Maybe Assassin's Creed Origins needed another year of development, because I'm seeing all of the same sins as usual. All that improved was the presentation.

I DID play AC: Rogue, and William Miles isn't killed in it. There's an intercepted message from the Assassins that says he's dead, but one sent immediately afterward that says he's alive, so his fate was, at best, just up in the air.

I don't think it's unpopular at all, people liked this game much more than unity, rouge, and syndicate. I personally enjoyed syndicate but origins was much better. I played for like 5 hours and got bored. The unnecessary grinding and forced sidequests, not to mention the tedious task of spotting the enemies one by one with the eagle was a pain. The combat was clunky and not fun, and i hate Dark Souls for the same reason. When every enemy you face HAS to be this epic duel to the death, it becomes a chore after a while, not to mention wasting my time. And speaking of wasted time, all that grinding the game forces me to do was tiresome. If i play an AC game, i expect to deal death to my enemies from the shadows, not to hunt animals and wander around aimlessly for an hour trying to figure out something FUN to do and grinding my level so that the regular guards won't kick my ass. The game was not fun in the beginning, so how do they expect me to keep playing any further?

Layla invented an animus that doesn't require the user to be biologically related to said ancestor. But since she did this without abstergo's approval, and since they're all about control, they had to try to kill her because of her rebelliousness and to keep it out of assassin hands.

In addition to the ones pointed out in other comments, one incorrect sin concerns Caesar's death scene. "Et tu, Brute" translates to "Even you, Brutus", and was invented by Shakespeare. The in-game "You too, my child" is the translation of the perhaps more iconic, but also probably fictional, "Tu quoque, Brute, fili mi".

I groaned a little there but honestly was more annoyed that the whole "Go to Rome, Kill Ceaser" felt so half-assed, like they desperately wanted to tie the birth of the assasin brotherhood to the asassination of Ceaser but ran out of time/money/resources to properly set it up. Not to mention killing Ceaser doesn't have much weight behind it because his AC character isn't developed very much due to him being in the game at all. Killing Flavius had some weight for being the murderer of Bayek's son at least.

