It has been in development since 2019 when it was announced and a trailer was shown, so at least 5 years

It's the kids that are wrong

I’ll tell ya! It was fine. I thought it was a platformer, but it’s not. It’s just a cat walking sim with QTE buttons for jumping. Overall it was cute and I liked the ending, but it didn’t blow my mind in any way. It was short too so it didn’t overstay its welcome. In short, i don’t think I’ve thought about Stray even once after i rolled credits.

The same way they don't know how Owen is related to Luke, or that Masters of the Universe is commonly referred to as "He-Man".

@@tokitowa8783 That's not the point. The point is its disingenuous to imply the Mateix tech demo was more fun to play/had better gameplay. We're talking simple, yet fluid combat versus straight quick time events 😆

They literally addressed that it's noble to try to portray that experience. Finding it annoying is actually being empathic! Do people with schizophrenia enjoy it? No.

​@@olaf3140I think the point was this is equivalent to someone who plays a souls game and complains. It's too hard. Well it was supposed to be hard. That is the point of it. Experiencing the thing that they want you to experience. So talking as if it's a flaw in the game is not accurate. It's like if someone never heard of a souls game before and then they reviewed a soul's game and they gave a critique that the game's bosses felt too hard. As if that's something the game could fix when in reality that was the point. By voicing this critique, this way they're saying it as if that's something the game can change to make it better when that was the point of it to begin with.

Sam used to be horrible at interrupting and talking over people. He's got a lot better at that.

The first game had nothing to prove. It was just a fantastic indie title made by 14 people. The second game also is an indiegame at heart but because of the lack of exclusives it has to carry to much weight on its shoulders.

(Haven't played either so take this with a grain of salt but...) this happens all the time with sequels. The first gets a pass because it's new, it's new ideas and mechanics, etc. Plenty of people called it more or less a walking sim but the ideas were well executed. When a sequel doubles down and doesn't improve gameplay specific things (not graphics) then it will rightfully get torn apart

Have you considered that Hellblade 1 was simply a better game and it has nothing to do with console? I played the entire game on PC for the graphical edge it has over consoles. If this had come to PS5 on the same day, I would've still played on PC. I didn't think about Xbox once while playing this game, especially given that I played on Steam lol. Hellblade 1 was just a better game.

The first Hellblade could also be played in vr!

It’s hilarious because people loved death stranding which literally had no gameplay other than balancing yourself while walking for the first ten plus hours of the game, but hate on this. There’s a clear double standard in the industry. If someone like Kojima made this game they would be calling it a work of art.
