I thought It would've been really funny if they told Gendry to run for the wall and that was the last time we saw him.

I feel like this season could of easily been 10 episodes, everything feels rushed.

When she saw the scars, that's the moment she realize that John is far superior leader than she is. People die for her, he died for his people.

The dragon part got spoiled for me but I was so worried tormund was gonna die.

Arya knows that Sansa isn't lying. She's nudging her to see that little finger is trying to play them both against each other. The face's and than giving her the dagger at the end is her way of saying to kill LF and use his face to control the vale.

So here is my theory! The night king has the same power to see the whole past, or more importantly the present(and maybe the future?), as Bran. With this power he knows all of what is going on and is playing at a game larger than the squabble story lines, and thus he engineered a way to get himself a dragon out of that big mess. Consider this: When Bran worged the crows in the previous episode he saw the army of the dead standing at the same rock outcrop in a lake that the group would later be stuck on. Bran forwarded this information to Jon, who then took off to find the dead and bring back a 'live' sample for the group meeting. The night king then baited the group with exactly what they wanted and was then able to then entrap them in his snare. This is evidenced by the dead immediately and purposefully encircling the group, stranding them on the rock in the lake. Plus, if you remember that while several undead sank at the first thin ice part, at the latter battle (where the hound smashed the ice with the hammer and several fell in) those two undead were able to come back up out of the water with seemingly no issue to later grab on to Tormund. An indeterminate time later, presumably while waiting for the ice to extra fully thicken(?), the raven-scrolls were able to get the dragons on their way in time to reach the battle; not to soon but not to late either. So now we see several dragons and the night king in the same area, and this is the first time he is spurred to action. Not only is he moving, but he already has a dragon ice spear in hand waiting. The scene then briefly pauses the camera, showing him aiming at the stationary dragon collecting the group on its back, and then pans over to have him aim at the dragon flying through the air. He hits this dragon squarely, showing more than just skill, and it crashes through the ice and sinks into the water, making it unrecoverable and not burnable to the group. The night king then, quickly leaves to go get the chains attached(by under underwater) to what looked to be a collar to bring the dragon up out of the water by its neck. These chains could have all been part of the plan and not something the night king had to march back to get necessarily. Or, and I'm not sure of the lore, but they could have already fought with dragons previously, thus explaining the spears already handy and possible dragon collar. I also believe the night king himself controls everything that has blue eyes simultaneously, or at least within some proximity. I do not think the high pitched scream alone was what brought the conveniently out of sight but nearby army to them so quickly. What do you think? Does the night king knows everything going on in the kingdom and is working what he can towards his own end? Is it because of the mark he caused on Bran or something to do with his own powers? Or finally, is it just happening as the gods whimed and prophecies foretold, in some sort of fatalism/destiny? Is the night king bound to carry out a fate knowing he will be defeated for the betterment of all, and sees it clearly? Is it a power higher than the understanding of the forest people? I guess we will find out. P.s. What the hell Benjen?

Arya flat-out annoyed me this episode....actually she's kind of annoyed me since the season began.

I was hoping that Rhaegal would fly in and save jon but... fuck it. Now we got 2 dragon riders left. Jon= Rhaegal, Daenarys= Drogon

There was plenty of time for Benjen to put Jon on his horse and ride to The Wall. Total waste of a character.

Tormond has quickly become one of my favorite characters and I thought he was a goner. It was kinda cool how it all worked out with the Hound and Tormond. The Hound wants to be a mean, angry man so badly but can't help himself from being a good guy.

Arya doesn't believe Sansa is a traitor.. She's believes Sansa is a coward and will do anything out of fear of losing her life. We know this because Arya said "they would have had to kill me before I'd betray my family "...honestly though, I believe they are playing Littlefinger

I think Arya is playing Littlefinger. She's pretending to let Littlefinger manipulate them so that when he finally strikes, she can expose him and kill him.

Hardhome Depot had a special on dragon chains.

Tbh it didn't seem like Jon was helping them get away. Everyone was already on the dragon and ready to go but he was still out there fighting with the Wights. If he had stopped fighting and got on Drogon they might have been able to leave with all 3 dragons.

