yeah Valyria you mean. Although Westeross is Europe it is more inspired in America's history. It's literally in the West. This children were the incarnation of the nature, and the first men started a cycle of colonizations, they would the native american, they arrive through Beringia an "arm" like Dorne's than then broke by a colossal event . And Volantis and the house Targaryan are the descendants of that first large empire, Rome and its successors, Castile, Portugal, etc. But in this world, Rome (Valyria) got what it deserved. Absolute destruction. It's still a fairytale indeed.