There *were* female gladiators, though. We know this, we have records of them, and even human remains that are clearly female but buried with the paraphernalia of gladiator 'burial clubs.' Some Roman emperors even put on entire gladiatorial games using only female gladiators.
@Mate397
@Mate397 6 лет назад
Isn't it just so convenient how these politically correct stuff just so happen to pop up as time goes on? You do realise that back in ancient times women weren't allowed to do many things, ranging from combat to politics.
@DMurphysLore
@DMurphysLore 6 лет назад
Yeah, I'm sure the Romans were just planting gladiatrix skeletons with full paraphernalia, cackling to themselves all the while. "Ohoho, Alexandrius. You understand not the joke now, but approximately two-thousand years from now, this shall tie in nicely with the SJW agenda!" Evidence doesn't stop being evidence just because it conflicts with how you imagine history to be. Yes, women were not allowed to do a great many things in the Roman era -- it is, however, an error in thinking to go 'Welp, women couldn't do anything, full stop, they stayed at home and weaved.' History is rarely so neat and orderly. In the case of Rome, the divisions of gender were less important than the division between 'equites' 'civitas' and 'infames.' Gladiators were, by law, all 'infames,' -- to fight in the arena automatically diminished your status to that of an infames. And women who were infames had much more freedom in how they acted than women who were civitas, or who were the wives of equites (who were all male). For the Romans, it was entirely palatable, even titillating, for two infames women to fight -- the unspoken rules that governed what infames could or could not do were not the same as that of citizens or nobility. Cassius Dio, writing favourably about Emperor Titus, talks about how he used many female gladiators, but he's quick to point out that Titus' gladiators were all infames, and Titus didn't indulge in the habits of other emperors by demeaning himself to fight in the arena. Female gladiators were just not that controversial. Sorry if that contradicts what Hollywood has told you, but the truth doesn't change just because you think it should. tl;dr: Read a fucking book, you blithering idiot.
@Mate397
@Mate397 6 лет назад
Because faking/misinterpriting historical evidence totally never was a thing. Just saying, and no I don't get my history from Hollywood, besides why on Earth would anyone want women to fight to the death in an arena? If anything slave servants make far more sense for lower class women if you want to go with that. I highly doubt female gladiators could provide the same entertainment as males could.
@DMurphysLore
@DMurphysLore 6 лет назад
Ah, yes. "Hmm. I didn't know this fact ... is it possible that I just didn't know something ... No. No, it must be a conspiracy. They're faking it all, I say!" Also, you talk about faking or misinterpreting evidence, but that would require multiple different sources stretching back decades to fake or misinterpret: Human remains, artwork, inscriptions literally carved in stone (such as one referring to a local magistrate's ruling in favour of 'women of the sword'), and the writings of numerous different people over the course of centuries. Also, hey. Hey. I'm going to let you in on a little secret: Lower class women were also slaves. And servants. There were, in fact, quite a lot of lower class women, and they didn't all do the same thing. Also, I like how you go "Why would anyone want women to fight to the death in an arena?!" as if wanting men to fight to the death in an arena is a normal thing, but women? "Pshaw, everyone knows that women die in far less entertaining ways! I, Mate397, should know." Here's another secret for you: The Romans were a decadent, entertainment-obsessed people who *thrived* off lavish spectacle, and arena battles were less about 'wooo, yeah, murder!' (and, in fact, most gladiators didn't die in the arena) and more about theatre and athleticism. Taking the case of bestiarii, where we have writers talking about female bestiarii felling lions, the feat of killing a lion is really equally as impressive whether you're a man or a woman (and also not that impressive in general, given how controlled the environment of the arena often was). Look. Clearly you are of a delicate disposition, and I can see this is difficult for you to cope with, but I need you to know that I don't care, and you learning new things is not proof of a ~conspiracy~ by historians and archaeologists. They aren't out to get you. It's okay.
@Mate397
@Mate397 6 лет назад
Ah, gotta love the "clearly you're wearing a tinfoil hat" thing to make yourself sound so smart huh? You know what fine, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt that indeed there were female gladiators. Then how come these things only and only now in the oh so voiced "current year" are coming up if it was known for decades?

Adding to the errors noted by other commenters, women actually could be gladiators in ancient Rome. They were quite popular, too.
@drakron
@drakron 6 лет назад
Yes but Gladiatrix were very rare to the point there are few notes about then, in fact there are no surviving records of how they were trained. Point is, for a very long time women were discriminated and this should be reflected in any attempt of historical accuracy, not inject 20th century sensibilities into it because at one point your own propaganda will became true and the errors of the past will be ... rewritten.
@Thylonicus
@Thylonicus 6 лет назад
That may not be true, interestingly. There's evidence that suggests we may simply not *have* the data, but that it might have existed. References in other works of the era, statues, and other minor things are causing historians to rethink the role of the Gladiatrix. In general, women were second-class citizens, quite true, but there are historians who suggest even that may not have been as extreme as we'd thought. Like everything else dealing with history, it's an ongoing process as new data is discovered, and old data is filtered through new data.

Actually no. Altair fixed the blade after he realized Assassins walking around with their ring finger missing was a big giveaway of who they were. Leonardo used Altair's Codex page to repair Ezio's blade. Hence why Ezio's father nor any of the other Assassins lost their fingers. The only Assassins who still chopped off their fingers were the Spanish as they did it to prove their commitment to the Creed.

Thechrisanator 1 what most people don’t understand is that the whole assassins creed series’ goal is to track Desmond’s bloodline back to when the ISU were around so that they can analyze there technology and use it against the Templar’s. The thing is that the games follow real world logic that DNA degrades after every few generations and that they will need older DNA samples to go further back which is why after Desmond’s death Abstergo can’t go back any further because they don’t have any DNA to use to go further back. Hence why Abstergo in modern day isn’t a threat and haven’t gotten anymore pieces of Eden. With the DNA from the spear of Leonidas they can track the bloodline even further back now.

