I love these lore videos so much. Because they have no reason to make these. They're blu-ray bonus features. And yet they put so much love and detail into these. I just love them. Near as much as the world they serve to illustrate.
They have every reason to make these. Do you have any idea how many GoT back stories and lores will be green lit, these are all storyboard production. They knew exactly what they were doing
It hurts every time I see or hear Oberyn Martell. He quickly became my favorite character, he was such a cool, interesting character! You took him from us too soon, Georgey!
And I think he was the sexiest guy on the whole show- well I guess Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa) was sexier, but they killed him off WAY to soon too! Now the only manly eye-candy we have is Job Snow. Why so many sexy ladies, but mostly truly ugly looking guys?
Oberyn was disgusting. If you read the books and pay close attention to the show you would know that he had a proclivity for young, young men. Good riddance to him.
I actually really hate Ellaria Sand. She completely dishonoured Oberyn by killing Myrcella. He had even said himself that they don't hurt little girls in Dorn. I wonder how he would feel about his beloved if he knew what she did to avenge him.
Sunil Permaul how is a woman who is grieving for her beloved a cunt?! She lost her man so she wants vengeance and because Doran is so spineless and foolish this woman takes it upon herself to avenge her man and his family, Doran wants peace? This is game of thrones, peace does not exist. Mercyla didn't deserve it? What about Elia Martell and her children? Did they deserve what Tywin Lannister ordered the Mountain to do? What goes around comes around.
First off, I didn't call her a cunt. Check who said what. Also if Ellaria wanted revenge, I can understand that. However the way she went about it is what betrayed the views of the man she loved. The fact that Dorne would not hurt a little girl is a point that made them feel superior than the Lannisters. Ellaria just brought them down to the same level by killing Myrcella. That's why I hate her. It's not what Oberyn would have wanted. Ellaria should have killed the ones responsible.
When game of thrones have concluded I really wish they'd continue capitalizing on the title and make movies or short series on such things as Robert's Rebellion, the Dance of Dragons, the Kings of Winter and Aegon's Conquest. Or perhaps something we've never heard of. The world of Ice and Fire is such a realised world with subtle hints of magic and I just really want to see more of it depicted on the big screen.
Jesse Peters I've heard HBO is going to do dunk and egg, which eventually ends with the tragedy at summer hall. George hasn't finished the dunk and egg story yet, so we shall see. I agree, the dance of the dragons would be awesome to see.
Jesse Peters I know this is an old comment but they've recently confirmed 4 follow on series :) so probably gunna have thrones on tv for quite some time
I've heard HBO - arguably the best network in the world - is reluctant to be known as "the GoT network". They have too many good shows, they also produced the best show of all time. It's one of those good problems, I guess.
Viserion is an undead slave to the Night King now. He died painfully, and then things got even worse for him. I feel sorry for him. Plus, it's a very likely possibility that Viserion will likely end up causing the death of Drogon and or Rhaegal, and that's if thrown ice spears from the Night King don't make them share the same fate as him, or if a ballista bolt from Cersei's forces does. Martin did say things weren't gonna have a "happy ending", and the final true extinction of these legendary creatures would be the opposite of happy.

According to Tywin. One big takeaway from this story is that almost no one is a completely reliable narrator; they all have different perspectives and viewpoints that color their understanding of the exact same events. Everyone believes themselves to be the hero of their own personal story.
My god the voice acting for these featurettes area amazing. I want to cry every time I hear Oberyn talk of Elia. And Bronn makes me laugh out loud. Great great work
"Who was too slow, or too arrogant of Robert's war hammer..." I can think of another who was too arrogant when facing an adversary. He got his head crushed like it was a water melon. He was from Dorne too.
For some, I think Rhaegar tried to tell Robert the truth while fighting and Robert crushed his chest in a rage believing he was lying and dishonoring Lyanna. Robert was also very angry at the "kidnapping".Because many people say that Rhaegar hated killing so maybe he was too slow for that reason since he was able to defeat any enemy, when challenged but it wasn't said in the book.

Lol no !! Rhaegar just got defeated by an angry man. Game of thrones is not your typical show where good hearted men only lose with a compelling reason. Robert just defeated him.
vicious12000 mean the thing is, Rhaegar should have been on their level at least a little. He defeated both Arthur Dayne and Barristan at the Harrenhal Tournament
Poorly-written fanfics don't count as canon, even if, by some unfortunate oversight, they take form of a high-budget shows, so no, he's not finished yet indeed.
It's always gratifying to watch the "Histories and Lore" videos, not only do they help much learn about Westeros and the rest of the GOT world, they make the series twice more interesting 😉! Therefore, thanks ScrivaTV 😊!
I love these and sorry I put them in to my own list cause I listen to them every night they lull me to sleep and normally I’m asleep whilst trying to listen to all of them
Just found this channel and I absolutely love how it reads like a book, pictures and all, and how it’s divided in chapters. It all makes it easily digestible for the viewer.
Bronn"After a few days they say the skies start calling to you. Men jump with smile on their faces, expecting the wind to lift them into the sky. It doesn't. TO THINK LORD TYRION WAS ONE TIT-SHAPED CLOUD AWAY FROM DEATH." I fucking died.
