If you guys remember, when Thoros brought back Berric Dondarrion for the first time, he said that he had lost all faith and that the only reasons he said the prayers was because they were the only words he knew. Melissandre is in the same place - she's lost all her faith and doesn't expect it to work, but then Jon comes back too.

Kit (Jon) was told two weeks after the cast found out that Jon was going to die that he was going to come back to life but he had to keep it a secret. "At first I thought I would find it fun. This will be a fun game. But I had to lie to a lot of close friends and cast members and crew. The longer it went, the more I felt like I was betraying them. So I did end up letting people in, slowly. Sophie Turner (Sansa), bless her, wrote me a really long letter about how much she loved working with me - and I still got it. That made me chuckle." He also told Liam (Davos) that Jon was really dead and Liam told Kit" to f*** off from the start" Other than his parents and Rose (Ygritte) Kit told the truth to a police officer to get out of a speeding ticket. The officer told him he had two options follow him to the station to be booked or tell him if Jon is still alive. Kit thought it was a joke until the officer said “I have to tell you, whether I take you into the police station depends on what your answer is. Kit then told him "I'm alive next season" To this, the officer reportedly said, “On your way Lord Commander. Keep the speed down this far south of the Wall.”

in case you didn't notice, here at 5:01, what Ned tells Benjen, "Keep your shield up or I'll ring your head like a bell", is EXACTLY what Jon had said to Olly when he was training him

One of my favorite non-Tyrion lines this episode has to be: "I've never been much of a fighter. My apologies for what you're about to see."

Funny story I heard a while ago. I was waiting till this episode was posted to share. Kit (Jon Snow) was pulled over for excessive speeding. It was bad, he could’ve been arrested where it happened. (I forgot where, thought it was the states but I’m told it was somewhere in the UK). This happened between season 5 and 6 airing. The cop, when he realized who he pulled over told him something like this. “You got one of two choices. Follow me to the Police station where you’re get booked for speeding, or tell me whether Jon Snow comes back to life in season 6.” Kit looks at him and says “Jon Snows comes back to life.” The cop hands him back his license and says “On your way Lord Commander”

When the resurrection ceremony didn’t work right away, I think my exact words were, “I knew it... F this crap! They build it up and NOTHING!” I was halfway up out of my seat to leave the room in disgust and I saw Ghost sit up and I froze... “PLEASE!?” Jon’s eyes popped open and I swear I squealed, jumped up, and did a happy dance. I ❤️❄️! I ❤️👻!

Hearing Steven say “Come on Melisandre” was great. I bet you never thought you would say that. Love your reactions and so glad you didn’t give up.

It's little subtle callbacks I like in this episode -- Ned says to Benjen, "Keep your shield arm up or I'll ring your head like a bell" and tousles Benjen's hair just like Jon did when he was training Olly. And Roose Bolton died the same way he killed Robb.

Also fun fact... When Ramsay 'hugged' Roose he was actually checking to see if he was wearing chainmail under his clothes. Also he stabbed him the exact same was Roose killed Robb. A bit of karma there.

Lol it’s funny she said she wanted Jon to go pretend to be a ghost because when the stark kids were young Rob and Jon pranked the kids by covering himself in flour and hiding in the Stark Crypt. Bran recalls it in the books 😂

To answer your question about the year-long gap between season 5 and 6, it wasn't anywhere near as depressing as you might think. In fact, it was actually the opposite. You might be interested to learn that the Game of Thrones series actually caught up with the George R.R. Martin's novel in season 5. There was RAMPANT speculation that Jon snow was still alive because of the cliffhanger the books ended on (it wasn't clear if Jon Snow actually died in the books, although he clearly did on the show). It was so widespread that even the show-runners and HBO executives had to put out press releases trying to kill off the controversy. George R.R. Martin sort of dropped a hint that Jon might still be alive and there were news articles everywhere about Kit Harington being spotted on set during the filming of season 6 (which he denied every chance he got). All the press and controversy actually helped to increase the ratings for the premiere because everybody wanted to find out for sure.

One of my FAVORITE quotes from the High Sparrow is the combo between the one where he mentioned when the few stop fearing the many, they can overthrow an empire.

Many of the viewers had a whole year to process, so I believe more than 80% connected that Melisandre being at Castle black would result in him coming back to life.

