The black guy from the cutscene is not the same guy when it goes to gameplay, this makes sense because he is carrying a different weapon and looks different when you die and it pans out. I do think they needed to make it clearer that you are playing as a different character though.

You never play as the guy with the rifle in the beginning. As seen, when starting the tank with swearing, McManus says "she likes it when you swear". You mentioned that judging from some scenes of trailers, that day 1 of "The runner" was cut out, but I have literally watched every BF1 trailer and there is not 1 single scene suggesting that anything from "The runner" was cut. In fact there are very little if not any scenes of that story in the trailers...

Except Blackburn was a volunteer in the RFC, which is literally stated in the description of the campaign. You completely misunderstood that whole story.

I hate to jump on a bandwagon, and I did like this video, but I have to mark out two sins as totally undeserved. Both from the Italian section, first, the daughter sounding American isn't really a sin. It's an implication that the father immigrated to America after the war, with the added benefit that it helps negate the fridge logic that if he stayed in Italy, there's a decent chance that he might have ended up serving in the italian army on the side of the axis in the second world war. Second, it's entirely possible that this was the first time the daughter was seeing those war photographs, we tend to only associate it with Vietnam and the wars after that, but for many veterans of even the wars more generally accepted as "moral," such as WW2, their experiences were deeply private

The twin barrel smg is a Villar Perosa. It was a aircraft machinegun later adapted to infantry use, which is why it looks so weird.Fun fact: The armored train in the final missions is called the Zaamurets. It's a Russian train, one of a kind, that participated in WW1, the Russian revolution, and then went on a trip throughout Asia until it was captured, and later scrapped by Japanese forces.In fact, I do not think the Ottoman's had any armored trains at all, much less a one of a kind Russian one.

8:38 the Arditi did indeed use that style of armor and they did have weapons like that. The idea that they used knifes and hand grenades was just In Italian propaganda posters. Also entire units didn't wear them because of the obvious reason that it made them slower and that they like zeppelins were used mostly to scare the enemy.

The game starts you with an automatic weapon because you're not the guy from the cutscene...clearly the guy from the cutscene is still alive because he is the same guy in the last cutscene of the opening.

You know that gun that you said looked like a kid drew the blueprints? Yeah, that was an Italian Villar Perosa, which was the first submachine gun used in combat. It was incredibly powerful and was the Base to the later automatico, and was what started the hunt for submachine guns... So please, do SOME research before commenting about it.

The two biggest sins in my mind are the extrapolation of and forced 21st-century-esque diversity upon early 20th-century European militaries, and a withholding of some of the most important factions within the actual war in order to please the American consumer base and to make for easy future DLC material.

Pretty sure the fact you had a different weapon when spawning in the first level, AND the fact that you later see the guy you thought you were playing as is actually alive, should have been a good indicator that the person you saw was not, in fact, the person you were playing as. Especially considering you die like four times in that one mission.

At 7.27 i dont understand one thing however because if they choose to just crash into the zeppelin and the aa gunner sees them, he would alert everyone on the airship so blackburn wouldnt be taking the germans by surprise but if the aa gunner shoots them down and the plane crashes into the airship , the gunner thinks they are dead or crashed down into the city of london, so no one on the zeppelin would notice their presence which is good