Hearing Oberyn talk and seeing what he meant to Dorne makes me wish he was the one representing Dorne for seasons to come and fighting by Dany and Jon's sides. Ellaria and the Sand Snakes put him to shame and brought no justice to him or his sister and her children and only ruined Dorne's future.
Nell Acda Yeah it's all the actors from the show doing the voiceovers I assume I it was created by HBO to give a bit of background and lore for people that are interested :)
tormunds story about the giant who breast fed him, lol, he just told the story on the show in season 8 episode 2. thats cool to see that it was apart of his back story year and years ago
It's from the books that's why he's called tormund giantsbane. And he mated with a bear who cut off half his cock but it's ok cause it's still massive lol
Varys at 7:30 "A war of five kings can end only one way: with the death of four." Balon Greyjoy at S06E02 "The war of the Five Kings they call it. Well the other four are dead!"
One thing I hated about the Lannisters is their arrogance and thinking they were above many houses including Stark's when we all know very well they were a minor house and a joke at one point it was until tywin that elevated them Cersi smug face irritates me
A minor house isn't the same thing as being a failing house. The Lannisters were never really a minor house, like The Starks they're a house that traces itself back to a king that had to bend or be broken by Agon's Conquest. They were once Kings of the West as Starks were Kings of the North. So, while they were failing during the time of Tywin's father (i.e. having less influence and power) they weren't a minor house. By comparison the Tyrells were a minor house, before the destruction of House Gardner.
stgm tywin saved the family from his father and he felt the pressure weighing down on him to uphold the family name. That name will die cuz Jaime underachieved , Cercei as well due to her marriage to Robert and Tyrion betraying (though it was justified) the family
4:28 one thing to touch on from the first book of the series. When Robert saw the bodies he looked away and tried not to acknowledge the unnecessary deaths, but it Was Ned who raised hell about it. Saying it was blood that will be on Robert’s hands as well.
Wow, I really should go back and re-listen to these. At least two stories are foreshadowed here before their season aired - Tormund's giants milk story (Season 8) and Ellaria Sand talking about legitimized bastards and true-born heirs with regards to their father (Season 6).
My Huge one is that Caitlyn never found out about Jon’s true parentage, and that Ned was always true to her and had never cheated with a tavern wench. A Lady Stoneheart and Jon scene could have been very moving, if they had kept her storyline.
I wonder now if the mad king was given basilisk blood. As oberyn described it would make any man insane.. turn a mouse to turn on a lion ( lannisters) maybe?
Rhaegar abandoned the sand to play with the snow and it cost him his whole family, the kingdom he's supposed to inherit, and his life that was celebrated by everyone.
Scoops Da Vinci I was actually quoting Brawn. Jamie Lannister had promised him a high borne beauty and a castle, season 7 when Brawn saved Jamie's life his reasoning for doing so was that Jamie promised him a high borne beauty and a castle and he couldn't get it if he died.....
codafett she'll get her justice just show myrcella infront of Cersie cause her face isn't beautiful anymore and let her reveal she is against her mother
Diego Cobo Sánchez I thought so too, a very clever nod to the show, all in all I really like these History and Lore they are really informative and arent restrained from CGI budget but simply from a drawers pen
Julian Glover is every sci-fi/fantasy fan's hero. He's been in Doctor Who twice, Star Wars, a Bond film, an Indiana Jones film, Harry Potter, and Game of Thrones.
Would have been funny if like Samwell put his ear to the wall one night, after the encounter with the Walkers, and heard the chopping of axes from somewhere within. Distant echoes of dull metal chipping away at the ice, Arsen still trying to carve his way through though now risen as a Wight perhaps
I love everything about these stories except what Jaime said about the Hound. The man is far from a dog who turned tail he has just seen enough and snapped. I'm positive he would have kept fighting is the cause was better than Joffrey. It took more courage to say fuck the Kings guard, fuck the city and fuck the king to his face than it would have taken to stay in that fight. The Hound is easily one of my top 5 characters along with Tyrion, Bronn, Arya and of course Jon. There are so many other that I could include as well because this story and the characters were as well written as anything in history. Tywin Lannister and King Robert would be on that list but they've been dead on the show for a while. Ned, Oberyn Martel so many others deserve mention. Dany is great but not top 5 material.
I really hate how everyone from Lannisters, Baratheons and Small council talks of old Targaryen dynasty as they were some snails! Fills me with hate, wish the writers could have killed them by burning them in their own shit!! Also during the series, Lannisters acting like Red keep and King's Landing was their home from the start, mocking Targaryen undertakes and miring kingdom they built really supported the fire. It is more than clear that no one, neither Robert, nor Tywin nor anyone else, had the intention to bring justice to Targaryens. They only wanted the Throne, for God'sake! If they were merciful, Ellia would have been brought back to Dorne, live a peaceful life with kids she wouldn't bring to Westeros, but they killed her children for crimes and misdeeds they didn't even do. Maybe Daenerys became the Mad Queen because everybody had already thought of that role for her, judging her ancestors.
Why did the History of House Martell ignore the fact that they got into bed with the Targaryens not once but twice back to back. It wasn't Mariah Martell that secured Dorne coming in, it was Princess Daenerys marrying into the Martells that truly did the trick.
The windblown are rarely mentioned as far as I have read or watched got even though there up there with the golden company and the 2nd sons apparently for sellsword groups I wonder why that is