How many unnamed extras went north of the wall with them? Their spontaneous appearance - one, after another, after another - was the most magical thing to happen on this show yet.

I believe Arya is just playing along with Littlefinger's game to make him think everything is going his way. She's basically just entertaining him until he slips up and I'm sure he'll get what's coming to him. I don't think she can just outright kill him even though she knows that he's dangerous because it would risk losing support like from the Eyrie. She'll need proof. Maybe about him having a part in the deaths of Jon and Lysa Arryn. Just a thought

Hi Charlie! Q&A: In Season 2 Dany says right after Viserys got his crown, that "Viserys was no dragon. Fire cannot kill a dragon". Do you think that George R.R. Martin already foreshadowed that Ice does? And will we see some epic air battles between the dragons? Like LOTR Nazgul vs. Eagles fights.

Did Jon really called Daenerys, Dany? I chuckled. Looks like a fanservice imo that both characters will soon be more close (intimate) together.

so bran is just sitting on his ass? he does nothing to help jon or make things clear with sansa and arya. it's just annoying, you have this character who sees everything and does nothing helpful

Why aren't they using Bran's character more??? He could be so useful, but I feel like the writers can't give him a proper place in the story, or they don't know how.

Okay, so after much consideration this is my theory. The Night King planned for what happened in episode 7 to go exactly the way it did because he wanted/needed a dragon. He has similar powers to Bran, right, so maybe he's aware of everything going on south of The Wall. Knows that they not many believe he exists, and are vulnerable, knows Jon is attempting to unite everyone, and knows he's visiting Dany, so sends Bran visions to trick him into sending a raven to Jon, knowing he wouldn't hesitate to act, and that he'd bring a skeleton crew to fight his literal skeleton army, and that then they would have to rely on Dany and her Dragons to save them and boom he gets a Dragon. Think about it, the Night King didn't even move or do anything until the dragons showed up, and then almost lazily gets his ice javelin out and kills a dragon like it's a piece of cake.

I think Arya is playing Littlefinger since she was there when he was talking with Tywin back when she was pouring wine for them. I think she knows he's a two faced and had betrayed their family.

When Arya says that she can wear many faces and that she can talk like anyone, she actually changes they way she speaks into the way Little Finger talks. Foreshadowing? Maybe.

Now the Night King can play some Yu Gi Oh! with his blue eyes "wight" dragon. 😂

Am I the only one who has trouble trying to identify which dragon is which ? It seems like now they have gotten bigger they have all gotten the same colour, used to be really obvious who was who at the start.

The Jon/Daenerys relationship is way too forced. It doesn't feel remotely natural and it feels as if it's mandatory for them to get together. I don't notice Jon "staring longingly" at Daenerys at all and when did he know to call her "Dany"? Doesn't make much sense to me.

Sansa will kill Littlefinger next episode with the dagger that was passed through all of the Starks (all symbolising the rejecting LF, like their mother). Arya will use his face to take control of the Veil.

I had a weird feeling in this episode that Night King was waiting patiently for the Dragons arrival , almost as if he has some kind of notice of what's to happen and or contact outside the wall. If possible how and who at all possible could feed him over the wall information?

Rather than blue fire, I'm wondering if the dragon will have frost breath.

Who the hell swam down that frozen lake and hooked the chains up to that dragon?

Looking back at this episode I noticed that it has a lot of *"That Doesn't Make Any Sense"* scenes

They're going to create another giant Scorpion Crossbow thing except this time use dragon glass spears to kill the undead dragon.

We also learn in this episode about dragon fire. We all know that White Walkers can't die from regular fire but there were a few theories going around that they may be able to die from dragon fire. There was a great shot showing the Night King walking through and almost extinguishing a line of dragon fire just before throwing the spear!

