I GREATLY admire how Matt uses actual academic argument structures, research, and research methods to support the gaming community by defending it from misleading attacks from the media. When students ask the typical "When will this be useful to me in life," teachers should show them how Matt skillfully builds arguments for these games using material learned in high school and college classes.

my theory: In simple words, fortnite is a simulation, i came to this conclusion because when you die, the character is taken away by a small computer or machine and plays an absorbing sound and also the death animation looks like a hologram, even better, i think the rain hitting the player creating electricity is the hologram getting damaged by rain, also maybe they are simulating them being on venus to see if they can survive and do a mission they have to do and this whole time they were on a spaceship above venus, and battle royale might’ve been a simulated shooting range... somehow connected to the astroid? MatPat and fellow theorists, you could also have calculated the size of the island by landing directly on a corner of a square on the map, and running along the line until you reach the next corner. Then wait there until someone comes along and kills you. Once you begin spectating that person, check your stats for that game and you will be able to see how far you travelled. This figure could be used to find the total size of of the island in square kilometer. For the edges of the island, pixel measurements could be utilized to find the percent of the square that the land takes up. In the end, this seems like a more accurate way to find the size of the island, as the battle bus may not be the same size as a standard school bus. Thank you for your time. Have a fantastic day

So I just Thought of something. You could get a much more accurate distance for the island. Every time you get a sniper kill you it tells you distance in meters
Estus 1999 When you die or win in the stats it shows how far you traveled (in real measurement units) So you could walk in a straigt line accross a grid and die and get an accurate measurement
