Meerenese dude are already married. Barriston Semly is still alive and he was there too.
I always have to mute the final minute of the Shireen scene. After I saw it the first time, I could hear her pleas and her screams of agony echoing in my head for days afterward. Absolutely horrific.
'Book Stannis is the GOAT' Nothing has ever been so truer. But unfortunately, there is foreshadowing that Stannis will do the same in the books, but the reason is something we can only speculate. Not to fight Ramsey, bc in the Books, they stay at Castle Black while Stannis kills Boltons.
“stannis in the book is the goat” whilst i agree, the one thing george has already confirmed is that he’s going to burn shireen in them too “It wasn't easy for me. I didn't want to give away my books. It's not easy to talk about the end of my books. Every character has a different end. I told them who would be on the Iron Throne, and I told them some big twists like Hodor and Stannis's decision to burn his daughter. We didn't get to everybody by any means. Especially the minor characters, who may have very different endings." - George
The thing about Mellisandre is that she genuinely believes she is doing the right thing, and she's doing it for the right reasons. She's just grossly misinterpreting the signs and prophecies from R'hllor. I don't think she's necessarily a bad person... which is kinda the point from GRRM. He loves morally grey characters. No one is strictly black or white.
Ahhh man! I am sorry I missed this when it dropped earlier This episode ending is one of the few where I really felt goosebumps and elation. I actually almost cried when she rode Drogon for the first time Book Stannis IS the GOAT (All the characters are better in the books because of course we get more of what motivates them - more nuance in the storytelling) I wish you all wouldn’t worry about spoilers. As a reader of the series AND the Dunk and Egg books - and as a watcher of the fandom deep dive videos - I know all that is coming on HOTD and beyond but I am no less thrilled by the show than those who have no idea what I’d to come. In fact I observe that book readers are even MORE hyped BECAUSE we know Oh and yes the actor who plays Stannis is actually among the GOATS - Stephen Dillaine
I was confused why they were muting until I realized it was HOTD spoilers, but that begs the question - why would you watch both shows at the same time? Seems... poorly planned lol.
Well season 2 is coming out very soon, reaction channels will want to start reacting to it ASAP to ensure views, so delaying it wouldn't be great. I also skip the HotD spoilers when rewatching cause I want zero spoilers for the show
Gotta laugh. A couple of episodes ago, “sexual assault is one of the worst things you can do to someone” and now a child gets burnt alive at the stake with her father’s blessing. What happened to Sansa by Ramsey is terrible, but it doesn’t even rank in the top 20 terrible things that happen to someone throughout this series.
So nobody is going to adress the huge plothole in the episode? Ser Jorah takes Dany's hand ( 30:36 ) thus basically infecting her with grayscale. I've heard a few explanations to that its not contagious yet or its on the other hand and whatever but for Jorah she is probably the most important person in his world I dont think he would risk it. He certainly pulls his hand back a couple episodes later. I gues D&D kinda forgot he has it. @Corey That move is Brad Pitt's move in Troy. The sidestep+jump+stab in the chest finisher. :)
Well, the greyscale is on his wrist and I thought it was only contagious to touch the greyscale part. I don't think they've ever explained the disease well enough in the show to be sure what's going on.
@@Iiva69 I mean....would you risk it? Couple episodes later when they save her she takes one step towards him and he immedietely pulls back. I say this is aplothole allright, D&D kinda forgot about his hand. :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--XRA8CCEUB4.html
Foreshadowing is not spoiling. HOTD is a prequel of GOT. GOT does not spoil it. We All watched this before HOTD was even announced and it changed nothing.
Yeah and who is to say that everything that we know as "the histories" will play out exactly as people think it did. It's been so many years since this stuff happened, details get skewed. I don't think it spoiled hotd for me to watch got first
Ok … I hated the beginning w my princess 👸 😢💔🥀 but. The end . Happy Mother’s Day mother of dragon 🐉 🦖 love love love ❤️.. reaction’s were amazing and Blake wow 😯 u redeemed yourself ! Love the 👔 .Igli never disappoints and Corey the smile you get on that adorable face whenever dragon’s 🐉 are on screen it’s so whimsical 😊
I've asked this to a few reactors and never get a response. But what is the difference between Stannis sacrificing his daughter and Abraham sacrificing Isaac? Abraham is venerated and is considered the father of several major religions. Stannis... not so much.
I didn't get it on first watch, but the Dornish storyline is sooo bad. It seems fine on first watch because it's stuffed between GRRM plotlines at first, but on re-watch you can really tell how much of the Dornish storyline is D&D writing. All the terrible writing impulses in later seasons are on full display here (random weird macho stuff, boring dialogue, shallow world building, characters doing random shit/0 character development). Ugh
The Shireen stuff is awful, but without spoiling too much about the arc of a certain character, religious zealotry in our world is different than religious zealotry in Game of Thrones. If a religious zealot in our world pushes for human sacrifice, they're just crazy, but magic verifiably exists in GoT, which creates a fascinating moral quandary if you think about it. Did Robb and Joffrey die because of the leeches or was it chance? Magic in this world is sometimes blatant, other times it is so vague that you could dismiss it as coincidence. It's a wonderful way to screw with the audience. Is a zealot and their beliefs truly insane and objectionable if there are some instances (like the shadow assassin) where their actions have tangible results?
I like how you are thinking..I have spent way too much time thinking beyond the ubiquitous main plot points to think in a way when I view it now in which the characters are merely chess pieces the gods\magical people are moving around on their chess board..or perhaps, in the end, they are all really living inside of a big blue eye of a giant named Macomber..I actually started writing a fan fiction piece about that lol
