What I despise is that the game was hyped to tell an Imperial story, yet they chicken out halfway through to just do a defection story, something only seen a MILLION times now.

The original Battlefront II had a far better story. The campaign narration there was like some old marine's Vietnam War diary. We see the narrator express the emotions of the men of the 501st as they go from trying to two-time the Jedi for Palpatine, to being the not-so-enthusiastic executioners of said Jedi, then we get to see them trying to maintain the Empire against threats, and eventually, they grow to hate the Rebellion for constantly defying the Empire and ruining their attempts to "restore order and peace". It's a lot more realistic than some power fantasy about some Imperial commando who defects quickly to the Rebels and then becomes BFFs with Princess Leia. The new game's main squad has A) the standard hyper-competent female working for an evil organization that secretly has a heart of gold, B) the standard guy who doubts his cause, and C) a standard meathead with a British accent who's loyal to the Empire above everything, even when they genocide their own people because "orders"-something that never happened with Palpatine because all that old fart did was blow up a planet of rebels and a couple warships with the Death Star. And then we had the evil Admiral father guy who hates his daughter at first for joining the Rebels, but then later praises her for doing the same thing because he's realized the Empire was wrong, even though he still served them to the end where he sinks with his ship. Is there anything new there? Anything ground-breaking? At least with the classic game, the story they told was not only compelling, but logical, and from the "everyman" point of view. Iden Versio is a character whose story had potential, but so far, that potential was WASTED. She's a loyal Imperial, then the Empire goes stupid evil for no good reason, then she fits in with the Rebels rather easily over a couple of missions, even though they really should hate her for the fact that she killed plenty of Alliance soldiers. Leia only brings that up once, but then she drops it later and sees Versio as a close friend. It doesn't make a lick of sense when the enemy is stupid evil and the good guys take only a short time to warm up to someone who practically massacred whole platoons of their friends. However, with the 501st narrator, he shows the perspective that many of the grunts of the 501st have, from the Clone Wars Era to the Age of the Empire. He shows remorse and regret for the Jedi they were about to kill. He gets resentful over the fact that the Imperial army became diverse. He grows angry at the Rebels because the Empire tolerated them for a while, but the Rebels answered their tolerance with greater acts of "treason". He grows hopeful that they were annihilating the Rebels on Hoth. That's a far better story than having another group of cliche' characters that fail to live up to the potential they could have. The diary of a nameless narrator, whose words echo the feelings of an entire unit as they go from allies of the Jedi to Vader's Fist. And the Empire is less "stupid evil" in that story, because from the perspective of the soldiers, the Empire's just maintaining order. The Empire didn't bomb loyal worlds just to "spread fear".

The problem with iden is this game is she is a hypocrite for being upset over vardos but justifying alderan and a psychopath for justifying the murder of millions of innocent civilians

6:20 I've agreed with about everything so far, but only the audience, Obi-Wan, Yoda, Vader, and Luke probably know that the Emperor is a Sith Lord and has force abilities. A stormtrooper definitely wouldn't know.

I would of preferred where only Dell rebelled and you got to hunt him down for most of the game but say three quarters of the way through then you can choose whether to go to the rebels or stay imperial. *I WOULD OF STAYED IMPERIALS.*

This game was supposed to be entirely on the Imperial side, the Corvus can even be seen in its imperial form at the battle of jakku in one of the trailers. But then some people at EA thought it would be a bad idea to play as the bad guys without changing sides, so they then had to take parts of the original idea and tack clichés before release

Yeah, I knew Iden was going to join the Rebels right away because she had an American accent.

What if I buy the platinum package how many sins will I get for that? Do I get them all right away or do I have to wait a couple months to get the additional sins and do you take cash or credit?

You know, there's a positive to all these new shit Star Wars games. I get to go back and play all the old ones to remind myself why I love this franchise. And I can help my local game store without giving EA a single cent. Gameplay and story always makes up for aged graphics.

Wait.... Are they trying to say that Rey may be the daughter of Del and Iden? Oh God why.... They weren't even force sensitive so how could Rey have such a natural ability to control the force without any question? I really hope this isn't true.

It’s funny how Iden has no problem with an Empire that overthrew home-worlds until it was her own. This game was garbage, and I hated having to kill stormtroopers in it. Especially when not even two(three?) missions earlier it was trying to humanize them.

