I was annoyed with Benjen dying at first. But if you think about it, he's half wight and he cant get passed the wall. So what else is there left to do but to sacrifice himself to save Jon and end his own suffering. That's how i look at it anyway.

Viserion dying was sad as fuck. From Drogon's mournful screeching, to Rheagal flying towards him in an effort to save him, combined with that sad music as he sinks into the lake, and seeing Dany in complete shock. It broke my heart :'(

Guys, Jon didn't get onto Drogon because he was clearing the little island they're on to give them more time to escape from the wights and to take off. Look at the take off from Drogon, he almost didn't take to the air due to a small space to gain any sort of appropriate air under his wings. Jon was keeping them off his right wing while Viserion and Rhaegal dealt with the left wing. He needs space and to not be injured while trying to get there. These dragons are not helicopters and fly straight up in the air. Jon sacrificed himself again to save others.

About the fact the dragon "exploded", it is entirely possible that in this universe, dragon fire is created by them breathing a substance that, when combined with oxygen, ignites, which would be a logical reason as to why there was an "explosion".

Chains were from the ship they brought from Hardhome. You can see it on the faraway shot showing the long line of undead pulling the chain and on the foreground when they only showed Viserion's head as he is being pulled.

I don't understand why people get upset about the show being criticized. You can enjoy something and still find fault in it.

For all the complaints from some fans: The Night King hit the dragon with his Ice Spear literally seconds after the Hound got the wight up on the dragon. So even if Jon was on the dragon as well they wouldn't have been able to leave yet the the dragon would have still been hit by the spear. Jon fighting the wights kept them off the dragons flank so they could all get on the dragon and had 0 effect on the other dragon getting hit. Its no ones fault the dragon died, or everyone's fault. They all agreed to the plan, and Dany herself flew her dragons into that fight thinking they were invincible and she couldn't lose. Now she and all of us know that is not true. Night King doesn't give a shit about your dragon and just takes him in a single throw. This lays to rest all the millions of fans putting the war in the north on the back burner thinking it all fine cause "we got dragons, just go roast them all". Or the whole "just win the war with Cersei then head north and fight" That aint gonna work now, and this proves it. There is literally no time to fight with Cersei if they want to survive the long night.This changes the stakes and removes Dany's autowin button. Also, the night king can see Bran when he greensees. Only other greenseers can do that. That means the Night King probably knew the dragons were coming and was literally waiting for that to happen. He played them all. Last but not least; the timeline does add up. Ravens can fly over 50pmh and based on GoT maps they could make the distance from the Wall to Dragonstone in around 20 hours, less if they do it in legs passing off the message, which they usually do. And dragons fly even faster, they could get there in a few hours. And they stayed the entire night and half the day waiting for the lake to refreeze over.

I don't see Benjen as deus ex machina. He is/was a Night's Watch ranger; it makes perfect sense for him to keep tabs on the NK's army. He may not have noticed the team headed out since he wouldn't think to look for one, and then he wouldn't have time to get in position to help them before they were surrounded. To me it looks like he did the only thing he could do: wait until most of the army had wandered off and try to help anyone who may have survived. It just so happened to be Jon.

arya giving the dagger to sansa is a hint, like arya telling sansa she is being played by little finger (his knife)....given that arya can tell lie from her assasin training, the handing of the dagger is a turning point. she just wants sansa to piece it together.

Benjen said in the season 6 finale that he couldn't pass the wall because of "the magic" that kept him and the dead out, so he had to die. I think they were able to bring the one dead back because he road the dragon over the the wall!

I feel like there's a scene missing with Benjen cos it was so random. They should have made a small cut to Benjen looking up and seeing the dragons fly north or something just to make it less random that hen showed up exactly when he did. 😑

I personally really enjoyed the episode and I understand people have a lot of criticism with it but what I don't get is why people think characters have all of a sudden acquired teleportation powers. I've just started re-watching GOT and in the very first episode King Robert and Cersei travel from Kings Landing to Winterfell in 5 minutes and claim they were travelling for a month yet everyone seems to have forgotten that. Characters travelling from place to place in what seems like no time at all isn't anything new. I know people have other criticism's as well but that was one that I noticed a lot of people complaining about.