Ok when John snow die my husband didn't speak for two days and called in sick to work. I couldn't really talk about game of thrones. So when season 6 came he didn't watch the first episode , but he did watch the episode 2 and was crying when John snow woke up.

Steven - it's ok to cry, bro! This show gets everyone somehow, sometime. I'm rewatching these episodes with you and I'm STILL trying to track down that troll hiding behind my couch and cutting onions during every other episode. ;) As for my experience watching it in syndication, I can finally share that although I had nearly the exact same reaction as you after the finale, having read the books (up to that point in the stories when Jon gets stabbed) there had already been a TON of theories and speculation from book readers that he might come back either as a warg (via Ghost) or possibly resurrected by Melisandre. It was a whole year of waiting, but it was also a whole year of everyone (not just me) but everyone asking David and D.B. "Is Jon Snow really dead?". It was a riot and an ongoing joke through all of the talk shows and media up through the fall and into the winter. The truth is and was that Jon Snow was really dead and that's what everyone told the media. But some of us, like me, really wanted to hold onto the hope that he would come back somehow. That's probably what kept me on board - knowing what I knew from the books and hoping the red woman could bring him back. And she did. Side note that I think is worth sharing... there are some real gems of the cast trolling everyone via twitter comments during this time and Carice van Houten (Melisandre) just killed it with her tweets from the last 5-6 episodes up to this point. I'm not saying to look them up... please don't, in fear of spoilers, but damn! If one of the mods could find and share, it might make you both laugh and cringe. (speaking of the post s5e9 photo). There's more but this is the longest YT comment ever. This season is gonna be great and I can't wait to keep watching with you! :)

There was rumours going around about Melissandre being there and the Lord of Light bringing Beric back, so by the time season 6 came on so we kinda hoped the rumours were true and that's what we were excited to see if it would happen. When it did my heart leapt out of my chest at Jon coming back because he's one of my favourites 😊❤

to be honestly, when Jon died at the end of S5, my thought process was GoT is not about one central person, so I get it. But the internet ruined it for me after 6x01, rumors and theories where all over about him returning to life. I still found joy in that last shot. Plus, ya'll realize just a few eps ago, you were like 'F*ck Melisandra' and now 'we love u Melisandra'. That's what this show does.

What kept me watching is definitely Daenerys and Arya's story. I wasn't a big fan of Jon Snow until season 6 but i didnt want him to die on season 5. I knew he was going to be alive as soon as i saw ghost getting near Jon i was like yep his gonna wake up any second. Also i think everybody has cried watching game of thrones i know i have lol.

The fact that you didn’t know he was coming back/didn’t even speculate it made the reaction x 1000 more amazing. I was home alone and I screamed in my pillow and ran around the house calling my friends who watch the show as well. It was a great GREAT time to be alive. Another Actor Note: Kit Harrington had forgotten to tell Sophie Turner he was coming back and she wrote him a goodbye letter he teases her with every so often. The other actors were constantly asked if he was alive or coming back. But Liam Cunningham (Ser Davos) had the best way to deal with it: Someone asks, "Is Jon Snow coming back?" Liam answers, "Okay, here's what's going to happen-" The fan recoils because they realized *"-WAIT WAIT WAIT! I DON'T WANT TO KNOW!!!"*

When I watched the season 5 finale I was sooooo pissed. But then people started to theorize after seeing Melissendre come back to Castle Black and I was convinced it wasn't really over. So it was really just waiting in anticipation for that to happen.

After waiting a year and two weeks, I shat myself when Jon took that breath. And the show only gets better from here. Best TV show of all time, best react channel of all time.

I always read the post episode discussions on the GoT subreddit, and a lot of people there were predicting that Jon would return. So that little nugget of hope really helped get me through the year long wait.

We all wondered in what way they would do it, would he warg into ghost, would they look for Beric and Thoros. It was fun knowing all the stories and guesses. Most of us said we forgive Melisandre a little if she raised Jon. On the rewatch we put the pieces together and knew he had to come back. Then we saw Kit on set a few times. When Ghost raised his head me and my family all held our breaths and jumped when Jon took his breath. Congratulations you guys for sticking it out. P.S. There was so much speculation in the time between those seasons that I was truly convinced that Jon wasn't really gone, I got right into all the theories and it all made sense to me that it was possible to bring Jon back. But when I watched it, it was pure relief.