I thought Iden was going to be there when the fall of the Empire happens, then she comes back as a First Order commander. Looks like I was misled. But for those of you looking for an Imperial campaign, hit up the classic Star Wars Battlefront II and go play Rise of the Empire. Yes, like this campaign, it's on the short side, but at least the player stays loyal to Palpatine until the end. And geez loweez, the Empire in this new canon is stupid. Blow up one of their own planets to spread fear? Why not use those superweapons on Alliance worlds only? At least the Imperial remnant in Legends rallied behind great leaders like Thrawn. And at least Legends' insane, fratricidal war between Imperial forces after Endor made sense, because Imperials were scrambling to put their own candidate on Palpatine's throne..... It would have made for a good story if Iden Versio was a loyal Imperial who goes back to the core worlds after Endor fell, assured that the Imperials still vastly outnumber the Alliance. But then, she has problems trying to get the Imperial leaders to give her enough forces to stage a counter-attack against the Alliance forces when they're still weak after Endor, since they're all still bickering over who gets to be Emperor. Then, as time passes, she sees why the Imperial leaders didn't answer her call: they begin to fight each other to take the throne, and they were preparing their forces for that purpose. They become agents of chaos instead of order, betraying the Empire's own mandate of bringing order to the galaxy as Imperial warlords and their minions wage war on each other in a bid for the throne, with their fratricidal war destroying most of the Imperial fleet and slaughtering trillions of Imperial citizens in the process. Iden takes Inferno Squad and goes back to Vardos, where the local Imperial garrison has not yet declared for someone to support. Iden takes control of them and has Vardos stay out of the Imperial Civil War as its own free entity. Vardos gets roasted by the Imperial Civil War as two Imperial fleets belonging to two rival Imperial Moffs pop out of hyperspace and engage each other on orbit and on the ground, with Iden and the native Imperial forces evacuating the citizenry as the forces of the two Moffs blow each other to bits with the civilians right between them. Iden and her people are about to get killed, as her fleet and forces are getting massacred by the forces of the two rival Moffs, then an Alliance fleet pops by and saves them. Del secretly sent a message to the Alliance for help, having met Luke once and Luke saved him from monsters. Luke leads the Alliance fleet against the forces of the two rival Moffs and they mop up the invading fleets. Iden and the people of Vardos declare their allegiance to the Alliance after the battle, and Del introduces Luke to Iden. Then you can have Iden do missions for the Alliance. The Empire back in Legends canon is somewhat reasonable. Evil, but reasonable. Aliens like Prince Xizor and Grand Admiral Thrawn are friends of the Emperor. The Emperor treats the Clones with respect and gives them the option to retire with honors or continue serving. People who are loyal are supported by the Empire, in most cases. People who remain loyal to Vader or the Emperor, outside of those living in pro-Rebel planets, and outside of those that fail spectacularly, are safe, for the most part. And the Emperor and Vader make sure to keep it that way. That's why guys like the 501st Legion Narrator in Battlefront 2 Classic remained loyal to the Empire. Unless you're a traitor or a fuck-up, you're safe. The Empire in the new canon just seems to be evil for the sake of evil. They turn Lothal into a shithole because reasons, the Emperor discards the clones like wet tissue paper, and they bomb loyal worlds just to spread fear, which doesn't make sense as that would drive people to hate the Empire because they wipe out their own loyalists to make themselves feel strong. Yeah, can't see the logic there, big guy.

I’ll give credit where credit’s due. At least dice came back to this after ea completely abandoned it and listened to the fans and worked on fixing the game. Even though it’s taken them 2 years to have it become an actual good game.

I'm not a star wars fan, but even I feel bad for fans with the release of this shit game.

I was lead to believe we were to have an Imperial dedicated story. Until Disney or Abrams or whoever chickened out and goes for this cliched route. Remenber: Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.

6:30 actually that compass is brought up again, it's how Luke found his way to Ahch-To before the new trilogy. Little bit of Star Wars knowledge, one sin removed.

Disney and EA made me hate the word Hope so much. God I cannot hear it anymore. Hope this Hope that. What about SECURITY? ORDER? PEACE? The Empire is now the boogeyman. I stick with the old EU stuff. Much better than this. Also I already call Disneys Star Wars the "fanservice Wars" Cuz this is the only thing do in order to sell their shit.

Never forget that Disney considers the expanded universe non-canon... until they feel the need to "borrow" elements from it.

6:20 Minor issue: To everyone in the Empire, Sheev Palpatine was basically just a corrupt politician. The only people that knew where his apprentices, and they sure as sith spit weren't telling. As far as the Empire was concerned, Vader was the force user but pledged fealty to the Emperor

I was surprised that you didn't mention how this was supposed to be from the imperial point of view and in the second or third mission iden and del switched to the rebels

5:23 I thought there would be sins that despite the otherwise gorgeous graphics, some of the renders of iconic characters don't look like the people they're based off it at all. Something about the Luke and Rey renders especially they look like half-melt barbie versions of themselves. 6:28 Baiting a future Episode 8 reference? I think Luke had something similar to this in the trailers.

You should do a special for REALLY BAD GAMES, where you completely voice over the dialogue and cut out the original. Something like a 8 min version of 20 min videos because you would probably cut the dialogue down to the "needed" parts. I would LOVE to see that.

God I hate how all the big companies saw how much money Rockshit was making off of GTA V Online, then they decided that they want that money too. Loved the intro and I'm voting for COD: WW2 for next time. BTW I'm honestly a little surprised that you didn't take a sin off for the Lando/Shriv mission. Yeah it was fan service and took the focus off of Iden (what wasn't?), but it was still a pretty funny section just with the dialogue alone.

I usually don't like these types of videos because they are overly nitpicky, but this one is spot-on due to the glaring story issues and poor gameplay mechanics. It's as if EA and DICE pushed out a piss-poor campaign to focus on their AMAZING multiplayer. /s

Realistically you probably would hear the Death Star exploding, as the shockwave of gas and debris and whatever hits the atmosphere it would dump a lot of energy in at once. It'd probably be more like a very long low booming than an explosion but it counts.

The reason why Del questions why the bunker door would be opened only using the force was because very few knew of the emperors true nature. Many members of the Empire saw the emperor as a politician who lead them, but didn't know that he was a sith. So it would make sense for Del to wonder why a non force sensitive would have a hidden bunker that could only be opened with the force.