6:48 - Speaking of, Bayek's revenge story is heavily influenced by modern norms. Losing your child is tragic, but in ancient Egypt the death rate and child mortality rate was pretty high, so yes, your average ancient Egyptian would've just had more kids by then. 14:07 - Also, making yourself vulnerable by hopping back in the Animus after your location has been compromised would be a terrible idea, as Abstergo could easily send another wave of assassins.

What i dont get(in any game nowadays), is the clipping of characters. I see hair clippng through their bodies and when they put on crowns or headpieces it just passes right through the hair, rather then pushing aside hair like it should. Is such simple clipping still a thing even after all the advances in gaming technology?
@kunfupandarofl
@kunfupandarofl 6 лет назад
Maybe one day when a company decides to spend 7 years on a game just tweaking little things in it, maybe. Modern companies want to push out games as fast as possible, they want it to look amazing and feel amazing, so they don't have time to spend on working on how to process clothing, hair, and skin collision, which most games don't have.
@BTBSOUNDS

Bruh you're talking about shit that can't really be done yet with current tech. You'll need one of those super computers that extremely hard-core pc gamers have with like 3 gpus and 128 gigs of ram and shiz. There's no way that you can have a world with the size, quality and variation of AC Origins and still have that smaller stuff. I'm surprised they even paid so much attention to the fire stuff in the game
@shane2863
@shane2863 6 лет назад
I have an issue with this too but I don’t expect it to be corrected any time soon. Even the most insane tech demos feature various forms of clipping. You’d have to have multiple physics systems to implement no clipping and hair physics alone is something that can bring strain to a system that otherwise didn’t have any stain.

Normally love these videos but in this case a lot of your criticisms stem from YOU simply not understanding what is presented. It’s really odd how people are willing to suspend belief for some properties and not others. Do you really need a logical explanation of how certain things work the way they do in a franchise that explores things like the mythical properties of the apple of eden? Go pick up some non-fiction if you need sensible answers for everything. This video demonstrates a complete misunderstanding of most of the story elements that are being criticized. Is it an amazing story? No. Is it good enough and very well executed? Yes. Story wise it’s on par with anything else out there with the exception of games that are almost single handedly famous for their narratives.

The story has to be paid attention to and actually thought of to follow. Not like most other games where the story is right in your face and it's obvious. I guess that somehow makes it bad? "Ow my brain". Yeah it's not great, but it is definitely still good. Not only that, a fair amount of sins in this video were blatantly incorrect. I get that these videos are supposed to be satire but some of these sins make it seem like he actually has no fucking clue what he's talking about. If you're gonna try to be funny, make good points. Dart clearly only plays these games to make sin videos for cash and has no intention on putting time and actual effort in finding actual sins outside of his own bottom of the barrel nitpicks. These videos make games look worse than what they actually are. He has the expectations of a in your face, explain everything in cutscenes painfully obvious stories

However if you look at any of their top 10-100 lists, you’ll find that most if not all games on said lists are very good and deserve their spot. To this day IGN has never given out a perfect 10 that I’m aware of. I believe 9.8 is the highest score they’ve given and it was for one of the metal gear solid games if I’m not mistaken. The idea that it’s easy to get top tier rating is asinine. There’s no evidence for that anywhere.

13:58 So in the world Assassin's Creed somehow guns are considered to be scarce or do not exist at all? Every time when abstergo sends henchman to kill certain assassin's, the henchmen only carry Bows or whatever none firearms. What is abstergo afraid of... do they fear that they're going to get caught by the police? Abstergo controls mostly all of the world which means that they are above the law. To think after all these centuries, they have been fighting the Assassins... they should already know how to defeat them on their own grounds and create counter measures or ideas to destroy their order from the inside.

ABOUT SIN 116: 1. The 'e' in 'Brute' is pronounced in Latin. It's the vocative form of the name Brutus. 2. Despite what Shakespeare would like you to believe, historical accounts state that Caesar did indeed say "You too, my son?" instead of "You too, Brutus?" 3. Caesar said his last words in Greek, not Latin. ABOUT SIN 117 It is a historically proven fact that Cleopatra and her son, Ptolemy Caesar, were in Rome when Caesar was murdered. So Aya's killing of Caesar, visit of Cleopatra and founding of the Roman brotherhood happened within the same city. Aya never left Rome.
