Justin is almost always reductive about games, unless it revolves around his niche interest

the game is generic. Yes it's pretty, yes it's polished. That doesn't make it anything other than the status quo for Playstation and Disney. They played it safe with the game.

Sam made an interesting point about whether fighting games should fall under the sports category. I'd say if it's UFC then yes but Mortal Kombat then no and so forth.

Layoffs happen in every industry. What's the value in hearing their opinions of this? Plus, virtually zero games journalists have any background in finance/econ (for some strange reason). What they have to say wouldn't be that informative.

Its not hard to imagine a world around this franchise but it is hard to imagine a quality film. This film is not being made because someone has an idea they are passionate about or because the franchise has any narrative juice to squeeze from, its being made because it could be an excellent marketing vehicle to further sell games and merchandise. The impetus for the production of this film is cynical and it invites a cynical response.
