Well, Aunt-Nephew marriage was never a common thing in medieval times either, Catholics usually needed a papal dispensation to do it (so only the super rich could do it and usually for dynastic reasons) and Muslims didn't do it. In the shows world only the Valyrians did it, probably to keep the dragonrider genes pure and when the targaryens continued it after coming to Westeros it led to the faith militant rebellions so they stopped until Danys grandparents. Of course its not just an aunt-nephew relationship in this case. Jon and Dany are related three times over, since both Dany and Rhaegar are the offspring of a brother and sister who were themslves the offspring of a brother and sister. Third generation incest, thats pretty deep into bad.

Also, saying, "you can hear it and you'll know what's going on if you saw it," can be said about literally ANY scene. This scene probably should have been kept, in lieu of Sansa and LF's convo earlier in the episode or the scene of Sam and Bran talking, no video needed there really.