I don't get the bitching this season. "This season writing is fanfic" yet GRRMs original outline had Jon falling in love with Arya. GRRM has admitted he knows the ending for select characters, not all, and shared that with the show runners. Also, a recent interview with this episode's director he admitted back in season 2 GRRM told him directly the whole series comes down to Jon and Dany's story together, and that was back when we were all Team Robb.

Fucking 3 seasons ago people were like "UGH DANY GO TO WESTEROS ALREADY, UGH JON SNOW LEAVE THE WALL ALREADY" Now it's; "UGH DANY STOP DOING EVERYTHING, UGH JON STOP GOING EVERYWHERE" I don't fucking understand, do you want them to progress the story or not?

After this episode I'm starting to believe Bran is Night king theory. From the start it felt like a trap. Night king knew Jon and co. would be there so he sent a small wight with 1 walker ahead and purposefully left 1 wight for them to capture. And he waited with spear ready for the dragons to come. That would explain why he didn't just kill them. Either Bran is Night King or Night King can also see the future

They were definitely there for a day or two at the very least! The sun goes down and comes back up again.

it is a good thing jon accept her as his queen, but because he saw the quality and the real her, she's not what he thought before, and be real she saved his and his crew ass not the other way around, and dany didnt even mention about jon need to bend the knee, it's himself who wanted it and jon never want to be a king, he accept that position cos his love for the north and people, he thought now they will get a good leader who will help and sacrifice herself for her people + her armies larger than his, and jon can focus on more action or tactic stuff things

Although very entertaining action, my favorite parts of this episode were the heavy dialogue scenes, specifically Ayra x Sansa and Dany x Tyrion. Their scenes I find myself flipping backhand forth like "That's right, Sansa! Oh no Arya was spot on with that though. Damn Tryion had a point but I also get Dany." It was like a tennis match, it was great haha! The action was intense and I couldn't stay in my seat and my heart broke several times. But I have to admit the conveniences with several moments after I reviewed it. But still quite enjoyable.

Arya isn't stupid at all, she is testing Sansa to see where her loyalties really lie knowing the whole time Littlefinger is listening nearby.She cant straight up tell Sansa or have a sit down and explain it all while littlefinger is lurking about.When Arya gave Sansa the knife it shows she is on her side ultimately.Arya want's Sansa to kill Littlefinger herself.

I think Arya and Sansa are playing Little Finger. Even the heated situations make sense. Sansa knows Little Finger hears everything, hence the private conflicts between them.

The Night King is a far older and more powerful psychic that Bran, at least at this time. He's been around for thousands of years. I think the whole thing was a complete set-up, as he 'knew' what they were trying to do, but used it himself to get a Dragon. Watch the whole episode again with that in mind, and it all makes perfect sense.

just because the show is done moving the pieces around slowly and is now moving the plot at a faster pace don't mean that it's bad writing.

Just to throw it out there... did we just witness Jon basically "Drowned God" survive in an ice lake, that had just been inundated with dragon's blood?

with regards to the raising of viserion by the night king; I think it's a case of raising on the hands raises wights, touching creates a white walker/flyer. Like with the baby that craster left outside and the white walker touched, that is now another white walker

When I watched the part at 13:28, I was all like Gandalf at the bridge of Khazad-dum, yelling : "Fly, you fools!"

Simple ways to fix all the issues in this episode: Have the 7 on the rock discuss how long they've been there and how to survive the cold. Now the audience knows that they were there for several days. Don't get tourmond dogpiled unless you plan to kill him. Weights have always been shown to be incredibly vicious, so either kill him or don't put him in a situation where he should have died. Instead of an undead bear, the group encounter benjen in the snow. Thoros doesn't get savaged and benjen joins their group. We get some dialogue between benjen and jon. Thoros instead dies in the battle later on, and benjen is the one who stays behind so the others can safely escape on the dragon. No deus ex machina with jon being saved unexpectedly, benjen gets a decent death, no weird scene where 7 baddasses get their asses whipped by a bear, and now somebody actually dies to the weights besides the nameless redshirts. The outcome is exactly the same, but now pretty much all of people's criticisms of this episode would have been dealt with.

Why don´t you guys watching the episodes in that day when they´re leaked? You can recorded and put on the youtube in day when you usually do. You will escape from spoilers.

It's been frustrating watching the reaction to this episode. People are acting as though the show will collapse into Dexter level retardation, when in fact the show is simply moving past the character building and monologuing stage.