The writing on this show after season 3 has been very often irrational, but in regards to the tension between Arya and Sansa you have to remember that when she was younger, Sansa was a completely self-centered brat with serious entitlement issues. I think a lot of people have forgotten this. She was never one to put her family's best interests before her own selfish desires. This is Arya's last memories of Sansa's character as a young girl before they were separated. To Arya, Sansa was always a bit of a d-bag and they rarely, if ever, saw eye-to-eye. Arya is old enough and experienced enough in life now to understand the impetus behind that letter, but it reminded her of Sansa's selfish character as a youth and angered her enough to break her chops over it. There are so many moments in this show now with poor writing, but to me this scene made perfect sense.

Nobody noticed John Snow being saved by the drown god? The moment John Snow is drowning in the ice water someone like a mermaid with orange hair came to help her (it can be seen for just a moment) then he comes out of the water and after that uncle Benj came to help

Night King came prepared. He held the wights back waiting for the dragons to arrive. He could have just made them form some kind of skeletal body bridge if he truly wanted to kill Jon and Co., but he didn't. He also brought a fuck ton of javelins. Those weren't the usual White Walker weapons - we've seen their polearms/spears that are some sort of iced metal attached to a shaft - as per Hardhome, The Door, and even the walker that Jon killed early in the episode. But what he brought were long and ice all the way through, except for a sharp tip. They intentionally brought only ice javelins because they knew the dragons would be there, and they wanted one. He knew they would be there and came prepared, as he has greensight - as we see in S6, other greenseers can interact with Bran in his vision (Bloodraven repeatedly makes physical contact with Bran in their visions). This is exactly what the NK does to mark Bran - shares the vision and interacts with him. So he has greensight (icesight?). (Not original comment) I copied this in here because this explains some "plot holes" imo.

"Beyond The Wall" Alternative scene Everyone had mounted Drogon and was ready to escape. The wight tightly secured. Vast damage done to the NK army. As drogon takes off, NK aims ice spear. Daenerys saw the NK aiming at them and as soon as NK throws ice spear, Viserion came in the way to shield drogon and team. Viserion was severely injured and plummeted to the ground. Daenerys was about to come to rescue but NK has another ice spear ready. She made the difficult decision to leave viserion behind. As they made a sharp flight Jon falls off the dragon into the icy lake. The NK was ready to target them but drogon had sped up and too far already. Meanwhile, viserion, severely injured tries best to fight and fly. No more fire out of his mouth. NK approaches viserion with an ice spear and forcefully thrusts spear into helpless viserions chest. Viserion let out one last loud shriek and slowly succumbs to death. Daenerys and team hears shriek as they fly away aborting mission.

Q&A: Do you think the Night King knew what was going to happen, and planned it (the whole, Dany comes in to save Jon and his squad with her dragons, so the Night King has the opportunity to kill one [Viserion]? Because they could've just froze the lake themselves, rather than waiting for it to freeze over. Was it bait? :/

I was actually confused which dragon had died at first until I realised how obvious it'd be that it must be Viserion because of course Jon would eventually end up riding Rhaegal who is named after his true father.

I think at this point, nobody really worries about Jon. The show did some good jobs when it came to unexpected deaths, but Jon is pretty much essential for the show rn.

CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW LONGCLAWS EYES OPEN WHEN JON COMES OUT FROM UNDER THE ICE

why did Jon snow and company did not even bring a single horse north of the wall. It looks to me as if they literally walked into the giant battle so as to get nearly dead. Taking some horses with them would have made their task much easier after capturing a wight. It looked to me as though the show runners somehow wanted a reason to kill of a dragon to balance the power. It was highly unrealistic not taking a few horses in such a scenario.

Ppl was complaining about "why the white walker don't throw an ice arrow to the lake to freeze it ... why the white walkers this..... why the w.w that .... how do they get chains with them like if they were waiting for a dragon" and I feel that that's exactly the point that nobody understand They could kill them all that time but they "wait" for something, like if they knew that because of this the dragons will come and them they will be able to take one The reallity is that they don't care about Jon, that's where everybody is mistaken, and in this episode they show this and also that means too that they know things, they know about dragons, they know they would come, and that point makes me more afraid of them than ever cause they don't kill just for kill, they are making strageties, they're playing a game