I though Jon's death would mean Sam, Bran or Ed becoming the main piece in the fight against the whitewalkers, so in a way, I was curious to see who would succeed to Jon. Btw, even Barack Obama called the writters to ask if Jon was really dead after the season 5 finale.

I have been waiting all day for this reaction! When Jon took that breath and opened his eyes, I yelled out loud “OH MY GOD!!!!” Then my dad knocked on my door and asked if I was okay. Hahaha! I was so unsure because it was already episode 2. Like others, another thing that brought me back to the show was the months of hearing people’s theories that Melisandre could possibly resurrect Jon. I didn’t share that previously because it would have been a bit of a spoiler. I have said it before and I’ll say it again: this show is an emotional roller coaster! So glad to see your spirits rise up :)

For a lot of us, it was worse because we knew he died back in 2011 when the last book was released. So we had to watch a majority of the show knowing what would eventually happen. Although, as a few others mentioned, Jon's perspective was "too important" to the White Walker storyline (opinion, not verified fact. Honestly, we don't know) for him to stay dead. He really is the only "main" character who has an active part in the Dead Rising threat so far, at least. Add to that the Thoros reviving Dondarion thing was really just a set-up for Jon's resurrection. But yeah, the wait was grueling.

Jon Snow dies in the very end of the 5th book "A Dance of Dragons". I read that book in 2012, and so did a lot of other people. The wait for the revelation of Jon´s fate was 4 years. 5 years for the people who read it in 2011 when the book was released. By then the television show had already started captivating people all over. So for me I wanted to see how the showrunners were going to portray the diffrent big moments from the book in a live television show. As most people will agree the showrunners did not disappoint. And seing Jon come alive? I screamed out YES!!!!!!!!!

All im gonna say is the rest of this season is gonna blow your minds. Hold on to your hearts.

It was excitement for me. Most of the fandom hadn’t lost all hope because we knew that Melisandre was there and that couldn’t have just been a coincidence.

Honestly, at the time it was the worst kept secret ever that Jon Snow was coming back. He kept taking planes back to Glasgow (where they film) and never cut his hair. So really that was the reason I kept watching lmao.

A few episodes back you asked why we watch this show. Get it now? :-D One thing that helped us throughout the whole year was all the theories. There were a bunch of thoughts that he could Warg like bran and his consciousness was in Ghost. There were people that were right. There were other thoughts about his parents... All sorts of talk. All gave hope. Him not coming back in 6-1 was a big setback, but then BOOM!

Lots of people were wanting you to only do the 3 episodes last week. Which would have put 5x10 6x01 and 6x02 together this week. Now you see why. Though that just makes this episode feel all that much better with the wait. So glad you didn’t quit after 5x10.

Well, season 5 is where the books also currently end (for now), so book readers + show watchers only, had NO idea what was to happen from season 6 onwards. So that year went a little something like this: Episode airs: NOOOOOOO! SHIT ON IT! That's it. We're done. A week later: I can't believe those MFers killed JON SNOW. Weeks 3-52: Filled with watching theory videos, fan made videos, on set leaked videos, plus official trailers whilst yelling, " I still can't believe those MFers killed Jon!". Episode 6x01: That's it. Rub it in. -_- Episode 6x02: YOU MFERS! :O

we had 1 year to think about all the details, about how he could be resurrected by the red woman, so after so much speculation, i was pretty sure it was gonna happen, so i wasn't surprised. but i still felt joy.

Fun fact: Kit Harrington was stopped by a policeman for speeding between seasons 5 and 6.. the cop said, "I'll let you go if you tell me if your alive in season 6" Kit said, "Yeah I'm alive." And the cop said, "on your way, lord commander" 😆😆😆

Reading all those comments on the previous two episodes where everyone was pretending Jon is dead and everyone paying their respects was probably the best part of this whole thing. Haha RIP Jon Sn... oh wait... nevermind.

I read one theory that posed the thought it wasn’t Melisandre’s faith or lack thereof, but Ser Davos’ unwavering belief and faith in Jon that made Melisandre’s magic work in this instance. Not sure, but it’s an interesting theory. ❄️❄️❄️
